I think +/- 2 from an even split is fine if the girls are stronger this year. It’s not like we’re talking about a 15/5 split. Making it exactly 50/50 can be just as unfair if the talent doesn’t break down that way.

People get cut for reasons other than “messing up”. The show needs to build an interesting and diverse cast. If the best 20 singers were all power ballad singers, they would still cut a bunch of them because that would be a boring show.

I don’t think you understand what the phrase “one in a million” means. It means the exact opposite of how you are using it. It means something so rare and special that it only happens once every million times. I think the phrase you mean is “a dime a dozen”. I’m not really interested in arguing over the relative merits of Maddie vs. Laine, but HR has definitely put more $ behind Maddie so far.

Having songs is not the same thing as having singles. Just because he has a repertoire of originals that he sings in concert does not mean that he has any singles being prepared for release as studio recordings.

Having a personal preference in the music you like is not the same as caring whether the winner of a tv show fits that preference. I doubt most people who prefer male voices would be offended if a female won a competition.

Nah, the thing they wanted badly was all four coaches in the finale. Carson mentioned that several times. They also obviously wanted to prevent Gwen from being humiliated by being locked out of the finale once again. Beyond that, I don’t think they really cared.

Every “live” finale has pre-recorded segments and performances. That’s generally due to time conflicts or production logistics. BTS were quite obviously pre-recorded last season since pictures of them at Universal leaked several weeks before the finale.

They have a contract too. Presumably they are required to sign the winner (if the winner wants to), but that’s it. It would cost the same money to do the bare minimum regardless of who wins so there’s no need to invest any time or effort either.

This is hilarious. RR has no care for who wins. They do not participate in the casting process. They do not send a rep to the pre-lives to scout the potential winners. They have no A&R effort during the lives. They do not show up for the post-season interviews. I would bet money that no one from the label has the slightest clue about who is on the show. They’ll get around to offering the winner a perfunctory contract after a long Christmas break when someone tells them that there’s “another one from the Voice” they’re stuck with.

She was always very polarizing. You have to be able to separate out the noise from the signal. A lot of Katie’s apparent “popularity” was people complaining about her.

Meanwhile, this show continues its consistent record of being useless to its alums. Of all the performances from the finale, guess which one has NOT been uploaded to YouTube?

The people who watch this show wanted a Hoot win. IDFers are so not typical of the overall viewing audience.

Actually, it might be a good thing. If you can’t buy it, you might stream it, which actually counts for votes!

The finale is always 2 hours. The last thing we need is another hour of filler.
