Someone on the Digital Spy forum said that Nancy teased on her Facebook Live that she's getting a partner .  Hope it's true!

The latest tabloid rumour seems to be that we could be getting a male same-sex couple this year! It also is being said that Graziano may be the pro in the partnership. I didn't enjoy him when he was partnered with Vick, but I'm hoping maybe a couple years off the main roster may have helped him and I'd be open to seeing this. Definitely want to see another same-sex pairing after Nicola/Katya's journey was cut short!

I'm anxious to see if Nikita's been working on his ballroom, his partner on Let's Dance actually did quite decently on the Launch Show where she did the Tango with Andrzej who's also mainly a Latin specialist but has competed in some Standard Ballroom as well.  When she did the Viennese Waltz with Nikita, she was a totally different dancer in a bad way, no elegance at all and very awkward.  Nikita also didn't choreograph very much in hold and put in a lot of lifts likely to compensate for his own lack of ballroom experience which honestly showed in his technique; they got 4, 4, 1 compared to her Launch Show score of 5, 5, 5 .  She was also a totally mess in their second and last dance together, the Cha-Cha, one of Nikita's specialized dances and only got 5, 5, 2.  I just hope if he is getting a partner this year, he's had the self-awareness to work on his Standard Ballroom; it's not like he hasn't had opportunities, his competition partner has competed in both Latin and Standard so he's had like two years to learn from her.  

 

The British tabloids have already started in on Cameron, running a story about how he got kicked out of school for fighting which he said was in self-defense.  If what he's said is true (FWIW it doesn't sound like a violent fight, just a weapon-free schoolboy fistfight by the sound of it), I hope it doesn't affect his future on Strictly or play a part in him not getting a celeb.  The tabloids are also trying to claim "Strictly Curse" in the headlines of their stories on Kai's split from Giulia but don't mention in the headlines that the split happened months before Kai became a pro, just in the articles .  ISTG if there's a talented woman in the cast and they give her the Alexandra Burke treatment .  

I'm open to given Graziano another chance. I do feel bad for them  as they are almost always benched.  But then the other male pros seem more loved and popular so kinda makes sense (like with Nancy).

 

Thanks for all of these details on Nikita's time on the show. Thats a bit worrisome but hopefully he's improved.

 

Awww ugh that's messed up on what the tabloids are doing to Cameron and Kai.... but not surprising they would find some dirt and twist it up for dramatic effect.  And so sad to hear about Kai & Giulia's break-up.

I'm kinda surprised about Graziano potentially having the first male same-sex partnership. I would have maybe expected it for Johannes or Giovanni to have that honor. But yeah curious to see Graziano have another chance an hopefully he's improved since his time with Vick. And i did figure it was time for the male same-sex pairing this year.

 

Rumors ar speculating Alan Carr or Tom Delay. Don't want to get my hopes up too high but hoping for Tom Delay as he's been on Strictly wish list for a few years.

Personally not really a fan  but another strong/good name signing for sure  Definitely feels like a similar signing to Bill Bailey as a higher-profile UK comedian.

Tom Fletcher is our first celebrity contestant confirmed for a brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing when we return in the Autumn! Tom is an author, composer, musician, singer and songwriter, best known as a lead vocalist and guitarist in McFly, one of Britain’s most successful bands.

Actor and author Robert Webb is the second celebrity contestant confirmed for our brand new series returning in the Autumn!

 

Robert said: “I am ludicrously excited to be taking part in Strictly this year. It’s a big, generous, joyful show and I can’t wait to get packed into a spandex onesie and fired from a glitter cannon directly at Claudia Winkleman. At least I think that’s what happens. My goal is to try and survive from week to week without causing serious injury to myself or innocent bystanders. I know it’s going to be a challenge. To do well in this competition is a test of character, although mainly it’s a test of dancing.”

 

BAFTA winner Robert Webb is a television, film and theatre actor well known for his starring roles in Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look and Back, and for his comedy partnership with David Mitchell. Meet AJ Odudu, our third celebrity for Strictly 2021!

 

 

AJ is a TV presenter, having presented a number of shows including The Voice, The Voice Kids, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, Don’t Rock The Boat and Apocalypse Wow.

 

“I am beyond chuffed that I am going to be on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing and I'm so glad I can finally tell my mum. Her face will be a picture, she’s going to be over the moon! I absolutely love the show and am fully committed to making the most of every second of the Strictly experience. Bring it on!”

 

AJ has guest presented on The One Show, Lorraine and This Morning, alongside hosting the red carpets for the BRITS and TV BAFTA Awards 2021. She has also written articles for a number of publications, including Vogue, and is Contributing Editor for Grazia Magazine.

I always love ths time of the year with the Strictly reveals.  3 good names for the first 3 reveals!

 

I know Tom from/via McFly and Harry Judd but don't really know him personally that well. It's interesting seeing another McFly member here. But... I'm not as hopeful he'll be as good as Harry as when they double dip from the same band, the second member isn't as good as the first one.  Hoping he can still be good though.

 

Don't know Robert and he's the only one I never heard of. He seems fun/funny but not sure if he'll be one of my faves. Wiling to give him a chance though.

 

Oooh now AJ is someone I remember seeing/liking when she was on It Takes Two last year. And she had a vibrant personality of someone I would like to see on the show so yayyy for his casting! But reading her bio, she co-hosted Big Brother Bit on the Side and omgg all of a sudden I remember her from there.  So wow I know her better than I remember. But excited for her.

 

Tom and AJ are the ones I'm most interested in so far.

 

And hearing the next reveal will be tomorrow morning on Radio 2 Breakfast show? I don't really know what that is (but Lily should) but looking forward it!

So excited the reveals are finally happening!  
 

Here’s their ages and heights to give us an idea of possible pro partners:

 

Tom Fletcher: 36 and 5’ 11”

Robert Webb: 48-49 (turning 49 in late September) and 5’ 10”

AJ Odudu: 33 and 5’ 7”

 

Tom will be too short for Luba and Nadiya so that rules them out.  I also think Jowita might be too short to be considered.  I’m thinking someone in the taller, mid-height range like Amy, Katya or Nancy.  I’m leaning more towards Amy but if there’s more guys with his height then Nancy might get him.  
 

Robert I could see with Karen age-wise since she’s the oldest female pro and she’s the right height.  Katya could also be an option since she usually gets these kind of contestants.  
 

The scope of possible partners for AJ is a bit more open.  I think she might get a partner who is at least 5’ 11” since she’ll be in heels.  Gorka is obviously out since he’s too close to her height and I think Neil as well since he’s likely only a couple of inches taller.  Giovanni might work but his tallest partner, Laura Whitmore, was 5’ 6” so maybe not.  I would probably predict either Graziano or Aljaz.  Johannes and Kai might be too tall and needed for possible taller contestants while Cameron and Nikita might be too young at 20 and 23.

John Whaite is a chef, TV presenter and winner of the third series of the Great British Bake Off in 2012.

 

John said: “I’m so grateful, excited, and nervous to be joining the Strictly 2021 family. I’ve been wearing sequins and jazzy attire since I was three years old and can’t wait to hurl myself, full throttle, around the most glamorous dance floor on earth. What’s more exciting for me, is that I’m going to be one half of the first all-male partnership, which is a great step forward in representation and inclusion. Whoever it is I’m paired with, I hope they are up for a challenge as I want our routines to include lots of spectacular lifts!”

 

John has presented various TV shows and currently has a weekly cooking segment on Steph’s Packed Lunch. He has written for a variety of newspaper and magazine publications on the topics of food and mental health, and has published five cookery books. John also runs his own cookery school, John Whaite’s Kitchen.

John Whaite: aged 33 and 6’ 2”

 

John’s partner will need to be tall but not too tall if he wants to be able to lead; if he’s going to be leading then his best options are probably Graziano or Aljaž and if he wants to share leading and following duties his best options are definitely Johannes or Kai.  I’d say it’s between Graziano, who’s been rumored to be in the same-sex partnership, or Kai, who has experience partnering the same sex on DWTS Ireland.  I’m pretty torn with my predictions between those two because the same article that claimed Graziano was partnering a male celeb also claimed it would be Tom Daley or Alan Carr, plus Kai has the experience.  Vadim Garbuzov did a same-sex partnership on DWTS Austria and returned to Let’s Dance Germany after a couple of years off to partner Nicolas Puschmann in Germany’s first same-sex male partnership.  So IDK, Strictly might take the safer route as well by pairing John with an experienced pro like Kai rather than Graziano who had a rough first series as a pro and would already be under even more scrutiny on his return; add in the responsibility of the first same-sex male partnership and it might lead Strictly going with the more experienced pro.

CBBC's Rhys Stephenson is our fifth Strictly celebrity of 2021!

 

 

Actor and children’s TV presenter Rhys is best known as the face of children’s television channel CBBC, which he hosts live from CBBC studio HQ.

 

“I am BUZZING to be a part of Strictly Come Dancing 2021. I have dreamt about being on this show, and I know for a fact that it is going to exceed every expectation. I cannot wait to experience it all: the costumes, the orchestra, even Craig’s glare! I am READY!”

 

Rhys has also presented some of the biggest shows across the CBBC slate, including Blue Peter and Saturday Mash-Up!, and appeared on The Dengineers and Newsround. Outside of presenting, Rhys is an ambassador for Place2Be, a charity which provides mental health services in schools.

Ooh I hadn't heard of Rhys but I agree that his casting his reminding me of Karim's.  Who I also did not know but came to be one of my main faves that season so I'm excited to see how he does!

He will need someone tall so that means either Nadiya, Luba, or even Nancy, Katya or Karen.  I doubt Amy is in the mix since she had Karim, another CBBC guy, just two years ago.  I think he would be a great partner for Nadiya and she’s long overdue a tall contender; he has some dance experience so a definite upgrade from David James.  I like Luba but I wouldn’t mind if she and Nadiya switched places this year.  I also feel like Nancy would be a good match for Rhys but if he’s the tallest or second-tallest of the men needing female pro partners, I’d really like Nadiya to have a chance since there’s hardly ever any tall male contenders cast.
