Just checked Twitter, and this appears to be accurate. Definitely explains the scheduling changes yesterday

With season 17 we got a top 20 going into the lives, and then a top 13. I’m happy we appear to be back to 12 person teams, but what I really want is to be back to a normal amount of live shows.

looks like they're making updates, they added the coaches in. That said, doubtful there is both a 1pm and 2:45 pm check-in for two separate tapings. Maybe they're taping something else too?

Yes, tbh the fact that we’re getting 8 sessions has me strongly leaning towards 12/team. my math: over the last several seasons we’ve averaged 5-6 chair turns per session (last season for instance was 5.7). with 40 contestants that’s 7 or 8 sessions, heavily leaning towards 7 with 48 that’s 8-10 (but really 9) sessions

My *guess* is they’ll decide after taping 7 whether or not to hold taping 9. They definitely seem to have decided to prepare to hold it (changing the time, and re-opening it for sign ups). a) if taping 9 is held, that makes it almost certain we’re back to 12 per team b) I suspect if they have 7-8 spots or fewer open going into taping 8, we won’t get a 9, more then that we will. (Tapings are a production, haha, and doing a full taping for 2-3 1/2 chair turns probably isn’t worth it) c) thanks for all the hard work @jus.vshn and @Bk1234

The morning taping has been cancelled, and the time for the afternoon taping (which is no longer listed as sold out) has been changed. I would assume they’re holding open now the possibility of needing a 9th session, and therefore starting to ready an audience for it.

Is this inside info? John usually has people who pick him. I would also guess John and Kelly for who has the least, but I’d guess it was because of pickiness (and Kelly maybe having some issues)

Do we have any insight into if teams are getting close to filling up. Always feel for the people who audition towards the end.

Based on twitter, lots of Ariana fans in the audience. Also 99% sure friday is "sold out" bc it's not happening. Definitely some issues/glitches with the ticketing process though

I'm also curious about some of the logistics stuff. How many people per team, seat order, who is fighting with whom, premiere date etc and Bill will sometimes give that stuff out.

They haven’t done the instant save on Twitter in several seasons

It seems as if they’ve moved up check-in times for all the tapings mon-thurs (maybe they realized with vaccine checks it would take longer, or they just want to be done earlier). Friday times are unchanged, so I’m pretty sure those tapings are actually cancelled (or at least that’s the plan).

They have often in the past scheduled ten tapings, but ten tapings are almost never used. They over schedule in case somethings happens. I can’t speak to all 20 seasons, but the most tapings I can remember happening were 9, and even with 12 person teams it’s usually only 8 that end up occurring. 1iota also overbooks the audience and doesn’t tend to list anything as sold out (unless it’s really over requested or the plan is to cancel it). But if you went and tried to get a ticket now, you wouldn’t get one

I mean, if I’d been busted drunk & disorderly, or said the n word, or used blackface, or made jokes about people’s sexuality, being a terrorist based on the language they spoke etc. I’d also be fired. Otoh I suspect that in any of these cases, including Chrissy’s, I’d be able to find one again ten years later. One can acknowledge the tweets were atrocious, and also that they were a decade ago. My guess is Chrissy’s tweets have very little bearing on how John is received on the show or by the audience. The people leaving comments on his Instagram, were already doing so, using something else to complain about. I wouldn’t mind John leaving, he’s a little to low energy, but that has nothing to do with Chrissy’s current situation.

I think they only used 7 tapings for season 20, even with 12/team I don’t remember them actually using all 10 sessions.
