This happens every season, and yet every season I have to remind people that ABC (and thus American Idol) has a massive tie-in in the summer with CMAFest. As long as that transpires, this show will continue to skew towards that demographic. Seeing as how it’s been beneficial for them, I don’t think they care.

I agree. The judges are useless and offer no constructive advice. Telling everyone they’re amazing and could be a superstar does them all a disservice. The days of Simon Cowell-era judging is gone (for good reason), but there’s a happy medium. Shockingly, I thought Keith/JLo/Harry was the best panel because they all had different strengths and offered advice.

I’m fine with the joke auditions being gone, but six audition episodes and one Hollywood episode was a miss.

The theme should’ve been truly Rotten and the restriction was  under 10% because then I would’ve had some great picks.

I don’t really hold much faith in the social media numbers tbh. The finale has already been edited and sent to distributors, so the posts are basically just engagement.

I was actually looking forward to it when the song spoilers came out because I’ve been wanting someone to perform them on this show for years.

And there’s zero theatrics in my post. At least K Blocks performance last week was entertaining and a fun mess. Abi’s was dull, lifeless and sucked the energy out of the song.

But she’s young, pretty and inoffensive, so she can do wrong to this forum.

McKenna continues to be head and shoulders above everyone else this season.

Also I’m pretty sure Lauren Spencer Smith is the first time a semi-finalist has come back for a guest performance (since the comeback round was like an actual competition), so good for her.

Abi’s performance was horrendous. I don’t know why she did… that… to My Chemical Romance, but I truly hope it never happens again. Easily one of the worst performances I’ve heard in the 22 years of watching this show.

And I really need contestants to stop picking I Believe. You’re not Fantasia, you never will be, and you will always pale by comparison.
