I'm watching all these react videos on Emmy's performance. I guess that must be a huge thing on YouTube because they keep recommending me new channels. Most of these people weren't actually watching Idol but since it was the #8 most trending video people watched it and gave their opinions on it. They were all pretty blown away by it.

tbh both Abi and Emmy's feel like two of the first true "moments" of the ABC era (weirdly enough.) excluding Iam, who had basically all of his performances go viral on all social media platforms, there haven't been many iconic live show performances in the ABC era that have gained enough traction to reach an audience beyond the Idol fandom. usually it stops after auditions/Hollywood.

these performances are getting random people hooked which is what helps define a true "moment" for me.

  2. If Emmy's being strategic, she needs to stick to her comfort zone to keep the momentum going from her last performance imo. then she can have a riskier moment on Disney night to secure a spot in Top 3. i can already see them crafting an edit about her always feeling insecure and wanting to look like a "princess", and then she comes out dressed in a gorgeous gown singing a beautiful princess song. on that topic, Abi, Emmy, and Julia all have the innocent and sweet qualities to thrive on Disney night. female Top 3 whoo?? /j

  3. that does make me feel guilty and upset tbh :( but IDF is just NOT really a safe space for the contestants to be imo (besides their fan threads). i wouldn't say the discourse is offensive, but it is definitely very blunt and honest.

we spend a lot of time debating their "edits" and "sob stories." when you think about it, we are literally debating and comparing their trauma and how the producers are manipulating/exploiting it to present it to the audience. that can obviously be EXTREMELY mentally damaging.

remaining contestants this is your sign to only read your fan threads tbh! i love you all but the discourse is going to just get more and more intense the next 3 weeks.

I only remember Jordin Sparks being a teenager and winning, and that was back in the sixth season.

Scotty, Laine, and Iam were all teenagers, but were closer to pushing 20 I believe.

I feel like the only 14-16 year old we've had recently who has been able to consistently deliver strong performances is Casey Bishop, but she was truly a once in a lifetime talent at that age so...

Emmy could win. We’re overdue for a female winner and she’s peaking at the right time. She’d have to be literally flawless this week and next to pull it off, but it isn’t impossible

i agree - this is the most wide open season of the ABC era imo and i can see everyone except McKenna/Julia having a realistic path to winning.

the comments on facebook under the most recent posts of idols page are really interesting. lots of talking abt abi being the best and bring me to life having converted new people into wanting her to win. i think that performance might have been a game changer for her. i hope she can keep riding the momentum.

i've been seeing a lot of this on all social media platforms - let's see if these people are actually tuned in and voting though lol.

  6. Abi's performance is now at 3.1 million views/292k likes on the Idol TikTok! everyone like/comment/share (if possible) to boost it in the algorithm as much as possible. would love if we could bring in some passionate Gen Z voters into the fanbase 😍

  7.

    two takeaways from this:
    1) Katy picked You Will Be Found for Kayko and he told her that was his pick :dead:

    2) Katy seemingly acknowledged Reddit but im very confused at what she is saying? She said: "Actually he did message that that was the song he was going to sing, so I got like an online - he was doing a Reddit - and I got like an online one" :dead:

when it turns out shes an Idolforums lurker then what?

i like clarity for her voice. i think she could nail that bc it has the room for a strong vocal build-up. not sure if the other suggestions would translate well into a live performance for a competition setting but they’re good songs.

i think my ideal suggestion for her would prob be something upbeat that can fit the requirements of the theme but that still have a strong emotional resonance in lyrical themes. i was thinking maybe cough syrup by young the giant or even some paramore song.

ooh cough syrup and paramore in general would be great!!

with the EDM songs suggestions, i had it my mind that she'd be re-arranging them because the chorus' of those songs tend to have more music than words lol.

  9. i think for the dance theme Abi's best bet is going with some 2010s female vocal EDM vibes!

    - Clarity by Zedd ft. Foxes

    - Stay The Night by Hayley Williams ft. Foxes

    - Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch

    - I Need Your Love by Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding

    - Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey (Cedric Gervais Remix)

  10. 1. Abi - she continues to deliver the highest highs of everybody in the competition (though she is not always consistent with that). with KB going home this week and 2 girls probably going home next week, i think that is going to boost her voting power in the long term.

    2. Will - i think that as long as Triston is in this competition, he is being hurt. if/when Triston goes i think he can move back to #1.

    3. Jack - he's on the rise and probably is getting the best growth arc edit of all the contestants remaining. however, his edit prior to this week was very bland/forgettable so im not sure i can fully be convinced TPTB want him to win.

    4. Triston - his inexperience is starting to show. his duet with Will confirmed for me that he is likely not winning this season. i think he will be continue to be exposed with next weeks themes.

    5. Julia - she has the soulful powerhouse lane all to herself, is pandering to the country audience, and could

potentially have a strong home state fanbase.  not to mention how lovable she is! part of me wants to rank her higher.

    6. Emmy - she had a moment last night and i'm happy for her, but i fear that will be her peak. she will struggle with next weeks themes, and we have seen the past two nights that performances can very much dictate who goes home.

    7. McKenna - love her but something is not connecting between her and voters. as i have pointed out before, probably the "sexy" comments and Minivan being intimidated by her looks/talent.

  11. Reddit has now switched all their support towards Jack after Kayko's elimination lol. i'm not necessarily comolaining because at least Jack is good! i just don't understand why they are allergic to fully backing a woman lol. i think the only time that happened was with Casey Bishop in S19.

The Team Blake boost wasn't even that much of a thing in some of the later seasons. GNT beating Wendy is a big example. And Gina beating Grace in Blake's farewell season also definitely proves that.

I agree with Gina/Grace being an anomaly but not GNT/Wendy. The Blake boost has unfortunately never worked out for black women.

Yeah Jack isn't even remotely country.

right! he has literally covered Cher, Post Malone, The Weeknd, and Kacey Musgraves (yes Kacey is country but Rainbow is a gay anthem lol).

Remove all the pretty girls in your sig from the Top 12 and we shall see if you'd say the same thing.

i don't mean for this to come across in a harsh way, more so just confusion: have you even watched this season of Idol? you are allowed to have your bias to The Voice (i obviously have mine to Idol), but i have at least watched all the performances (besides tonights) and have shared my thoughts on this sub-forum before about what i do and don't like. thus, i consider myself credible to judge them both.

i haven't seen you referencing any specific performances or contestants in particular that you dislike, or why you don't like the season, so the criticism is just coming across as bitter to me tbh. if i'm assuming wrongly feel free to correct me lol.

Which show was most enjoyable between AI22 & TV25 was a conversation at one point but right now in terms of entertainment they're not even comparable. AI has turned into countryfest as every season does, meanwhile The Voice has just been getting stronger & stronger.

this is a valid take i think. The Voice will likely have more satisfying and accurate results, but the performances are not going to be able to hit the highs that Idol has this season with contestants like Abi/McKenna. the only contestants I can see pumping out a "moment" on those levels are Asher, L., or maybe Madison (imo).

  16. Triston not doing so well on Facebook tonight so far. has quite a few negative comments about wrong song choice/needing time to grow... he is 5th/7 in reacts right now.

i've been saying he isn't this invincible front runner some may think he is (same goes for Will; Abi and Emmy are ahead of him and Jack is tied. all performed after).

obviously it all has time to change but just making the point that they aren't simply just receiving a lot of likes because they are Guys with Guitars.
