The new series comes right on the heels of a two-season renewal for Bridgerton, with production on Season 2 already underway. The latest show to join the Bridgerton franchise will invite viewers into the origin story of the powerful queen, played by Golda Rosheuvel in the original series. The Bridgerton spinoff, which will be written by Shonda Rhimes, will “center on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte,” per Deadline. While the queen was not included in the Julia Quinn novels that inspired the series, she emerged as a popular character with fans of the show. The spinoff will also explore the early lives of Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh).
