  1. Two things to note: First, I didn't know how MAGA Laine was at the time (or I'd forgotten). Also, I'm not sure that I was quite as anti-Trump as I am now. Second, I honestly didn't think that Alejandro was a good enough singer. A great songwriter, yes. A fine musician, yes. A good singer? Not really. And I voted for Madison more than Laine that season. That was the main reason why I didn't vote for Alejandro. Well, I'll cut Triston a little slack because he's just 15. And the fact that he and his mom experienced homelessness is sad enough that even though I won't vote for him, I'll cut him more slack.
  2. Ooh! Who is it? Then I'm no fan of him either -- less because of the country and more because he's a Trump supporter .
  3. I'm not surprised that Abi got a platinum ticket. But I am glad that she did so. I hope that she doesn't become like Kenedi and withdraw from the show.
  4. Which is why unless Quintavious is capable of killing a Carrie Underwood song, I think that he’ll be one of the two contestants in his group eliminated. Tori’s mentoring Group 1 and Hailey is in that group, so she’ll get a second chance to meet Hailey.
  5. I can see Hailey doing well with an uptempo number as well. The problem with Quintavious isn’t that he’s doing an uptempo number, it’s that he’s doing a Carrie Underwood song, and you really shouldn’t do a song done by a former Idol winner! Even though he’s a guy, he’s probably still going to be compared to her and when you compare a current Idol contestant to someone like Whitney, Mariah, Celine or Carrie more often than not, the current contestant is going to come out with the short end of the stick.
  6. So maybe we’re going from 20 to 16 after the Top 24 and then 16 to 12, given that we have an extra week.
  7. Possible but I don’t think that Elleigh will get a strong enough edit. But I won’t prepare any early articles until after I see all the episodes prior to Hawaii. As for the clips of the three Top 24 contestants whom I watched: 1. Abi certainly sounds like a Top 10 contestant. Really nice. 2. Blake is good but I agree with those who say that he might fall into the cracks, especially since he’s in Group 1 and especially if he’s one of those who struggled. 3. I like Julia more now because she’s adopted like me. Her snippet sounded like she was screaming a little bit but still very good.
  8. Possible but unlikely. I don’t think that Abi struggled either, since she got the pimp spot. I hope that Nya wasn’t one of those who struggled. One person who I definitely think struggled was Quintavious. After all, he chose a Carrie Underwood song and we all know how difficult it is to do it song sung by Carrie.
  9. I have to agree that Abi is probably TCO, which is a good thing for me since she's one of my favorites.
  10. Agreed. Group 1 clearly has the heavy hitters, and all my favorites are in that group. I don't know if I'll vote for anyone in Group 2.
  11. Elleigh is definitely cannon fodder (especially with her song choice) and Kennedy is probably one as well. That's probably why they got in instead of Cate. At least cannon fodder will make my job of writing about why they lost easier for me.
  12. Well, at least now I can probably get a "Why Elleigh Lost" article ready ahead of time for my "Rules That American Season 22 Contestants Need To Follow" series of articles on the Top 25 ().
  13. You may have a point about "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" being overdone, although I do like the song. Maybe you can explain why someone should stay away from Kacey songs, as I'm not as familiar with her music as with Carrie's (for obvious reasons). As for Hailey, this is probably a good time for her to do an up-tempo song, since she's probably going to get into the Top 20 anyway, but if she does a slowed-down version of it (like mid-tempo) it might help her even more.
  14. Some thoughts and questions: 1. At least Nya didn't choose Whitney, Celine, Mariah or Carrie but how good a song choice is "(Simply) The Best"? 2. Why did Quintavious ever do a Carrie song? He's a male singer but I'd avoid Carrie Underwood songs like the plague. 3. I like Roman's song choice. While I probably won't vote for him (wrong gender), I'll at least enjoy his performance. 4. Will also had a nice song choice. I just hope the performance isn't too sleepy.
  15. Agreed. If she's smart enough, she'll have a better song choice then.
  16. Thrilled that Nya made it as well as Abi and Hailey! A tad disappointed that Scarlet didn't make it but she wasn't one of my favorites for the girls, so I'm not too upset about her not making it.
  17. I don't know what a degree in Biology has to do with Will's chances of winning or doing well, but the fact that he's played football and isn't a professional auditioner should help his chances. And he's a WGWG. But he doesn't have a sob story, and there's the issue of confidence. Oliver and Colin from last year showed the importance of confidence on American Idol. If you don't have enough confidence to take at least some risks, you won't win.
