  1. You wouldn't be scared to tell me you don't like something you think I also don't like. Please make sense. - "dmix" But I don't know. Okay. I was in the mood to answer for real. Thanks, but... that is me. - Yayy thank you. I can. He's done it a few times with this song? Oh my. I need to see. 22. Ariana Grande - “thank u, next:” I didn't even think of Ariana releasing so many singles so much as releasing her albums way too close together. But I get the timing issue with this and breathin', ugh. I don't remember my initial thoughts on this, but I do think it grew on me some. I love the feel to and the optimism of it. Yeah, the Malcolm lyric is so sad. I love that pre-chorus part too and all she learned from her exes. It's so good. I enjoyed all the parts you mentioned. And the video is fun. Really weird this was her first #1 on Billboard though? That confuses me. 21. Post Malone - “Goodbyes” (feat. Young Thug): I forgot about this song and/or didn't realize it was 2019. When was this released? Interesting with the Circles comparison, but I never cared for this one. I remember hearing this a lot on the radio. Wait, what happens at the start of the video? I won't know because I'm playing the clean version... which wait, is not actually clean. omg Wally. My poor ears. Hmm these parts and this song is all okay for me. Not my favorite, but not my least favorite, I suppose. lol the Young Thug comments. Wow, I hear that. Interesting lyrics. 20. Jonas Brothers - “Only Human:” Wow, I never thought of the Maroon 5 comparison, but I get that. I do love the funkiness of this song too. You heard this a lot on radio before it was a single? Why would that happen? But yeah, I heard this one a ton too. It's so fun and catchy. I love these parts you named too. lol the people singing in the video. Ahh these chorus lyrics are something for me... but yep. Yay the Carlton! I think it's all very fun. 19. Halsey - “Without Me:” Oooh you know about me with this. I loved this song about a year ago, but omg it was still playing foreverr and felt so old to me. I could not. I do love her voice on it though and the song itself. I just needed a break. I like all the parts you named. "Put you right back on your feet. Just so you could take advantage of me." One of my favorites. Oh, I'm sure you made this CMAR comment last year too, but I see. You should do a medley of the songs. 18. Ariana Grande - “break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored:” "I msut say a VERY well done to Denise on predicting Ariana Grande would have two songs on this set." Well oh, thank you. I felt like it would be her, so yay. "I still think i prefer TUN more" But I get what you're saying about the years. I too prefer TUN. "Omggg wow when I first heard of and heard this song, I had the biggest field day with it" Explain? Yeah, I cannot support what she's saying in this song. Wow. OMG that line you quoted from the opening verse. I cannot even comment. The pre-chorus is one of my favorite parts, and I think my second favorite... and the chorus is my least favorite. Ugh it does not work for me. I'm sorry, I love Ari, but am disappointed with some of these singles and her latest album. THE BRIDGE. OMG WALLY. THAT IS AN NSYNC SAMPLE. YOU DIDN'T MENTION. That is my favorite part of the song and I love it, but sad that my favorite part of this and 7 Rings are samples of other songs. 17. Normani - “Motivation:” "It’s been wayy too long" hasn't it been the whole list? But yes, I knew this song would rank high. I too wondered when she would actually release a solo single, so glad it finally happened. I like the video too and think her outfits are cute. I don't get the specific comparisons with the artists, but maybe in general. This song is really fun, upbeat, catchy and all that. OMG some of the lyrics. "Why would we ever do somethin' instead of Fallin' into the bed right now?' What. But yeah, I like that move you pointed out that she does. We know she's a fantastic dancer. Yay the chorus! Although I didn't know at first what exactly she was saying in there, sooo wow. Okay. This song is all about something. lol I knew she said that one lyric you didn't know about. I always heard it. Ooh this other dance move part you named is really cool too. Agree about the horns and more dancing. I agree she did great with the video and it's amazing for her first one too. It's a full-on performance and a lot of fun. I did feel like the song died kind of quickly on radio, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. This list has gone sooo fast. - This song title is spelled the same way both forwards and backwards: ooo. Post Malone - Wow. - This song title seems to address a parent: Panic! At the Disco - Hey Look Ma, I Made It. - Something that a lot of people drink: Lizzo - Juice. - Something that all of us here do: Khalid - Talk. - A 3 artist collaboration song, which features an artist that showed up in the 76-71 set: The recap doesn't work. Ellie Goulding & Diplo - Close to Me (featuring Swae Lee). - This song shares the same name of a classic Bee Gees hit: Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You.
  2. - I understand. - Yay the Lauren compliment. Although she was easily my favorite. - It was released October 2018 and I heard it a ton on the radio in 2019, so it very much qualifies for the list. Songs can take some months to hit their peak when they're released as singles. - I love both songs as well. I don't remember how I discovered Pixie, but do remember her songs being used in the RE (by myself, as well). Would love hear Demi on this! - So glad you like this and get the comparison. I love that I had Thomas in the same set. - He hasn't released too much music, especially in awhile, but does sometimes. Aww okay. - I only include singles on my list, unless by mistake, but always do intermissions full of album tracks. I agree.
  3. - Me too. I thought you said what I just said, lol... but it is also what you said: "It would have been fun seeing all those different Thomas’es through the ages." - Okay, I did find the SNL performance she did of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWLorxdRxRg Ugh, I hope not. I'm sorry, but please do share if you figure out what it reminds you of. Ooh okay, I've heard things like that before. But weird to do that with a song you (the radio) never end up playing. - It shouldn't have been because that's not the case, but I guess I didn't want to let on too much. Oh, well I remember when they did this together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2ua3O_fdCY and also the One Love Manchester concert. I remember pictures like this: https://compote.slate.com/images/79b64f74-4b89-4cf4-88da-5036891fd1d5.jpeg I know. Okay, well she slays. Ooooh. Thank you, but then "most"? This doesn't feel like a full compliment. I don't know how I'm motivational, but thank you. Aww well gosh, I hope you wouldn't think anything negative. Ooh.... OMG. I don't think I'm psycho, but.. wow.
  4. Although neither have been particularly interesting to me so far.
  5. Shakira and J-Lo were fun.
  6. I think this is what's left: Reign Silicon Valley Maniac Bodyguard The Weekenders Masters of Sex Lucifer Burning Love Roswell Big Love
  7. 80. Liam Payne - Stack It Up (featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie) I knew this song was a jam from the second I laid ears on it. It's just so catchy and I can't help but love it. The music at the start actually reminds me of "Same Old Love" by Selena Gomez. Random. This song doesn't seem to have too much of a deep meaning. He just wants money. Money is not the most important thing in life, Liam. But I guess we can pretend for less than three minutes. His spelling of words in the verses is kind of fun, but I really like his vocals on the next part: "I've been workin' and gettin' by, but that ain't enough to satisfy" And then the chorus! "So if you wanna stack it up, man, you gotta work for it, I-I-I-I-I-I, , Ain't nobody gonna be doin' it for ya, I-I-I-I-I" That part that goes "I got money on my mind, I-I, I-I" is my absolute favorite and gets me like I-I. I-I. It's so catchy for some reason. A Boogie Wit da Hoodie comes in with a solo, which is what it is, but I prefer Liam singing. This song is so new to me and I only discovered it right before starting the list, so it could otherwise rank higher, but this isn't too bad of a placement. 79. Kream & Eden Prince - Ain't Thinkin Bout You (featuring Louisa Johnson) It's been four years and still no album from Louisa... I enjoy a lot of the songs she's put out, but what gives? This is another one fun one, although I have no familiarity at all with Krem or Eden Prince. I also like to think of her as the lead artist on this since she's the vocalist, but it tends to happen that the singer is considered a feature artist. Anyway, this is a kind of fun song about moving on from someone, it seems. I guess the guy did her wrong based on the lyrics. I really like the pre-chorus part where it starts to build up with her singing: "And all those times you said that you're better off with someone else, I hope you found what you need. Leave me in your past, there's no point in turning back, when you kiss her and pretend that it's me" Yikes that last lyric. I really love the chorus though, like when she sings "I ain't thinking 'bout youuuuuuuuu anymorreeeee" It picks up about halfway through, but I just love her vocals and the higher notes. "I'm doing pretty good on my own, and you look ridiculous all alone" That part is so jammy and sassy. I also couldn't find a clean version of the song, but I never even knew listening to it that anything explicit was said. I would never have known. Oh, and ouch to this lyric from the second verse: "You think you're one in a million, to me you're nothing at all" Yikes. But oh my, this song is so short, which I also didn't realize. It feels like it just stops when a bridge should come in. Oh well. I'M DOING PRET. TY. GOOD. ON MY OWN. 78. Laine Hardy - Flame I don't remember how much I liked this song when I first heard Laine sing it on the Idol finale, but I know it quickly grew on me and I ended up liking it a lot. I don't think it was quite the sound I expected from his first single, although that can happen sometimes on these kind of shows, but I do like the more rock edge to it. His voice sounds really good. The song startsout so sweet too: "I hope you find what you're lookin' for" Well thank you. But lol this line "I hope you see what I see, when I see what I see in you" I could never sing that if this was my song and I'm sure would trip over my words every single time. Anyway, this is really such a positive and encouraging song about living your best life, it seems, even in the midst of struggle. I love the build-up from the pre-chorus where he goes "And if the darkness arrives in the still of the night and there's no one inside..." But the chorus! It has such a great feel that I can't explain. PUT YOUR LIGHTT UP. That first one there at the start of the chorus is one of my favorite parts. That and the "so I can see your flamee" Aww that sounds cute. I love the way he sings both parts. Also, this line in the second verse I really like: "But there's a flame in your name" There's a little groove to that part that I love. I guess it's the rhyming. But... PUT YOUR LIGHTTT UP. SO I CAN SEE YOUR FLAAAMEE. Love it and hope we hear more from Laine soon. 77. Maren Morris - GIRL *song starts around 0:12* I feel like this is a song I don't think about how much I like or realize it when I'm not listening to it. That can be annoying. But this has a really cool, kind of bluesy feel to it that I really love, and I love even more the empowerment of the lyrics. It touches on insecurities, self esteem, and how to feel comfortable with yourself as a woman or... girl. Her voice sounds really great and I like the way the music kicks in more halfway through the chorus. But her voice and the lyrics are what is most important here. I love how she sings "What you feel is natural, but I don't wanna feel this anymore" in the pre-chorus. The chorus is so encouraging though and important. "Girl, won't you stop your cryin'? I know that you're tryin'. Everything's gonna be okay, baby girl" But I really love when she sings "Don't you lose your halo" Her vocals on the bridge section are so pretty before she goes back into powering it, which I also love. This song is really good and I'm reminded of that with each listen. 76. Dermot Kennedy - Moments Passed I think I remember hearing this song on SYTYCD, at least I think it was this one, and I came to really like a lot of his music, as one was already posted earlier on the list. His music is all very emotional and powerful. This song in particular is about love and loss.. and is shown in the video as well, as this older man reflects on all the great things he loved and lost from his youth. He only has his memories and it's so sad. I really love this part of the first chorus "What if I'm caught up and it's me you're calling? What if I'm lost now 'cause of demons comin', When she kissed me, I felt a new freedom or something" as well as the very ending before he chorus where he says "Feels like December knows me well" I don't know why I bye2 but I do. The chorus is again so emotional, but this is my favorite: "'Cause I loved ya, does that mean nothing to you now?" Ugh, so sad though. I love how he sings the whole thing, as well as those background vocals that are also at the start of the song. I love the "I wanted to run to you" part of the second verse as well as those parts after where he goes "Maybe I've lost count of the rooms you're tall in, Maybe I've lost count of the nighttime all ins" His voice just cuts through like a knife. Ugh I love it and this song. 75. Tori Kelly - 2 Places This song is so pretty, but also so relatable for me... it seems to be about her heart, mind, soul, or all of the above being confused. Maybe it's about anxiety, depression, or just mental state, in general. I think people can probably adapt it to their own situation to relate, like I know I do. "Just never know what I'll be feeling today, Happy or sad, yeah, it could go either way, One minute I'll be fine then I don't know how to feel" Ugh yes. All too real. I love the subtle groove of the chorus. The song has a much more chill, laid back sound to it, but don't let that fool you because it's still powerful lyrically and vocally. "I'm in between the two, standing still and on the run, Don't know what to do, I'm in two places at once" But I especially love last line "Heart is so confused 'cause it's two places at once, oh" One of my favorites is the last line of the second verse where she says "One hand holds onto hope, the other's filled with doubt" I can so relate. But omg the entire bridge is an actual mood. I have to quote it all, so get ready. 1:50. "The same things that make me smile are the same things that make me cry, The same things that comfort me are keeping me up at night, oh, I must be goin' numb, Maybe it's all because, oh, I'm feelin' everything, I'm feelin' all at once" She really went there and spoke my life. I love her more belting vocals toward the end of the song too. So darn good. It really is a tug-of-war kind of feeling that she sings about. 80. Liam Payne - Stack It Up (featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie): 79. Kream & Eden Prince - Ain't Thinkin Bout You (featuring Louisa Johnson): 78. Laine Hardy - Flame: 77. Maren Morris - GIRL: 76. Dermot Kennedy - Moments Passed: 75. Tori Kelly - 2 Places: Clues for 74-69: - Two one-word song titles that end with the same letter. - This song was posted in Steven's 80-73 set. - A song stylized in all lower case. - The last name of the singer of this song starts with the same letter as the last word of the song title. - This song was released to go alongside a 2019 movie.
  8. I believe I saved this show twice (at Alex's request), despite never seeing it, but the gifs I saw before looked interesting. Now reading about it here, it really does sound good, and I may have to check it out sometime.
  9. I have no opinion on any of these, so I will likely wait until the end.
  10. Ooh I just saw this, but I didn’t originally cut it because of Glee or anything else, which I hope is obvious since I made the switch.
  11. EastSiders EastSiders is a dark comedy show that premiered on YouTube in 2012. It is created, written, directed by, and starring Kit Williamson. I always find it so impressive when one person is behind all that. It follows a couple, Cal and Thom, who struggle with substance abuse problems, as well as infidelity. Apparently they cheated on each other with the same guy, so that is interesting, but also yikes. The show also features another couple, Kathy (who is Cal's best friend) and Ian, who reach their sixth month anniversary, making it Kathy's longest relationship. Cast members include Van Hansis, Kit Williamson, John Halbach, Constance Wu, and Matthew McKelligon. I have only heard of one of them. While the first two episodes aired on YouTube, the funding for the following seven of the first season was raised through a Kickstarter campaign. The show was picked up in 2013 to stream on Logo TV's website, and the rest of the season aired there. The following seasons aired on Vimeo's on-demand service and Netflix. Wow, this show has been all over the place. The fourth and final season premiered in December 2019. The show has been well received, and was even nominated for some Daytime Emmy Awards. That is good for it. I personally never heard of this show before and had to go down the list of cut options here, until I landed on one that nobody (at the time) minded. All three of my cuts in this round ( ) were only because I never heard of the shows and I had to make a quick choice. I was on my phone, battling crazy crowds, dealing with other drama, and then trying to save a show in here. I only wanted to *save* a show and was just choosing something I didn't recognize to cut. I apologize to the fans of all the shows, and especially Rei now seeing he likes this one because it can't be changed. I WOULD DO A FOURTH WRITE-UP. I would. At least Anne and Alex got their top saves. I wouldn't intentionally steal someone's pre-redo save, but didn't register what saves/cuts were done before, as I had no time and was only focused on the shows I chose still being up for grabs. I'm glad it worked out though, even if it was more and more work for me. Also: I would be shocked Seinfeld is not actually part of this game, since that seems like such a big show to be excluded, but I see it actually ended in 1998 so makes sense now. Saving: Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
  12. Save Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Cut East Siders
  13. I can change my cut, but I already completed two write ups on my phone while on the go so this is getting stressful for me. I didn’t intend to cut anyone’s top choice though so I will change it.
  14. Save Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Cut Succession?
  15. Narcos I won’t be home until tonight, so I’ll update this write up with a photo and more info then. Narcos is a crime drama show that premiered in 2015 on Netflix. It was set in Colombia, aired for three seasons, and ended in 2017. Except not really, because a fourth season was reset as the first season of a new show, Narcos: Mexico. It premiered in 2018 and is, of course, set in Mexico. I’m cutting this show because I never heard of it and I needed to quickly make a choice. It also doesn’t sound like something that would interest me, but more to come later. Saving: Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
