  1. I’m ready for a season full of powerhouses. S16 and S17 had a lot of singer-songwriter types. I love those contestants too but I’m ready for a vocal showdown like the good old days.
  2. Great Top 20 all around. My personal ranking as of now: 1. Julia Gargano 2. Louis Knight 3. Lauren Spencer-Smith 4. Cyniah Elise 5. Lauren Mascitti 6. Sam Diaz 7. Dillon James 8. Jonny West 9. Sophia Wackerman 10. Jovin Webb 11. Arthur Gunn 12. Nick Merico 13. Makayla Phillips 14. Dewayne Crocker 15. Kimmy Gabriella 16. Olivia Ximines 17. Grace Leer 18. Aliana Jester 19. Franklin Boone 20. Faith Becnel
  3. Really liking the Top 20 so far. A little surprised about Genevieve but she’s not that good IMO. And I haven’t been keeping score but it seems like there’s more girls in the Top 20?
  4. I think they want a girl winner this season. I’d rather the judges choose the Top 20/24 and then we vote from there. I think voting at Top 40 is too early but Top 14 is too late.
  5. As long as Julia and Louie make the Top 24, I’m good.
  6. I do really like the singers, though. Seems like it’ll be really hard to narrow them down to a Top 20/24.
  7. As fun as Margie was, I don’t think she’s a great singer, so I’m not too sad about this.
  8. Thanks! Didn’t know that was her. She’s singing “Como La Flor” by Selena.
  9. Do you have a link to Sam Diaz’s IG? Not loving these contestants’ choices of songs, though, lol.
  10. I think this is a very strong Top 40 so far. Demi, Lauren, Julia, Cyniah, Bilaal, and Louie are my faves right now. I think these judges (or producers) are the best at choosing talent since Randy, JLo, and Steven Tyler.
  11. Yeah but that happens to a lot of teen singers/celebrities, not just Idol contestants. Even adults. Some people don’t handle pressure as well as others. I believe Antonella was 20 when she was on the show and she’s still trying to blame it for her drug addiction.
  12. The show has had some really strong teen contestants in the past. David Archuleta, Allison Iraheta, Paris Bennett, Jordin Sparks, and Lauren Alaina were all ready for the competition. But most of the time, the teens just aren’t ready to compete on a big stage and have a hard time connecting to the songs. Especially in recent seasons. I’m ready for Top 40 spoilers!
  13. Julia Gargano and Louis Knight are my two favorites right now. Julia sounds like a mix between Sara Bareilles and Pink, and Louise has a really cool, current sounds. Don’t know if he’s British or if he just mimics a British accent like Josiah Leming.
  14. I think of them as ABC American Idol S1 and S2 LOL. I loved S1 (16). Some of the most engaging singers the show had found in a while. S17 was okay. The singers were very strong but it was just too short to have any impact. The cast also lost steam as the live shows started.
  15. TBH Season 12 was pretty good once all the guys were gone. :D Shame they had to manipulate things so much to get a female winner who ended up going nowhere.
  16. Fav: Season 5. Memorable contestants. Strong singers. Very entertaining. Seasons 4, 7, 8, 10 and 15 were very good too. Least Fav: Season 9. The worst group of vocalists ever on the show. Lots of good people passed over in favor of dull singers. Tons of producer manipulation. They couldn’t even be bothered to write original songs for the Top 2. Season 14 is a close second.
  17. And Madison auditioned with Speechless.
  18. Still scratching my head over his elimination. He would’ve put most of these finalists to shame.
  19. He is the stealth TCO. Tessanne what? Chris Blue who? Craig Wayne When? Shane Q is gonna knock your faves out one by one. He will go on to sell more albums than any other singing competition winner EVER!
  20. Kat: “Candle in the Wind” Elton John Ricky: “For the First Time” The Script Rose: “Concrete Angel” Martina McBride Myracle: “Gonna Love Me” Teyana Taylor Joana: “It Must Have Been Love” Roxette Katie: “Remedy” Adele Will: “Don’t Wanna Know” Maroon 5 Marybeth: “Love Me Anyway” P!nk and Chris Stapleton or “Life In A Northern Town” Sugarland version Hello Sunday: “Wings” Little Mix Jake Hoot: “Mercy” Brett Young Shane Q: “Whenever You Come Around” Vince Gil
  21. “Dog a Days Are Over” for Caroline Pennell. Cee Lo had completely checked out.
