Vanessa Olivarez Oh god this is a chore. Another nobody from season 2. This one is slightly better than Charles, but that’s not really an achievement (also season 2 is extremely top heavy, there are like, 3-4 good singers in the mix). She had 2 performances, one was okay, and the other was a mess. That gave her the great placement of 12th. Since I have nothing else to say, let’s talk about her song choices (bc I will use anything at my disposal to get to 100 words). Again, not amazing, but this happened like 17 years ago, so I don’t blame her. Bye!

Charles Grigsby I’m starting to think I should have gone for bigger names bc this is so hard lmao. I have nothing to say about a “who?” contestant that only his mother remembers. But whatever, let’s see if I can make it thru. He was on season 2, where he finished 11th. As always, song choices are pretty standard fare for early singing competitions, so nothing screams “wow so original”. Also his voice is so mediocre. And that’s not an issue if you pick songs that can work around that, but MJ and Stevie is not gonna do you any favors. Bye!

Alexis Lopez (SF) I didn't watch S1 live (I watched the performances tho), but still, getting 100 words about a barely there contestant is gonna be a task. But if I was able to get through the filler in TV rankdown, I know it's doable. So, Alexis. She’s basically a middle of the road pop girl. Obviously the song choices aren’t that inspired or original (duh, S1), but singing the same 2 songs over and over? Bad move. And yes, singing I Will Survive will sound karaoke no matter how well you sing it. At least people have learned that by now. Anyway, bye!

Bucky Covington As I have said, it’s easier to remember someone that sticks around way past their expiration date. And on that front, we have a great example here: Bucky Covington. I love Season 5, but him? Getting to Top 8? Over Mandisa? GTFO. And he wasn’t alone in being a plague during that season (hi Kellie, hi Ace), but hey, we need to start cutting the chaff somewhere. I don’t remember if he ever did something after Idol (I hope not), but at least I never had to hear from him again, so that’s nice. Hopefully he stuck to anything that wasn’t singing related. Bye!
