Looking back at Season 9, Ellen was way too hard on Katie Stevens

Random, but I was watching old videos and Ellen was way too hard on Katie Stevens. She kept complaining that she wasn't "young" enough. Who cares if she sings an older song? Here are some videos for examples (I timed it so you can go straight to her comments):

I feel like she is the reason why Katie didn't go further. I think she could had been in the top 5 if the judges didn't sandbag her and she just listened to herself instead of the judges (like Ellen).

Katie had a nice tone but I never thought she had the vocal chops to take on some of the songs she did.

If Idol seasons could be judged on merit and mental health levels that one would get an F!
