  1. If When She Loved Me is one of Abi's choices, that's the one that will be on piano in my opinion. For better or worse, the judges have been really encouraging Abi to get off the piano, so she will almost certainly attempting to work the stage on one of her songs. Hopefully, whatever song choice Abi had landed on has enough for a vocal showcase that is closer to Bring Me To Life than My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark.
  2. I think last year for Double Disney they made one of their Disney picks a dedication. Maybe When She Loved Me will be Abi's second dedication to her deceased grandma, who passed away after Hawaii week. If Abi channels what affection she felt for her grandma, I'm sure it'll be a moving performance.
  3. The girls may have more memorable sob stories, but none of their stories are at the level of Triston's with his bout with homelessness and escaping domestic abuse. Triston has been actively sabotaged ever since he tried to move more on stage with the only thing that's been missing is performance criticism. I don't think they want Triston in the finale at all 'cause if Triston is in the finale, it'll be another Season 9 where story trumps performance quality with Simon constantly portraying Lee as a humble paint salesman who deserves a break despite Lee giving what was at the time the worst batch of finale performances ever. There's no way Triston loses with a sob story of that level if he makes the finale, and TPTB know that.
  4. I don't agree that the women were pimped to extremes this season. If they were, the guys would be criticized, and aside from Jack during the early stages of the competition, none of the guys who have made it to the finals have really been criticized. If we get an all-male Top 3, it's the judges' fault for refusing to judge. Triston is being gassed up as great even though he has sucked for weeks now, and if Abi misses the finale 'cause of Triston, I blame the judges for not doing their jobs. Relative to the difficulty of the work, being an Idol judge has to have the highest amount of money paid to work done ratio, making being an Idol judge one of the easiest jobs in the world. Idol judges are basically paid to sit on their asses. It's a really easy gig.
  5. We of course don't have the information to confirm whether what her father says is true, but I'm guessing if there was any time when Abi's instrument being damaged, it was in early childhood, not in her teenage years.
  6. I don't think TPTB love him. They have been trying for weeks to get Triston to give them Elvis energy when he's not comfortable doing that, and the quality of his performances has nosedived as he followed their instructions. This gyrating shit is not working at all. The judges have turned Triston from a guaranteed winner to a fifth-placer with their "advice".
  7. Apparently, Abi's father indicated on Youtube that Abi was singing in the womb according to their obstetrician. @wtcarter2 13 hours ago What a great tribute! I hope your wish is granted! Abi has had a burning desire to sing her entire life. Heck! Even before she was born! Our obstetrician, who had delivered thousands of babies, took off his headphones during Abi's sonogram and said "I've heard everything, but I've never heard this. Your daughter is SINGING!" Abi comes from a singing family. Her parents and grandparents include several amateur singers, choir directors, and piano players (church mostly). Mom has a beautiful voice and was singing constantly while Abi was in gestation. We watched American Idol together when it debuted in 2002. Abi was listening and learning and was born a month later. American Idol became a staple in our home for years to come. But pushing all that amniotic fluid around did a number on Abi's vocal cords! Early on, it wasn't apparent that she would ever have an angelic voice. But she kept singing and had AMAZING control. I told her: "You have a broken instrument, but you play it beautifully!" Well, thank God, that instrument ain't broken anymore!
  8. I don't agree with that. They do not want to risk Triston's bout with homelessness and domestic abuse story overriding anything about performance quality during the finale. Idol's core demographic, what some of you refer to as minivan, would eat up Triston's story and anoint him as their chosen victor 'cause they feel sorry for him. It happened with Lee DeWyze, who gave the worst set of finale performances ever but still won because Simon's constant portrayal of him being a humble paint salesman who deserved a break even though he was a terrible contestant. Simon Cowell is still the only celebrity I've ever cancelled because of the blatant unprofessionalism of trying to kill off a competitor to his show, The X-Factor, while he was a judge on said show.
  9. Hey, it could happen if Kane Brown defies the producers and tells Triston that the judges have been trying to set up his elimination for weeks with bad advice, and the kid does something as good as his Top 20 performance. I know When She Loved Me will most likely be a huge hit on the piano with voters, but that doesn't mean Abi's uptempo song choice will land with viewers, and it will need to if Emmy or Triston do anything remotely serviceable to show that they are competing with the rest.
  10. Personally, I'm worried about what Abi's uptempo pick is because she will almost certainly be doing another uptempo as one of her choices, and I hope it's a song she connects with that isn't way outside what the core demographic of the show would listen to as it's not a given that she'll be in the Top 3.
  11. I don't think there are any locks this season as it's actually competitive. Abi could miss the F3 if she has an off night while Triston or Emmy overperform. The judges are really leaning on Abi showing off her stage presence and if Abi is not careful, she could deliver a performance that is too flashy without enough vocal oomph, and that could get her booted on Sunday. Another My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark, which was tied for the lowest FB reacts of the night with Emmy's Water Under The Bridge, could get Abi in trouble. While the Disney theme suits her more than the other contestants, she is still not a lock. It will come down to performance quality.
  12. We was last or close to last in FB reacts last season at the top 5 point, so it was no surprise that she was cut. I think Abi mentioned something about really having her eye on When She Loved Me, so if that's one of her songs, it won't be a train wreck as she can feasibly sing it as a dedication to a departed relative. If she chooses well on her other song as well, she should be good for getting into the Top 3.
  13. Both Noah and Iam were dominant front runners. And notably, Leah had an emotional breakdown during her performance which prevented her from performing her song to its full potential. On a competitive season like this one, even the original songs round will matter.
  14. Abi would 100% lose if that was one of her song choices. She needs better material to work with.
  15. Jack gave his weakest performance with One and Only considering he sounded tired on that, so it's an interesting take to say that aside from Jack that everyone forgot it was a competition.
