True, but the songs that would have fit her the best, like the one we were discussing above, don’t have “big notes.”  I would have done it anyway, and let the chips fall where they may. Bryce got away with it.

She said she almost did “Something In The Orange.” After hearing her cover it, I wish she would have. “When You Say Nothing At All” is another one. No big notes, but who cares?

I think this is where the short season discouraging risk taking, and having big cuts every week in the lives comes into play. I think you're right, but audience loves big notes...especially from females. She kills those softer songs though

Speaking of Miranda, do you think more people will cover her songs on the show after Blake's departure? :giggle:

How many Miranda songs have you heard on AI lately? Yeah exactly. For everyone who is so keen on Miranda songs getting performed I would encourage you to listen to some Carly Pearce, Ashley mcbryde, and Lainey Wilson to find some contemporary country female covers you might like them to sing

(also over you is also a Blake song,

and he has performed it post divorce, I don’t think that’s why it hasn’t been performed. It was (I think) performed only 1x in voice history and retired)

  3. Let’s try this - putting it in multiple spots

    1. Many of the voice staff are sag-aftra members (not just John and Reba)

    2. sag-aftra has a number of different contracts their members work under, depending on what they are filming

    3. The current contract that has expired is for film/scripted tv (for example if their is acting), and that is what is being impacted by the strike

    4. reality tv like the voice, and also news programmed, are under DIFFERENT CONTRACTS, and are not currently impacted by the strike

    Here before we:

    - Get the next Kenzie Wheeler/Bryce Leatherwood, and based on SM material before the show we say "Hmm, he's actually pretty good. He'll go far but I wouldn't really mind, he could be the best country male we've had in a while"

    - And then, he proceeds to disappoint us in the live shows.

To late, we already have the "something in the orange singer"

  6. As of right now all taping dates for the voice are still up. Given how much they scheduled this summer, and the fact that they were fine with having blinds in July, my suspicion has always been that the SAG strike wouldn't impact the voice filming.

As an aside Gwen is also almost certainly a SAG member along with Reba and John and Carson, as she has been nominated for a SAG award. But this contract might only be for movies and scripted TV work.
