The films are mostly the same, but the directors cut adds in the storyline where he finds out his grandfather suffered from the same issue, a psychic tells him he doesn’t have a lifeline on his hand, his mom tells him she suffered from miscarriages before him and then the ending has him going back in time to his birth and killing himself in utero.

Look, if I want to spend two hours thinking life sucks and feel depressed as f*ck afterward, the director’s cut is there for me.
