BIAS and Jacquie have become close friends, as these TikTok videos indicate. She called them "the dream team" and him "amazing." Jacquie said she knew BIAS had "a connection" with Gwen that she didn't, so the outcome wasn't unexpected. After Noah and Tom, his voice is my favorite male voice this season. BIAS explains that Johnny Cash was born near his hometown in Arkansas. Gwen calls BIAS “country soul preacher.” Gwen wants him to be more storytelling early in the song. Bias is a country singer, but he’s also a worship leader. He’s really a gospel singer at heart. Some of the low parts are too low for him. The best part of the song was the second chorus where he lets loose. BIAS is kind of a weirdo. But interesting. I pegged him for elimination this week, but maybe not. I wish we had longer with these artists. Just when they intrigue, the show is over. Reba says, “My gosh you’re good!” Gwen says, “It’s like a dream that you’re on my team. Haven't joined any fan thread yet this season, not even for my snowflake Nini, but I was genuinely surprised to see one for BIAS--I thought everyone on IDF disliked him LOL, so yeah, I would like to join because this is cool. TBH, country isn't quite my bag, rock/alt/indie/folk is (hence, Nini), but BIAS' brand of outlaw-preacher country with tinge of rock/soul edge, that I can get behind. I also tend to like the more interesting/quirky artists, and say what you want about BIAS but he is certainly that. I hope he makes it to the next round, because we haven't gotten a true campfire storytelling moment yet on the show, and with Alexa gone, I think that's now on someone like BIAS, if not Lila or Ruby. Would like something starkly different though-- sit him on a stool, whip out the trusty six string, three chords/the truth, and tell us a story on a not-frenetic song where there's space for the notes and lyric to resonate and breathe. Not country, maybe adjacent, maybe overdone(?), but I wonder whether a beloved classic like "Knocking on Heaven's Door" would work? (Alright, alright, alright, not quite a "God" song, but at least there's heaven in there!)
