  1. While doing these write ups I ended up liking Cyrus less than I did going in to this season lol
  2. That is what happens when she is paired with my perfect boy Chehon
  3. at first i thought this meant you were upset and crying because of Alex's cut. but then i remembered you have an actual baby.
  4. Santa Fe (Newsies) Sorry Newsies fans but I am here first for once (work! you gotta do it to live unfortunately!) and I will let other people fight out the other songs. I think this is by far the easiest cut from this set so I guess as I think Alex is the only Newsies fan (Newsies head? What would the fandom all themselves) so you all can have at the rest. I don't have any strong feelings on "Santa Fe" or really Newsies in general, so instead of me making some comments on this. Here are some youtube comments. First the description of this video uploaded by Newsiesfaan123 "Santa Fe is my favorite song from newsies i like how jack puts feeling in the song :)" That's great. I think Alex would disagree. This is not his favorite Newsies song but it is certainly the moment from the movie. Also Alex I am not trying to take digs specifically at you, I am just remembering the comments on this thread about what people said about the Newsies. Unfortunately, most of that comes from you. Some comments: "I just like how his voice is realistic... you know like an ordinary boy, and it just sounds real... like he's just thinking and dreaming to himself" True. Christian Bale is a real person and his voice IS realistic. "Jack Kelly's parents are dead batman's parents are dead COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT" Not the only comment to connect Christian Bale as Jack to Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman. One single continuity. All Actors are the same in every role. Next we need to have Christian Bale as Dick Cheney as Jack singing this song. The irony because Newsies is all about worker's rights and Dick Cheney is like freak the workers. "I know a lot of people say Christian Bale isn't a fantastic singer and that's cool but like give the guy some credit, he does a pretty damn good job for someone who had to learn all those dance moves and sing the song in an accent that isn't his. Tbh, I haven't watched the Broadway version but god, I just love this song and I think Christian Bale does a fantastic job tbh" Yah, guys, Christian Bale had to learn to SING and DANCE. You think for a movie musical they are just gonna cast anybody who can already do both?????????? "Frankly I don't think the broadway version is any better or worse, both versions kind of approach it from different angles. Christian's version is a bit more relaxed and slightly more day dreamy, while Jeremy's version is a lot sadder. It's kind of like Bale fantasizes about the future while Jeremy is thinking more about escaping the past and present." The problem is that Jeremy Jordan was annoying the one time he got mad at Kara/Lena shippers from Supergirl (sorry if the show didn't want me to believe they were in love the directors of the episodes could have told Katie McGrath to tone it down ) but he's also an excellent musical theater guy. Now we have a comparison of a guy who can sing and dance. "who else just dramatically danced and mouthed along to this song in their bedroom with all the passion and feeling they could muster" Can the Newsies STANS here relate? Please let me know and more importantly please let ZoeGrant1929 on youtube know. "Few realise... this is with no “auto tune” Yeah he’s not a singer..but Christian give all to any role. Christian is the Gem that is adored by many yet loved by fellow Thespians" Fun fact I AM A THESPIAN. "i first saw this movie when i was 17, when i heard the lyrics "For a dreamer night's the only time of day" I fell in love with this movie, words so simple having such a strong and poetic meaning..." when you first realize songs can evoke feelings. Also, I've been to Santa Fe and IDK what it was with musicals from the early 90s, but this is the SECOND song from that era (actually I think it came out before Rent officially debuted on Broadway) named "Santa Fe" that's about escaping life in New York to live in Santa Fe! What do New Yorkers see in New Mexico????????? It's nice but like. The peak? You might notice that this write-up is now a bit longer. That's because the editor freaked up from my copy and pasting from Youtube.
  5. save Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag) (Mary Poppins) cut Santa Fe (Newsies)
  6. although if i had gone with my original choice i guess that there would have been a tie for most robbed between the two other ones.
  7. I was between "Bang Bang", "That Man" and the Cyrus/Comfort/TWitch/Christopher Scott finale routine. So glad to see "Bang Bang" won.
  8. Hakuna Matata (Lion King) Another song that when I saw the noms when I woke up but before I went to PT I thought I would save or would be saved. But the way the chips fall, I'll honor Chris's cut/save (because it's the exact same thing I would do lol) and that left me with "Hakuna Matata" and "You've Got a Friend In Me." Both are clearly iconic songs from two pillars of Disney's best animated franchises, and I thought that with how quickly Lion King songs had been saved in the past I wouldn't be here making this choice. But when it comes down to it, I am a bigger Toy Story fan than I am a Lion King fan and the franchise means a lot to me. And it helps that are more Lion King songs left including a couple that I consider better songs. I guess the other Lion King fans thought that way as well when they didn't choose to save this. "Hakuna Matata" is a catchy song. It's the song where Simba grows up in the movie after he is left to die by his traitorous uncle Scar. It's all about him learning to live in the present despite the traumas of his past, which is great when you are a kid and you need to grow up, but something that you need to quickly get rid of when you have to depose your uncle and claim your throne. It's a very catchy song which you'd expect from Elton John and Tim Rice. But again, there are Lion King songs that I like better which are still in the game so unfortunately the song meets its end here. Saving: You've Got a Friend in Me
  9. I’ll do my cut/save when I get to work!
  10. also rei if you can't find any of the NL5 routines let me know! I started ripping the routines but haven't finished. So it will be the push I need.
  11. NL5, US10, NL6 is such a good stretch. A reward we deserve after US9.
  12. done. wow i found it hard to figure out what my most robbed routine was surprisingly.
  13. i am working on it! who knew i'd have SO MUCH TO SAY about season 9
  14. One Jump Ahead (Aladdin) Right up until now, I thought I was going to save this song and cut a different one. But after thinking, this is getting cut. I actually really like this song. It's probably my favorite from Aladdin. I like how energetic and kinetic it is. I think visually it's has some of the most fun gags in the entire movie. This song (and its immediate reprise) act as the "I Want" song for Aladdin replacing Howard Ashman's original song called "Proud of Your Boy" and I wish this movie had been able to incorporate both that and this one (the musical adaptation of Aladdin actually does, I do not know if the Live Action does because I watched only clips of that) because I think they work well together. You have this one with all of Aladdin's bravado and cleverness (the lyrics of this are genuinely so much fun, if you are forced to replace Howard Ashman because of his unfortunate early death, Tim Rice is just about as good a replacement as you can hope for in that scenario) and then the more earnest "Proud of Your Boy." Anyway, it's a great song. It's fun to watch. It just has to get cut now. Saving: Whistle While You Work
  15. save Whistle While You Work (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) cut One Jump Ahead (Aladdin)
  16. It’s always been whatever Ru wants to happen. If you are well liked by Ru you have a much longer leash to do worse in the lip sync. If you aren’t well-liked you end up like Plasma and get eliminated your first time in the bottom despite having two wins lol
  17. by the transitive property: Geneva eliminates Hershii and Mirage Mhi'ya eliminates Geneva, Megami, Plasma Morphine eliminates Mhi'ya, Xunami, and Dawn Sapphira eliminates Morphine Q eliminates Amanda and loses in a Lip Sync for the Win to Sapphira ==> Sapphira is the lip sync assassin of the season.
  18. If only this season hadn't been filmed like 9 months ago so the judges could have seen Love Lies Bleeding because: Body Building women are IN.
  19. Ranking the Top 4: 1. Sapphira Cristal - Unless something weirdly disastrous happens or she faces Nymphia in a SNSD or Blackpink Lip Sync for the final lip sync of the season she has this in the bag. And I have no complaints about that. 2. Nymphia - A lot has gotten made of Q being fashion, designing and making all her outfits. But Nymphia has bodied the runways this season and nobody else touches her. I don't think there's been a queen as consistently excellent on the runway since maybe Raja. I think the only week Nymphia hasn't been the best on the runway was the colors runway and the flower runway which Sapphira won. She's clearly quite talented and I think overlooked before the Sapphira takeover. She's going to be so good on All-Stars one day. 3. Plane - Another queen who is just going to be very good on an All-Star Season. I've said earlier that everything I think Plane does well both Nymphia and Sapphira do just as well and they both have the edge over her when it comes to polish and runway. 4. Q - Meh.
  20. I am SHOCKED at how badly Morphine failed at this challenge. Like absolutely floored. It's like she thought she could get away with giving her dancer a good mug and couldn't fathom changing anything else. Easily the worst of the week and having Sapphira's unexpectedly weak week as well was a perfect setup for her elimination. I've liked Morphine all season but I am not going to argue that she should have done any better than this. I would have liked to see her sneak in to the Top 4 with Nymphia, Sapphira, and Plane but there was no defending her this week. Sapphira played the lip sync smart but I think she would have had to physically collapse on stage to not make it through.
  21. Kiss the Girl (Little Mermaid) I think that The Little Mermaid maybe has the best collection of songs from the Menken and Ashman catalogue for Disney. Nearly all the songs are standouts in their own rights which is why in the new movie the songs fall a bit flat or feel a bit out of place. Disney clearly had musical movies before this, but I think The Little Mermaid rightfully ushers in the Disney Renaissance for a reason. It's the first movie which feels like the animated version of a Broadway or movie musical and that's something we hadn't seen before. Instead of having maybe 5 or 6 songs across a runtime of 90 minutes, it's 8 songs in 80 minutes which means all the big story beats are represented by an appropriate song to match. This is the movie that sets the tone for all the future Disney princess canon. Anyway, had to give a little background because this is far from the best The Little Mermaid song. It's probably falls near the last third. That doesn't mean it's not good, but it does mean it doesn't really reach the heights of better songs like "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea," and "Poor Unfortunate Souls." That's fine, not every single song in a musical needs to be the best song, but that makes it a pretty easy cut to make here. Saving: Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride
  22. I think that's what I have left!
  23. save: Hawaiian Roller Coaster (Lilo & Stitch) cut: Kiss The Girl (The Little Mermaid)
