I had to doublecheck the song title to confirm it was new. Or, this year the Playoffs are re-christened Knockouts part 2 just like S6 had double battles.

But if you aren’t already following Idol itself on social media, you aren’t going to see any of that. ETA: I just checked and the Voice FB page has more likes and followers than the Idol FB page. If you are just tuning into the 2 (or 3) hour program, what are you getting that’s different between the two shows?

What specifically are they doing? If you are a casual viewer who only watches the actual aired product (not a member of an online forum), what is making you follow an Idol singer, but not follow a Voice singer, on a social media platform?

“She should have waited” makes no sense for someone who already came in 4th on a singing show. She lost because she was a cypher to the AI audience. She received airtime that was exclusively short snippets of her singing with no personal content. Idol viewers will not vote for you unless they feel they know you.

Don’t most people consider BSN to be a Judy Collins song? Her version is the one that charted on US radio.

CBS Sunday Morning feature story on the new Broadway production of The Wiz. There’s a lot of time devoted to Wayne Brady in the title role, but they also talk to S3’s Avery Wilson who plays the Scarecrow.

The comments seemed to suggest that “Jason” is a member of Will’s band, or at least a band that Will regularly gigs with.

I don’t think the 2 guys in FGL still talk to each other. They had a falling out over Covid policies and politics in general. Carrie would never do the Voice.

Over the years? The “duet” round has only existed for 3 seasons. Before that, it was a group round with at least 3 and up to 5 contestants performing a song. ABC has changed the HW format a lot from the OG version.

Frankly, the contestants shouldn’t be focused on winning the show either. It’s not particularly useful in the current music market. Let me put it this way—who would you rather S2 winner Jermaine Paul or S2 Battle loser Gwen Sebastian? Both were on Team Blake. Hint: only one of them got a feature credit on a #1 country song.

It happens every season. People say the Idol contestants are more appealing, more marketable, but as the season wears on, the ones who aren’t used to gigging and live performances start to fall off. The grind of the show tends to favor singers who are used to the grind of the music industry.

Hailey has been shown every round and yet I think her total airtime has been less than 2 minutes. Idol is working hard to hide her in plain sight.

They are really only going to show the performances of the ones who made it through, plus the sing-offs. That’s one way to keep viewers from criticizing the choices, I guess.
