  1. Yeah, I'd be down with that. And NBC would breathe a sigh of relief lol. She'd be the first AA female to win the Voice. Imagine that.

The MB part I'd be surprised after last week's bus, and I'm expecting another one next week, but who knows?

After the whole Gabrielle Union/AGT/Simon Cowell fiasco, I think pushing a Rose win would be somewhat beneficial for them. :whistling:

  2. Maybe this is the best or safest place to put this question. I usually have a fairly good ear. Does anyone else find Kat often pitchy & having a small weak voice that sounds shaky or unsure? This is what I hear, yet, she seems to garner a decent number of votes.

This is what I've felt since lives began, but it's not too horrific to make me absolutely complain. She's simply never had a truly good performance for me, although strangely, I don't think I've heard her deliver anything close to a trainwreck.

Even in the earlier rounds where people called it "angelic" or "soothing," I found it breathy and difficult to listen to. Honestly, she'd have been home a long time ago if she were on any team but Blake.

  3. Side note that I forgot to mention a couple weeks ago,

My best friend doesn't watch the Voice but knows that I do. Anyways, he asked me a couple weeks ago if I was watching this season and if I knew somebody named Will because I guess a good friend of his went up to SLO for a weekend like a bit over a month ago (this was before lives started) and saw a "cool guy" named Will perform at a brewery or pub or something and obviously it was him. He said his friend spoke to Will briefly and said he was super nice and funny (as if we didn't already know lol) but I think he also got a copy of his EP then and there, too.

Not too important, but hearing about their interaction and seeing that Will's legit a chill, humble dude in real life helped make my decision to root for him as my fave even easier.

And now the boi made semifinals! :w00twave:

  4. In my opinion, odds to make the finale:

    Jake: 100%

    Katie: 100%

Rose: 95% (if for some reason TPTB don't want her in the top 3... she'll be in the middle, but will most likely win save)

    Ricky: 95% (same as Rose)

Kat: 5% (the only person I feel has a realistic shot of potentially pulling an upset)

Marybeth: 2.5% (don't think she's a threat, but she's more likely to get saved than Will or HS)

Will: 2.49% (he's not a threat, but hasn't landed in the bottom yet so there may be some quiet fanbase in Team Minivan?)

Hello Sunday: .01% (Not getting top 3, will flop if by some chance they land in the middle 3)

  5. They don't need to bus Will...he's likely gone as far as he can go (to his credit actually.)

And I can't see them pimping MB one week after they threw her to the wolves.

    Anything is possible tho!

I wouldn't say she was really thrown to the wolves.

The wolves were always there and instead of doing anything to avoid them and move herself to higher ground, she stayed put where she was with okay performances until the wolves finally caught her because so many others had moved up. Her save performance was her final leap to safety and they got Joana and Shane instead.

  6. I feel like they’re gonna make Marybeth have the pimp spit next week in order to bus Will >:(

I've accepted that barring a myracle ( ;) ), Will's 99.99% done next week. They already have their ideal top 4 set with Jake, Rose, Katie, and Ricky - and whoever doesn't make the top 3 there will be in the middle 3. At best, Will can make the middle 3, but it's a steep battle for him to get more votes than any one of those 4 who land in the middle with him (plus whoever would be in the middle from Kat, Marybeth, and Hello Sunday).

Be proud of Will! He kicked butt and was authentically himself for several weeks, and his type of music doesn't usually get this far on shows like this.

Even with the greatest possible song choice for Will, whatever that may be, anyone outside of Jake/Rose/Katie/Ricky is a long shot. I'm inclined to say that Kat might sneak in for Ricky if they both land in the middle, but she's been dull and I don't think that'll get her votes in a middle 3 save over the desired top 4, same with Marybeth.

We did it #BLUECREW! On to another week!

While I do think this is as far as Will is gonna go (the Top 4 TPTB wants this season is just crystal-clear), I hope that Will can surprise us next week and reach the Middle 3 and give them a run for their money. Here's to one more push! :sorcerer:

I do agree that this is probably the furthest Will's gonna go, just based on who's been pimped this whole time, but I am BEYOND THRILLED that Will made it this far, and he's up against some vocal beasts, so I can't even be too disappointed if he goes home next week.

I do think that he's a very likely candidate for the middle 3. If he can keep up the momentum from this week and outperform Hello Sunday and be more memorable than Marybeth, he'll get there. His hurdles are the fact that he's gonna face at least one of Katie, Rose, Jake, and Ricky in the middle 3 - so he's gonna have to rob one of them in the middle 3 if he makes it.

That being said, I'm BEYOND proud of our blueboi/Oscar's Papa/50% of BreHall!

He's absolutely left his mark on the show. Not everyone gets him or appreciates his abilities (we all read the other threads lol), but he's undoubtedly one of the most artistically gifted, unique contestants of the season. :w00t:

  8. Rose Short - God's Country (10/10) - In case anybody forgot or hadn't thought about it in a few moments - we're blessed to be living in the same time as Rose Short. This was her best performance thus far, turning that dud of a song into something sassy and powerful. It wasn't overdone but it didn't feel like she was holding back. Rose Short deserves to be in the finale.

Will Breman - My Body (9.5/10) - THIS is the Will Breman that I've wanted from this whole damn competition. He went out and just gave one hell of a performance and didn't care about what anyone else said. It was the most confident and most comfortable that he's looked. Bless TPTB for giving him that closing spot.

Katie Kadan - Rolling in the Deep (9/10) - She's allowed to cruise through to the finale, so this felt rather uninteresting in comparison to what we've heard in the past, but she doesn't have a thing to worry about. She did a great job!

Ricky Duran - Born Under A Bad Sign (8/10) Simply put, my fear for Ricky is that he suffers from a lack of genuine "moments" in the competition. This was solid, and yes there was a fantastic guitar solo, but that guitar won't take him all the way. I still think they're pushing a Jake/Rose/Katie/Ricky finale, but the one I'm least sure about is Ricky because his songs aren't giving him the opportunity to stand out.

Joana Martinez - Impossible (8/10) - She recovered well from her misstep last week. It was her strongest vocal performance in the lives and in a perfect world, that should keep her safe until the next round. Sadly, we're not in a perfect world though - I do fear for her shot, especially with how low she's charting.

Marybeth Byrd - Lose You to Love Me (7.5/10) - I do think this is her best performance in the past few weeks, but I still struggle with what to think of her. She's shown her weaknesses in a previous and has a confusing musical identity that I can't gather my head around quite yet.

Kat Hammock - You're Still the One (6.5/10) - Similar to Marybeth, I think it was decently strong, but am concerned with what to think of her. All the remaining contestants can outsing her without issue and she remains uninteresting.

Jake Hoot - That Ain't My Truck (5/10) - This week I lasted to 1:05. It's not dreadful, but not worth listening to more.

Hello Sunday - Stone Cold (5/10) - I hope that the two of them look back at this performance and realize that vocally, they're better off as individual artists. Myla's a beast and had she sung that whole thing alone, that could've been one of the best of the night. Chelsea's grown so much and she actually did hit some of the notes rather well, but their voices do not blend well together. I've come around to liking them because of their growth, but this wasn't pleasant to listen to at all.

Shane Q - Caribbean Queen (3/10) - I genuinely think this is a kind, hardworking man who deserves to work in this industry, but he has failed on every occasion to deliver a good performance. The song choice is the clearest sign that the producers want nothing else to do with him, and I'll be damned if he makes it through tomorrow.

  9. Opener: HOOT (I don't think they'll give him the closer after giving him 2 penultimate spots in a row)

Closer: Hello Sunday (Thinking placement, song choice, and process of elimination of who it can't be...)

    Bonus: Rose (Thinking optimistically)

    B3: Kat, Joana, Shane

    Save: Kat

  10. I don't think Kat had any say on this song choice. She posted what seems like a goodbye post on IG a couple of days ago :(

Shania songs on The Voice are kiss of death songs. I don't remember anyone advancing after singing one of her songs.

    It's better that you don't

(poor Lilli was sick... but even then, that was hands down one of Adam's all-time worst song choices for his contestants.)

  11. I think the only truly "safe" ones tonight are Rose, Katie, and Jake.

Hello Sunday - a bold song choice. If they execute it well, they could very well escape the bottom 3. If they butcher the big notes, then... they'll probably just narrowly escape the bottom again.

Shane - If he avoids the bottom I swear...

Joana - She's been middle of the pack and fumbled a bit last week, luckily avoiding the bottom, but she's at risk with a more vocally demanding song than her past two performances.

Will - more appropriate song this week for him, but less recognition, and thus harder to connect with the audience.

Marybeth - she's been on a downward trajectory and this song could lift her up or bring her down. I used to consider her a lock for semifinals but I no longer think so since the interest in her has faded a bit.

Kat - her performance quality has been stagnant for weeks now. She's selling relatively well, but not sure how this translates into streams/votes. She could easily be a surprise bottom 3 if she doesn't at least stay consistent.

Ricky - I think of all of these that I think are at potential risk, he's the "most" safe, but he just needs to not suck with this one tonight and he'll be fine.

I think that with the exception of Joana and Shane (who are automatically at risk by having been saved - so they have to do especially well to be safe), it'll come down to who performs the worst tonight. If Kat or Marybeth do a bad job, then they're definitely at risk. If Will doesn't connect or nail his vocals, he could be there. If Hello Sunday gives a painful performance, then they'll land there. etc.

  12. Rose snapped!

Katie doesn't sound bad but the song choice is ehh. She's a lock anyways so this should be easy for her.

Will sounds great here, but the issue is that the song has very little recognition among the audience, if any at all. He's facing an uphill battle and has to absolutely nail it tonight.

Kat's studio didn't bug me. Maybe she'll sound proper tonight, this is a big song that everyone loves within the country/pop genre.

Joana got another Latina, who would've guessed. Christina's songs are big shoes to fill, but again, it's not one of her better-known tracks, which adds another layer of difficulty.

Hello Sunday sounds really good but I'm not confident that they'll be able to hit those notes and harmonies properly live (or, at least just Myla can).

Ricky's song is one that I've never cared for. It sounds good and I think he'll be fine, but it's just not exciting.

    Jake Hoot exists.

Shane Q? I couldn't have picked a better song for him if I tried or wanted to lol. Bye.

Marybeth sounds fine, but what lane is this girl trying to be in? Other contestants would've done this song better imo.

  13. Hmmmm..... A very unexpected song choice for Will this week. Although Will mentioned having a rock phase in his teens, I never pictured him doing rock at all on the show. I can't help but be a bit worried at this sudden change of pace, especially since this is a relatively obscure song. Hoping that Will can put my anxiety to rest tonight.

I haven't listened to the actual studio for tonight, so any comments about its quality would be appreciated. :flowers:

Glad you're excited about this one!

BTW did you catch that shoutout from Will in his last IG Live? B)

His version's less rock than the original (only listening to the preview).

It builds up progressively and I almost didn't recognize it at first.

Like, it sounds like exactly what I want Will's post-show stuff to sound like.

Oh damn, I've been missing every livestream this week and it doesn't seem like he saved it :(

    What'd he say lol

  14. Hello Sunday - Stone Cold (Demi Lovato)

Jake Hoot - That Ain't My Truck (Rhett Atkins)

Shane Q - Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run) (Billy Ocean)

Joana Martinez - Impossible (Christina Aguilera)

Rose Short - God's Country (Blake Shelton)

Katie Kadan - Rolling in the Deep (Adele)

Marybeth Byrd - Lose You to Love Me (Selena Gomez)

Will Breman - My Body (Young the Giant)

Kat Hammock - You're Still the One (Shania Twain)
