Jon Bon Jovi is going to be a mentor during the finale. I know they have been making it sound like Luke and Lionel will be staying next season along with Katy’s replacement. But do you think that if one  or both of them leave, Jon Bon Jovi could be a judge?

Yes, I feel that if one of Luke or Lionel leaves, Jon Bon Jovi could end up as a judge, should he be interested.

  2. The more I've thought about it recently, the more I think I'd really like to see Demi Lovato potentially replace Katy. I think she'd fit in well with Luke and Lionel, seems to have a fun personality and most likely wouldn't be averse to providing the contestants with some criticism. And once again, I think Bebe Rexha, Katharine McPhee, Julia Michaels and Ava Max could all be a good replacement for Katy as well.

  3. I continue to want to hear Abi cover Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) by Kate Bush so badly. I'd also love to hear her cover Yesterday by The Beatles, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by the Eurythmics, Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey, Love Is Blindness by Jack White, Love the Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rihanna, Arcade by Duncan Laurence, The Power of Good-Bye by Madonna, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, The Scientist by Coldplay, Ordinary World by Duran Duran and Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson. I'd really like to hear McKenna cover Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles, Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield, either The First Cut Is The Deepest or Sweet Child O' Mine by Sheryl Crow and either Dreams or Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac. And I'd really like to hear Abi or KB cover Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. I wish All The Small Things or Adam's Song by Blink-182 had come out in 2000 instead of 1999 so Kayko might be able to perform one of them before he's most likely eliminated. But, alas.

  4. I'm really struggling with trying to figure out what song KB might be wise to cover from the year she was born. Maybe Why Can't I by Liz Phair could work for her or Are You Happy Now? by Michelle Branch. Stuck or More to Life by Stacie Orrico could be interesting songs for her to possibly cover as well. I also wouldn't be shocked if she's the one that ends up covering an Evanescence song instead of Abi, although I'm really not sure she has the voice for it. If she decides to cover My Immortal, she's really going to have to bring it. As far as Kayko is concerned, I think Absolutely (Story of a Girl) by Nine Days would be absolutely perfect for him to cover! I think a slowed down version of Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down, Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, Broadway by the Goo Goo Dolls or Wonderful by Everclear could also work for him, although it might not be a bad idea for him to sing a rearranged version of a pop song, like Lucky by Britney Spears or Gotta Tell You by Samantha Mumba. And perhaps Complicated by Avril Lavigne or Don't Know Why by Norah Jones could work for Julia.

  5. I'd absolutely love to hear Abi cover A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton, I'm With You by Avril Lavigne or All I Wanted by Michelle Branch given how great I think she would sound singing those songs! And even though I'm not much of a fan of hers, I'd love to hear Emmy cover Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer or That Don't Impress Me Much by Shania Twain. Jack might sound pretty good covering All For You by Sister Hazel. And McKenna might still be able to sing Time after Time since INOJ released a cover of it in 1998. That's all I have for right now. And given what my age is, most of you guys are still babies compared to me. I think the last time there may have been someone older than me on American Idol was around 2008.

^ I’ve had a bad feeling since I heard Meghan Trainor announced as a mentor that she might be their choice for the new judge. I mean she’s sweet and all but I think they can do better. She was a judge on Australian Idol and never said anything of value.

I agree with you regarding what my feelings would be about Meghan Trainor possibly becoming a judge on American Idol. I certainly wouldn't be too enthused. I think Bebe Rexha would potentially be a better replacement for Katy and shouldn't be too cost prohibitive, so I don't understand why she's not being considered more to possibly fill Katy's seat.

  7. My unpopular opinion is that I truly believe that Jack Blocker might end up winning American Idol this season. I don't think I'm going to be happy about it since I'd really like to see Abi win. But, in my opinion, Jack is playing the Idol game masterfully and his journey on the show is starting to remind me a lot of Chayce Beckham's journey on the show. And if Chayce was able to beat out Grace and Willie for the title during the season that he was on the show, I see no reason why Jack can't end up doing the same.

It could happen. The judges are trying to get Triston to give them Elvis energy with his extremely awkward stage presence. Who knows whether Triston will take the bait though.

And if he does give them Elvis energy, who knows if it will result in him getting more votes. Plus, being too energetic during his performances could potentially affect his vocals.

  9. The contestants I would like to see comprise the top 10 are:

    Abi

    McKenna

    Triston

    KB

    Will

    Jack

    Jayna

    Julia

    Mia

    Kayko

I feel Emmy is the weakest of the females left and I just really can't get into how Roman performs for some reason. That's why I'm hoping they don't make it into the top 10.

  10. While I know I wrote something similar in the spoilers thread, I thought maybe more people might respond to this topic if I made a separate thread for it. Anyway, I really hope none of the contestants cover an Adele song for Billboard Number 1 Hits night. I just think it would really be asking for trouble, especially given that there's going to be an Adele theme night in a few weeks. Also, if one of the contestants has to sing one of the judges songs, I really hope he/she will sing the song like there's no tomorrow if he/she wants to advance further on the show. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of ideas for song suggestions for the contestants for this particular theme. However, I'm really hoping that some of the contestants will consider covering songs that reached number 1 on the Billboard Alternative charts. And I would really like it if Abi were to consider covering Love the Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rihanna, Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie or Save Your Tears by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande. I think Disturbia by Rihanna, Shake It Off by Taylor Swift or Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift could be interesting songs for KB to possibly cover. And I think McKenna could do a good job possibly covering Fireflies by Owl City, Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, See You Again by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Beyonce, Flowers by Miley Cyrus or Willow by Taylor Swift. That's all I have for right now.

Her interaction with Simon during the Green Mile episode was one of the most gracious things ever. I think that did a lot for the show because I don’t remember Simon ever bringing up someone’s weight again on the show.

I, too, loved how she confronted Simon during that episode regarding the rude comment he made about her weight. And I still really appreciate what a great job she did covering Never to this day. May she RIP. And my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.

  12. I think some songs that could be interesting for Kayko to cover are Creep by Radiohead, Everybody Hurts by R.E.M., Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles and Just Like Heaven by The Cure. And I think I'd rather hear McKenna cover Will You Love Me Tomorrow by The Shirelles instead of Abi, should one of them decide to sing that song. McKenna might also sound good singing Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield or Here Comes The Sun by the Beatles.

  13. While I know it might be extremely risky to cover, especially given what a great job Candice Glover did covering it during Season 12, I wouldn't mind it if one of the contestants were to sing Lovesong by The Cure. Friday I'm in Love might be a better song for someone to possibly cover, though. I also wouldn't mind hearing another cover of Nothing Compares 2 U by Prince and I'll Stand by You by The Pretenders, although I would prefer it if a male could possibly sing I'll Stand by You instead of a female. I have a feeling Triston might cover something like Blaze Of Glory by Bon Jovi, but I wish he would consider covering something a little bit more unexpected than that, like the Dolly Parton version of I Will Always Love You. And finally, even though it's been covered way too much for my liking before, I wouldn't entirely hate it if McKenna were to cover The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.

    What about Abi?

While I know it has been covered quite a bit already, I really do think she'd do a great job singing Creep by Radiohead. I think she'd also do a great job covering Yesterday by The Beatles. However, if she wants to cover a song that hasn't been covered quite as much before, I think she could do a great job covering Ordinary World by Duran Duran, Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) by Kate Bush, This Used to Be My Playground by Madonna or Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) by the Eurythmics. I've also thought it might be interesting for her to possibly cover We've Got Tonight by Bob Seger since it was covered on Glee by Lea Michele's character. Oh, and I think Come Undone by Duran Duran would be a great song for KB to possibly cover, too.

  15. I have a few more thoughts regarding what songs I feel some of the Top 14 contestants should consider singing for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night. I think Nya could do a great job covering the Sheryl Crow version of Sweet Child O' Mine. I think she'd also sound good covering a Donna Summer song, like No More Tears, if she really commits to the performance. And I think McKenna could do a good job covering Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, The First Cut is the Deepest by Sheryl Crow or On The Radio by Donna Summer, should she sing it at a slower tempo.

agreed! We's performance of Something's Got A Hold On Me last season was the performance of the season for me because of the rock inspired arrangement and vocals. Hopefully more contestants do that this year!

While I certainly would like to see more of a James Durbin/Caleb Johnson rock and roll type of performance, I'm just real skeptical that any of the current contestants could pull something like that off, especially since most of them seem to struggle covering more upbeat songs. Anyway, I really appreciate that people responded to this thread. And I enjoyed reading about what types of songs people feel that the contestants should consider singing for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night.

  17. Well, even though a couple of my favorite contestants have been eliminated due to not performing as well as they needed to and poor song choices, there are still contestants left in the top 14 that I really like and am wondering what types of songs they should consider singing for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night. As I write quite often about the songs I'd like to see the contestants cover, I hope they pick one to sing that hasn't been covered to death before. It also should be a song that a large majority of the audience is familiar with. Janet Jackson and Madonna are both in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So I think the female contestants would be wise to consider singing some of their songs instead of a Whitney Houston song. I feel This Used to Be My Playground by Madonna could be a good song for someone to cover. Also, if a female has to cover a Blondie song, I think a cover of Heart Of Glass might go over better than yet another cover of Call Me. I'd love to hear a female possibly cover Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) by Kate Bush as well. I don't think any of the contestants could go wrong potentially singing a Beatles song. But, I would at least try to avoid singing Imagine if I were them. And if I were the contestants, I'd definitely avoid singing House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals and I Can't Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt at all costs. Anyway, those are just some thoughts I have as of right now regarding some of the types of songs I think the contestants should consider covering for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the types of songs they feel the contestants should sing for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night.
