Jim Collins also chimed in this morning ..he was pretty mad..

Sorry, but “Damn Strait” is not a cover. It’s a completely different song than Granger Smith’s song. The reason I know this, is because I co-wrote the song. You need to fire whoever wrote this inaccurate, and poorly sourced “article”. Do better 👍

After also contacting TribLIVE via FB (both Sandy and I messaged them)....the article has been corrected.  No apology given.

Doesnt surprise me in the slightest ..but good they have corrected it... after 4-5 hours of it circling the web!!

It was corrected ..

One of his favorite songs from “Same Truck” isn’t one he penned, although McCreery is the first artist to record it. The song is “Damn Strait” by Trent Tomlinson and Jim Collins.

Actually, they corrected it twice.  First, they still called it a cover....but mentioned the writers. etc.

I guess some are just not cut out  for the job they are doing .......🤭     research, fact checking,  etc etc... is way off on the horizon .

What did they NOT understand ..we both told them Its NOT  a COVER !! 😮 Gave them all the info they needed...🤔

Didn't see the San Antonio - Austin market either.

Halletsville is 1/2 way between San Antonio & Houston.  Sweetwater is really nowheresville kind of west Texas.  Weird selection of markets.  Wonder what the goal of market choices is?

Five years ago we took a HUGE step of faith, leaving everything and everyone we knew and loved behind to follow the Lord’s leading to move to Nashville for Spence to pursue his dream of music. It was scary, thrilling and tested our faith on more than one occasion. But God has been so very faithful in the promises He laid out before us. He promised to never leave us or forsake us. He continues to prove that daily as we rely on Him.
Since taking that big leap in 2017, Spence has been a part of so many amazing experiences. Each one leading to the next big adventure. 2.5 years ago he stepped into the role of lead guitarist for Jason Crabb. Jason and his team are so amazingly talented and it was such an honor to join alongside his ministry. There are some jobs that become more than just jobs. This was one of those. Jason and his team have become family and we love and appreciate each of them so very much. They have been nothing short of amazing in their love and encouragement for Spence as he moves into his most recent position of lead guitarist for Scotty McCreery.
We cannot express our gratitude enough to the Lord for placing Spence in another amazing group of guys that value and encourage Spence. There is always some apprehension when taking on a new position but these guys have made it so easy. Most of the guys with Scotty’s band have been with him for over 10 years and there’s a reason for that. When you have a solid group that cares and looks out for each other, why go anywhere else? Scotty, thank you for taking a chance on Spence. I know you won’t be disappointed! You are gaining a super talented musician, but more importantly, a man of God that will be there to encourage, support and love people on the daily.
There are no words to express just how proud I am of you, Spence! 😍🥰 God has led you to this moment and He will continue to walk alongside you as you trust in Him. Mo and I are praying daily for you as you are on the road. What an honor you have been given and as Morgan and I already know, what an honor Team Scotty has in having you join their crew. We will see you soon! ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve spent 2.5 amazing years on the road with Jason Crabb, Terry Thompson, Rhonda Thompson, Jeffrey Holm and have played many dates with Marcus Wiles, Israel Gonzales, Kris Bitten, and so many other musicians who are Nashville’s finest. It has been one of the sweetest seasons I’ve experienced, and I thank God He placed these people I now call family, in my life. Last night, I started a new job playing lead guitar with Scotty McCreery. My good friend, bassist/tour manager Nathan Thomas, and new friend guitarist/keyboardist Jeff Harper have so generously trusted me with this role, so I’m following the path God has once again placed before me. With Jason’s single debuting higher than any other of his career, and Scotty’s latest single currently sitting at #1 on country radio, I couldn’t be more proud of these guys, or grateful for the opportunity to share a portion of the stage with them. Thank you Crabb camp for the incredible, life changing years, and McCreery camp for welcoming me in a way in which I don’t feel worthy, and for your patience as I get up to speed. Misti, Mo, I love y’all so much, and we’ll see ya shortly 😉

Spence was just recently hired by Scotty McCreery’s team to play lead and sing back up vocals for him . Last night was his first night on stage with Scotty and I’m sure that it was an amazing experience . To have the honor to play Scotty’s current #1 hit that was co-written by one of Nashvilles great veteran songwriters , and who is also our friend Jim Collin’s , that grew up in Nacogdoches Tx. Spence, Misti and Morgan along with the rest of us Peppards will always be indebted to Jason Crabb. He introduced Spence to the Opry stage and always encouraged him. It was a great 2 1/2 years and we thank God for Jason who also gave Spence his blessings to go with Scotty. Thank you , thank you ,thank you Jason, we LOVE YOU❤️

Imagine how Krista felt last week when she knew the phone would be ringing in the control room and none other than Scotty McCreery would be on the other end of the line!

It was fun to chat with Scotty about his latest #1 single Damn Strait, his upcoming appearance at YQM Country Fest and Krista even suggested a nickname for his baby boy.

Have a listen!
