  2. Dragon Ball Super Sorry again! I feel bad cutting an anime show (and have tried to keep from doing that) since I really don’t know much at all about the anime shows. This round was rough though, as most of the shows were ones I had received safety requests for. Like I said last time, I think we’re probably at the point where every cut is going to make at least one person unhappy. So, on to Dragon Ball Super! It is an anime show that aired from July 2015-March 2018 for a total of 131 episodes. It is based off of a manga series of the same name, that’s story and editing was done by Akira Toriyama. Apparently, the anime series follows these plot outlines from the manga series. The show itself serves as a sequel to the Dragon Ball Z series (which I do believe my younger brother enjoyed while we were growing up). I don’t want to get too in-depth into the plot, because I will definitely butcher it. Overall, it takes place after the defeat of Majin Buu (which I’m assuming happened during Dragon Ball Z). The peace is short lived as Goku and his friends encounter even more dangerous opponents, the first of which is Beerus the God of Destruction. Goku needs to transform into a Super Saiyan God and use his new powers to fight these opponents. The show mainly aired on Fiji TV in Japan, though it seems that an English-dub version ultimately made its way to some streaming platforms and Adult Swim. Again, sorry to the anime fans but this was the easiest cut for me to make at this time. Saving: Below Deck
  3. Sorry! Things have been crazy here and I couldn’t stick around long enough to finish a cut/save... Cut Dragon Ball Super Save Below Deck which would leave Awkward as the remaining show.
  4. Mixed-ish Mixed-ish is a sitcom currently airing on ABC that just premiered in September 2019 and is currently in its first season. I was hoping this wouldn’t be too controversial of a cut seeing how new it is compared to a lot of the shows remaining in the rankdown. It is a spin-off and prequel to “Black-ish”. Tracee Ellis Ross acts as both a co-creator/executive producer and the narrator of the series, as it tells the story of the early life of her character Bow as she grows up in a mixed-race family in the 1980s. Anthony Anderson and Laurence Fishburne who also star in “Black-ish” also act as executive producers. Bow’s parents are played by Tika Sumpter and Mark-Paul Gosselaar (who Wikipedia tells me was a last minute change, requiring the pilot to be reshot). The family begins the series living in a hippie commune/cult. After the commune is raided, the whole family (made up of Bow, her parents, and her two siblings) is forced to relocate to the suburbs. Once there, the children struggle with their racial identity, which had never been an issue for them at the commune. The show follows them as they attempt to navigate school and embracing all sides of their heritage. Based on episode summaries, some of the early issues tackled include: traditions, family trees, stereotypes in sports, dating, politics, and hair identity. The show appears to have pretty solid reviews online and has been given a full 22 episode season. Hopefully it gets renewed again for the following season! Saving: Dear White People
  5. Wow these rounds are going quick! I really don’t have any preferences on these shows. Save Dear White People (since I saw a request for that one) Cut Mixed-ish? not dead set on this, so I’d anyone wants me to change I’m open
  6. Sad about The Mole cut, but pleased I was able to drag it this far Will probably eventually do a write up for it, as it was one of my favs off the list.
  7. Madam Secretary I see that Madam Secretary is a show that aired for 6 seasons on CBS. I find it strange that I really haven’t heard much about this show, seeing how long it aired on a major channel. The show stars Tea Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, and follows her time as the United States Secretary of State. It follows all of the political issues she and her team face in that role. In the later seasons, she actually runs for (and winds up becoming) the First female President of the United States. There’s a lot of other familiar names in the cast, including Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, and Sara Ramirez. In the 5th season, it also appears that Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Madeline Albright made guest appearances. The show seems to have generally positive reviews, though I did find a few stating the later seasons got “too political”. Since it is a political drama, I feel like that is a weird criticism, since it needs to draw from current events to be believable. Anyways even though ratings seemed to steadily decrease over time, it sounds like the show had a solid run, and here it lands on the rankings. Saving: True Detective

  9. Save True Detective Cut Madam Secretary?
  10. Raven’s Home I really didn’t have much of an opinion on the shows left, so I went with cutting Raven’s Home. Raven’s Home is a sitcom airing on the Disney Channel since July 2017 which is a spin-off to That’s So Raven. The show stars Raven-Symone and Anneliese van der Pol reprising their roles as friends Raven Baxter and Chelsea (Daniels) Grayson. The pair are both divorced single mothers, living together and raising their children. Raven has twins, Booker and Nia, and Chelsea has a son, Levi. Raven still has her psychic powers, and her son Booker begins to have them as well. It seems that they don’t wind up revealing that they each have the visions to each other until Season 2. A lot of the reviews I found were very positive, saying that the show does a good job balancing adult and tween-aged problems, and doesn’t suffer the overly cliche and cheesy writing that a lot of these reboots fall victim too. It gives the right amount of nostalgia while still feeling modern. Again, this isn’t a show I’m very familiar with (I actually didn’t watch much of That’s So Raven either, but I do know the general plot and main characters), but it sounds like it’s one of the better Disney originals out there right now. I’m sure people do enjoy this show, but hopefully it’s not a top favorite for anyone and this is a decent placement for it! These eliminations are definitely getting harder, as most of the shows left are loved by at least 1 ranker. Saving: Lucifer
  11. Harper’s Island Not an all-time favorite of mine (and definitely a fair placement for it), but I did really enjoy it while it was airing. I’m a sucker for the murder-mystery kind of shows. And this one was similar to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None or the movie Identity. I remember watching it with my mom and trying to figure out who the killer was each week (there may have even been some sort of online voting thing where you could guess too, if I remember correctly). As far as the Season 2 thing, I think the plan was for it to be an anthology type of show? So Season 2 would have been new people/plot. But still not quite sure how all of that would have worked

  13. Station 19 I enjoy a lot of the shows in this group of nominations, so I’m choosing to cut Station 19 since it is one of the few on this list I haven’t seen. I honestly wasn’t aware that this show is a spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy (since it’s been a few seasons since I’ve watched Grey’s as well), but apparently it is a spin off! The show has been airing on ABC since May 2018 and is currently on its 3rd season. It follows the firefighters who work at the Seattle Fire Station 19. The pilot was technically an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, and led to character Ben Warren deciding to leave medicine behind and become a firefighter, moving into that show instead. The main character is Andy Herrera, the daughter of the head firefighter (Captain Pruitt Herrera). Like many shows of this type, there is a mix of focus on personal and professional lives. Naturally there are a lot of crossovers with Grey’s (especially with Dr. Bailey being married to one of the main characters). Many of the reviews I found while searching weren’t stellar, saying that Chicago Fire is the superior of the two fire related shows. But honestly I haven’t seen either, so I’m not sure. Either way, for a relatively newer spin off, this seems like a decent placement for it. Saving: The Mole
  14. Gotham I’m cutting Gotham this round, which is actually a show I’ve saved once or twice in the past. I’ve only seen scattered episodes of this (mostly from the villains season), but I did enjoy the small amount I watched. Gotham is a show that aired for 5 seasons on FOX from Sept 2014- April 2019. It stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, a member of the Gotham City Police Department. The show follows him and his colleagues as they contend with the growing criminal underworld of Gotham City. The first season starts with the investigation into the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, and follows their son Bruce as he’s placed in the care of butler Alfred. While much of the focus is on the James Gordon character and his personal and professional life, obviously a decent amount of time is put into the Bruce Wayne story as well. As the show progresses, it also gives origin stories to some of our favorite Batman villains such as Penguin, Riddler, Joker, Poison Ivy, etc. The show received generally positive reviews and ended after 5 seasons. The series finale takes place after a 10-year time jump and shows the rise of Bruce as the masked vigilante we all know. This is a show that I did enjoy and I’ve been meaning to watch more of. But this is where it leaves the rankdown. Saving: Schitt’s Creek
  15. Catherine the Great Choosing to cut this show as it is one of the only ones left on the list that I have either no attachment to, or that I haven't received a specific save request for... I was going to cut Wheel of Fortune since I've been mostly eliminating game shows at this point, but it and Jeopardy are both such iconic game shows so I think they deserve to make it longer in the game. Hopefully no one was super-attached to this show, but as we're getting down more and more there really are no more easy cuts that will upset no one. On to the show (which sadly I haven't seen)! Catherine the Great was a miniseries that aired pretty recently (October 2019) on Sky Atlantic in the UK and HBO in the US. It was a four episode miniseries that stars Helen Mirren and tells the story of Catherine, starting in the 1760s after she's taken over the Russian throne (after overthrowing her husband) and spanning the time until her death in 1796. It details some of the challenges she faces from opposing forces. Wikipedia really doesn't give me much here by way of plot so I'm going to be pretty vague. It also appears to tell a love story between Empress Catherine and Grigory Potemkin (who served as a military commander). Unsurprisingly, reviews are all extremely favorable for Helen's performance and also the beautiful sets and costuming throughout the production. I also found a lot of positive things said about the performance of Gina McKee, who plays Countess Bruce who was one of Catherine's close friends and confidants. I did see criticisms in the reviews that I search which stated that the chemistry between Mirren and Jason Clarke (who played Potemkin) was a little lacking considering the amount of focus placed on their love story. Overall, this sounds like a well done period piece, but not one of the best ones on our list of shows. Saving: Angel

  18. This was a really hard decision... I decided against bringing anything back because I feel like any of the shows I would want to bring back probably wouldn’t survive that long once they’re back in the game. As far as immunity, there are a ton of shows I was between giving it to. But it seems like a lot of miniseries and limited series I enjoyed are being nominated/eliminated earlier than I would like... so I tried to think of which miniseries I would be most upset if it was eliminated before top 200. So I decided on: When They See Us
  19. Hm, not sure what I want to do yet. There’s a few shows I’d like to see come back, but I don’t know how long they’d last... so immunity may be better. I’ll think about it and post a little later this afternoon
