  1. He didn't last much longer. He didn't do that much after the show. Whereas Catie Turner got herself eliminated. She focused on her song writing as an indie artist, eventually got signed to a major label. We saw her come back last season as a mentor.
  2. Some are better than others with originals - and it has worked for them. I don't know what happened with KB? Catie Turner messed up her lyrics, but she handled it like a pro. She said she should be eliminated over Michael J. Hunter Metts messed up, but he was crying and crying where he had to be consoled by the judges. He didn't last much longer after that.
  3. I don't follow him, but he could be doing that on the side. He has a young kid. Not sure how his music career is going. Just Sam who won Season 17 - was forced to go back to busking and working at Starbucks at one point.
  4. Noah Thompson has over 37M streams of his coronation song from less than 2 years ago. That still wasn't enough to save him from getting dropped by the label.
  5. The Idol fan base is not enough to kick off a career. The demographic leans heavily towards older, white woman. Viewers these days are invested in the TV show. Not so much what happens after. Lauren Spencer Smith will be a guest performer this week. She was voted off Top 24, Season 18. She focused on her song writing, reinvented herself on Tik-Tok. Did all the grunt work as an indie artist. She and her song gained traction, and it eventually led to a bidding war in the industry.
  6. I think people here are overrating how much it matters......to win. Last season. Colin Stough and Haven Madison were the first 2 to get record deals. The odds are stacked against the winner. Since Season 12, only Chayce Beckham has any kind of success. It's more interesting to see who can have a career after show. And odds are it's going to be people that aren't popular on IDF.
  7. I doubt the producer's really care. It's something that IDF always trips about. They are not going to alienate their base. They know the actual votes, including voting patterns.
  8. Abi needs to do an original. I’m sure the others will be reprising their originals at some point. She needs to show the industry she can do more than sing covers. She doesn’t want to end up like Megan Danielle. She was the last girl standing, but no label interest. It was Haven Madison, who finished in 7th place, who got a record deal. But she had positioned herself as a song writer. Lauren Spencer Smith, Gabby Barrett, Catie Turner, Jax, Benson Boone - all wrote their own songs.
  9. Actually the girls need to do some originals - to show they can do more than karaoke covers. Only Emmy has done that. McKenna has written a lot of songs. Don't know about Abi or KB or Julia. Last season, Haven got a record deal on the strength of her song writing.
  10. Quantavious deserves some kind of redemption. People here were convinced that he would be the first to be eliminated, singing a Carrie Underwood song. He's actually one of the best singers in the competition.
  11. So the earlier reporting was right after all. They weren't lying. Elleigh, Hailey, Blake, K-Blocks were eliminated.
  12. Caitlyn, thank you for telling your truth. It's very disappointing that Will turned a blind eye and didn't even have the decency to respond to you after you had reached out.
  13. I doubt this has any real impact. I equate this to the polls here where it always has a girl winning. And we how that usually ends.
  14. McKenna could be this season's Pia Toscano. She supposedly had a good night, she got the pimp spot. But with Facebook Likes, she is in the Bottom half. Nigel Lythgoe revealed that for Pia who was considered a front runner, her votes actually had been coming in towards the lower end. If the pattern continues, McKenna could find herself shock boot around the Top 10. And if she makes it in, she may not last long.
  15. I don't think McKenna is a strong as some have perceived her.
  16. Quintavious may not be as vulnerable as people here predicted. The FB likes are still evolving, but there are several worse than him. He was a child star on AGT. So he could have people.
  17. Those who find post show success have never been big fan favorites on IDF. Daniel Seavey, Jax, Alejandro, Gabby Barrett, Huntergirl, Benson Boone, Chayce Beckham, Colin Stough, Haven Madison. People here are stuck on winning as if it still means anything. It hasn't for years. And that all it takes is singing ability. It takes much more than that. The so-called best singer isn't always the most marketable.
  18. IDF will always favor the females, lol. There is no such thing as the "best singer". It's all subjective - based on personal preferences, etc. The real winner is actually determined in marketplace - by those who spend money on music, concerts. Sometimes, it is the Idol winner. Sometimes, it isn't.
  19. The Winner's curse strikes again. Since Season 12 in 2013, all the Idol winners got dropped after their first album, regardless of music genres. Sam didn't even get an album. Noah got an EP. Chayce dropped his album this week. He may be ok for now, because he has a Platinum single, even though he has not been consistent with his other songs.
  20. With the exception of Iam, none of the others, who were pimpled early on as TCO, favorite, won.
  21. The so-called best vocalists aren't necessarily the most marketable. The music industry isn't looking for good cover singers. It's more interesting to see who can get a record deal after the show. Song writing is a key. That helped Haven Madison. And whether it's Chayce, Gabby, Catie Turner, Lauren Spencer Smith, Benson Boone - regardless of their music genres - they were all song writers on their songs.
  22. But except for Iam, the early favorites did not end up winning. Example: The show kept pushing Gabby as if she had already won. And she ended up shock boot in 3rd place. Now, some of it was her own doing.
  23. Idol has always done that - push perceived front runners early on. And more often than not, it backfires. Viewers like to root for the underdog, see a growth arc. It's why the early chosen ones often stumbles. And with the quick eliminations that ABC Idol has, it's when shock boots happen.
