  1. Oops that’s taken cut Kim Possible?
  2. Malcolm in the Middle Wasn’t planning on still being awake to make a cut tonight, but baby had other plans so let’s do this . I haven’t seen anyone asking for the safety of this show this round, so I’m hoping it’s a pretty safe cut. It’s not a show that I watched religiously, but it’s definitely one that I’ve seen (and enjoyed what I’ve seen). Malcolm in the Middle is a sitcom that aired on Fox for seven seasons from 2000-2006. Like many sitcoms of this type, it tells the story of the workings of a dysfunctional family. Frankie Muniz plays the title character of Malcolm, who is a teenager that is revealed in the pilot to have a very high IQ. His being “in the middle” refers to him being the middle child living at home. While the earlier seasons focused mostly on his challenges, the show ultimately settles in to focusing on the entire family. Jane Kaczmarek plays his mother Lois, the feisty matriarch tasked with keeping a bunch of crazy boys in line. She was awesome in this role and had the distinction of being nominated for an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series every single year while the show was airing (7 times! Though, sadly, she never won). The bumbling but loving father Hal is played by Bryan Cranston. His laid-back parenting nature and obvious love for his family serves as a nice counterbalance to Lois’ more aggressive parenting style. On to Malcolm’s brothers... the eldest child is Francis, who is shown to be quite a difficult child. In fact, at the start of the show, he isn’t home because he has been sent to military school in Alabama. As the show progresses, he winds up emancipating himself and getting married, eventually settling into a steady job. Next in line is Reese, who is portrayed as a bit of a bully who enjoys giving Malcolm a hard time at home. Also, while he shown to be good at scheming (and randomly also cooking), the show portrays him as less intelligent than his brothers. Finally, Dewey starts the show as the youngest brother. He is also very intelligent, and gifted at playing the piano. Then in Season 4, Hal and Lois have another baby boy named Jamie. Also, in the series finale Lois finds out she is pregnant again with her 6th child. There were a few things Malcolm in the Middle did differently than other sitcoms of the time. One of which was often having Malcolm break the 4th wall and address viewers directly. Also, while it was a comedy, the show didn’t use a laugh track or a live studio audience. The show also utilized a “cold open” each episode that had nothing to do with the coming episode, which a lot of other sitcoms have done since. Also of note, is that the show never gave the family a last name. According to Wikipedia, the show’s creator said that was because he didn’t want to put any sort of specific ethnic label on the characters. The show has excellent critic reviews for a comedy, and is considered one of FOX’s greatest sitcoms. I actually had forgotten how much I enjoyed it until I started working on the write up since it has been so long since I’ve seen it. I’m hoping this cut isn’t too brutal for anyone, but it’s one of the few shows remaining that I haven’t received any safety requests for thus far. Saving: The Proud Family (by popular demand)
  3. Save The Proud Family Cut Malcolm in the Middle
  4. Probably won’t have time to do my cut/save til the morning, but I really have no preference out of this group... I’ll see what’s left in the morning
  5. Alright, kids! I was able to honor all the safety requests sent to me this round (though it’s definitely getting harder, even with not taking too many!)... Then I did mostly shows I haven’t seen/haven’t heard too many people discussing in these later rounds. Hopefully this isn’t too brutal for any 1 person NOMINATIONS Good Girls Inspector Morse Suits 3rd Rock From The Sun A Series of Unfortunate Events Dead To Me Girlfriends Hot In Cleveland One Day At A Time Raising Hope The Game The Middle Younger Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Charmed Dinotopia So Weird The Expanse The Man in the High Castle The Mandalorian Watchmen Kim Possible The Powerpuff Girls Queer Eye Strictly Come Dancing Sabrina, The Teenage Witch General Hospital Mad TV
  6. They will most likely be up later this evening, if anyone still wants to send me any safety requests
  7. The Sopranos and The Killing. Never watched Mr. Robot, but heard only great things about it, so I get it if that one gets saved over the others.
  8. Exactly! I was literally saving it only for that one season, so it was time to let it go
  9. No worries! We’re really getting down to difficult decisions for nominations! Speaking of, I’m starting to look at the list tonight to work on compiling my list... if anyone wants to send me a few safety requests, I will take them into account. Since there’s so few shows left, I would say try to keep it 5 or less? Any more I can’t guarantee safety because I will run out of shows!
  10. Along with True Detective, it’s sad to lose The Sinner and Mindhunter Hoping The Killing miraculously survives, otherwise this round was a bloodbath for my crime shows!
  11. True Detective Sadly, I am cutting this show because I enjoy pretty much everything left (I’m not familiar with the anime show, but I’ve cut so many of those due to not knowing about them that I want to leave that one alone). I’ve campaigned for its safety in the past, mostly because of the first season which I absolutely loved. True Detective is a show that is currently in its 3rd season on HBO, starting back in 2014. It’s an anthology show, with each episode acting as a stand-alone narrative. The first season starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust and Marty. The story jumps back and forth in timeline, spanning a murder investigation over 17 years. Along with the backdrop of the murder, the show explores Marty’s marriage and infidelity towards his wife, and Rust facing some demons of his past. The season was extremely well acted, and Harrelson and McConaughey played very well off of each other. I actually wasn’t a huge fan of the 2nd season which starred Collin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams, and was set in California. I definitely watched the season, but remember very little about it. Looking at Wikipedia reviews, I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t a huge fan. I have yet to watch the 3rd season (which stars Mahershala Ali), but it sounds like the quality is back up with this season. I’ve seen nothing but praise for his performance. Even though I’ve tried to save the show before, I feel ok with cutting it here (esp since I was really only saving it based off of my love for that 1 season). I may go back and fix up this write up a bit later, but I just wanted to get something submitted at this point! Saving: Chernobyl
  12. I’m confused by what’s left/valid to cut but I feel like it’s all shows I like Save Chernobyl Cut True Detective? Just gonna throw this out there for the moment and double check myself again before I do the write up!
  13. oops I missed Sola cut it. One second, lemme look again
  14. Save Chernobyl Cut Enlightened??
  15. Any chance of switching the cut? That’s what I was going to save If not, not a huge deal. I have another option...
  16. My Wife & Kids My Wife & Kids is a sitcom that aired on ABC from 2001-2005 for a total of five seasons. It starred Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell-Martin as Michael and Jay Kyle. The show focuses on the challenges they face raising their three children. In the first season, Jay decides she wants to go back to work, leading to Michael needing to spend more time at home with the children. Their oldest son is Michael Jr (or just Junior ). He is portrayed as quite dumb, often getting himself into predicaments and mispronouncing words. Later on in the show, Junior’s girlfriend gets pregnant and they have a baby boy that they also name Michael (or Junior Junior). Claire is their middle child, and makes the transition from preteen to teen in the early episodes, so she faces a lot of the issues that come along with that. Early episodes have her dealing with crushes, the pressure to get a push-up bra, and being embarrassed by her parents. The running gag for her (much like Junior’s lack of intelligence) is that she is clumsy. The third and youngest child is Kady, who is “the cute one.” She is actually quite intelligent, which as she gets older leads to her being manipulative with her siblings and parents to get out of trouble. Sadly the show was abruptly canceled after five seasons due to falling ratings. The show ended on a cliffhanger, because they hadn’t realized they weren’t getting renewed. In the fifth season finale, Jay wants Michael to get a vasectomy after reading about a much-older woman having a baby. They spend the entire episode back and forth on whether he will get one, or she will get a hysterectomy. At the end of the episode, Michael decides to go through with it but it is too late. Jay has just found out that she’s pregnant. Sadly, viewers never got to find out what happened with that situation. I believe the show still airs as reruns on several channels. It’s not a show I watched regularly, but I’ve definitely seen reruns of the episodes throughout the years. Saving: Sabrina the Teenage Witch

  22. United States of Tara United States of Tara is a comedy-drama show that aired for 3 seasons on Showtime from 2009-2011. It stars Toni Colette as Tara, a wife and mother suffering from dissociative identity disorder (otherwise known as multiple personality disorder). At the start of the show, she is frustrated with the side effects of her medication, so she decides to discontinue it. The catch there is that she knows her personalities will reappear once the medicine is out of her system. Some of the personalities that appear over time when she is under stress include: T (a flirtatious teenager), Alice (an old fashioned housewife), Buck (a man and Vietnam vet), Gimme (not really human, animalistic and destructive), Shoshana (a therapist), Chicken (a representation of Tara’s childhood), and Bryce (Tara’s half-brother who may have been the cause of her DID). All of these personalities are played by Toni, which is really impressive for her as an actress (and it looks like she did win both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for this role). Reviews I found all seem pretty positive, praising Collette’s work and the show’s portrayal of mental illness. However the show was cancelled after only 3 seasons. It actually sounds really interesting, but it is a show I’ve never seen (and one I hadn’t received any safety requests for) so out it goes! Saving: The Wire
