  1. I wasn't sure. I do remember them saying "2005" back in the auditions, but they also consistently refer to Ava as "our youngest contestant", so I thought maybe Casey's a winter birthday and just turned 16.
  2. I wasn't happy when Madison was announced as making it through. But I'm glad she did. Hopefully this week is the norm and last week was the aberration.
  3. Well it's better than blaming American Idol, since they at least had the good sense to cut her early. Sadly, she somehow managed to become a star anyway. (And no, I've never heard her as an artist. I'm judging her solely based on her guest appearances on Idol, where they take credit for her like that's something to be proud of.)
  4. Well, at least my favorite contestant made it. And slayed again...honestly, it's contestants like Casey who make me miss the "vote for two hours straight for your favorite contestant" days. She's the only one who matters!
  5. Disagree. He was vocally poor on his solo, but saved it with his skill as a performer. The duet was just the two worst singers of the night staying still on stage.
  6. Why are they hyping Colin up so much? And what was Luke listening to; that was the breathiest performance yet. I'm already extremely disappointed with Group B, but there are really only 6 people in that group I care about so it's still salvageable. (Technically. Hunter isn't one of those six so obviously someone I want to advance is out.)
  7. Okay, someone's already been robbed. I just said I'd rather have 10 from Group A and 6 from Group B, but it could be 6 from Group A and 10 from Group B and Caleb wouldn't be on my list. He was marginally better this week than last week but that's not hard.
  8. I thought about it, and there are two in this group that I'm disappointed to see go, and only one that I'm truly disappointed to see stay. And then I realized, yes, I absolutely would prefer to have 9 from Group A and 7 from Group B in the Top 16. Actually, that might not even be true; I actually had Liahona 7th last week, and Colin 8th. Give me Chayce, Casey, Beane, Ava, Mary Jo, Hannah, and everyone from Group A except Wyatt and Cecil.
  9. Think you mean Andrea and Alana. Well, Anilee had one good performance, and it was the solo which is probably more important, but that duet reeked.
  10. Well, uh...it was better than Eddie Island? Very disappointed Wyatt's still here.
  11. Well that was interesting. The glasses and bow tie making him look like a professor, and it started so sedate but then he went big at the end. Dark horse Deshawn! Why did I ever let you guys make me doubt him; this is my favorite of the guys and I'm not backing down on that. (Well, okay, Chayce is pretty good too.)
  12. It's just unfortunate she had to end up in the same season as Casey.
  13. I felt it started poorly but got better once she started rocking out.
  14. Okay, calm down judges. I agree Willie was incredible, but settle down.
  15. Oh G-d, Alanis, don't scare me like that! I was just seconds away from cutting bait with a contestant I literally started the fan thread for. No more soft stuff, please.
  16. Wait, the vote doesn't open until the end of the show? You go, show! Anyway, not a fan of Alyssa's performance tonight although she deserved to be in the Top 16 based on her performances until now. Graham ironically managed to fix the problem with being "too old-fashioned" on a Frank Sinatra song of all things, and Grace was just amazing.
  17. The Second Chance has everything to do with last year being wrecked by the pandemic and you know it. I agree that this is highly unorthodox and probably unfair (weren't most analysts predicting an Arthur Gunn win last year? I'm amazed he's not in the ineligible group), but way back when COVID first happened I feel like we all felt that the semifinalists should've been invited no questions asked, like even if they would've aged out.
  18. Honestly, I'm not surprised. Graham fits perfectly into what's believed to be Idol's viewership base, not to mention he legitimately sang well (then again, so did most of group A). Disappointed that he made it over Andrea, but not surprised--Idol's base has always skewed Southern, which means her bilingual performance, beautiful as it was, probably didn't go over well with the wall-clamorers (and no, it doesn't matter what her actual heritage is, all Hispanics are Mexican to those people.) No, the one that surprises me is Colin advancing over Hannah/Mary Jo. Hannah in particular had the advantage of having the country genre almost to herself that night (and over both nights she was the only female to fall into that genre), and Colin doesn't really seem like he fits what Middle America wants, in addition to being not that good.
  19. And Hannah Everhart's. Though in fairness, everyone else forgot about it too. Hannah Everhart
  20. I am very disappointed that this thread has been completely ignored ever since I made it.
  21. Oh dear lord, they couldn't have gotten the actually talented ones? Okay, yeah, a lot of the best of them were ineligible, but Dewayne, Faith, and Nick were bottom of the barrel (though I alone thought Nick actually had his one good performance of the year the week that we were voting), Louis was an early frontrunner who completely flamed out, and our runner-up...eh. Which is also how I felt about Franklin and Olivia. Makayla I like, though. She can stay. And Aliana was last year's "fodder edit that was actually really damn good", so I'm happy she gets another chance.
  22. And I thought I was generous with my reviews. (Though admittedly I think I've been less generous this year than in years past). There's barely any negativity in here at all!
