I believe that kids shouldn't be competing. According to this website, the singing voice isn't fully developed until around ages 18 and 21. This is because the voice stabilizes since the vocal folds and larynx have reached full growth. The current minimum age is 13. Around that age (especially for boys), the voice starts to change due to hormones. With boys, the larynx and vocal folds grow larger, which causes the voice to become deeper. My choir director told me that she has seen some boys who were tenors as freshmen change to basses as juniors.  There are also some girls who are "late bloomers." My director told me that I was one of them as I noticed changes from ages 16-17 and again around age 18. I started to develop vibrato in my middle range around my 18th birthday.

A high school diploma or GED should also be required, and a college degree should be preferred. This would mean that the contestant would be finished with the required education and would not be missing too much class time (especially during Lives) to compete. Also, there should be a ban on contestants who have a degree in vocal performance, musical theater, choral music education, or other related fields or who made All-State choir within three years of their audition. These contestants would have received extensive vocal training and would be unfair to amateurs who only had training as a child in choir, theater, and/or private vocal lessons or who are self-taught.

Not that contestants really ever become  stars but I've always thought parents of child stars are betraying their kids childhood and leaving them out to dry so I've always thought it immoral.

I also kind of think contestants should be at least 16 or 17. Before then, they usually dont have much of an artistic vision and dont really have the life experience to pull off a song with any emotional complexity

I think just about anyone can go find a $15 per hour job right now, or close to it. If they can’t, they aren’t trying hard enough. And whether felons can vote doesn’t affect my life whatsoever. Don’t commit felonies. Overall, I don’t view you as I do most liberal Democrats. You seem more open minded than most, and you aren’t out there parroting the same ridiculous talking points.

Well I won't change your mind but there are a lot of people living on below 15 an hour. Poverty causes crime, health issues and a host of other problems which negatively effect society. Same thing with disenfrachising felons.

I hope the Democrat TPTB agree with you and run to the left. 😂

Anyway, I understand many of your positions are left of center. I get it. At the same time, you’re more in line with your Governor on covid mandates. If you elect a Democrat next year, you’ll probably be subjected to some of those mandates that you hate.  What is the most important issue to you?

The thing is people are more likely to vote for actual progressive policies. I'm not talking about the race baiting, neo liberal policies. In Florida, a red state, we voted for a 15 dollar minimum wage and to let ex felons get the right to vote back (before that was snatched up by Desantis after the people had spoken)

I'm not a fan of the covid restrictions and the identity politics of the left. But Republicans actually need to give something to vote for. The main thing I hear from Republicans is that "schools are trying to turn your kid trans" and "we have open borders" It's all fear based stuff with no actual vision for what the country wants. And its because I think they dont actually care about all the systemic problems in the country.

I do feel for those kids. This is the 3rd school year of wearing masks 7-8 hours day. I'm lucky enough to work from home for the time being but I think most companies outside the direct service companies arent even making employees wear masks. Its really unfair to ask especially elementary schoolers to handle this perpetually.

Bernie Sanders is just the gift that keeps on giving to the GOP…

?? No idea what this is referring to. But Wasn't Bernie some irrelevant loser with no credibility. I havent heard that name in months tbh 😘

On a different note, as someone who actually thinks a great deal about animal welfare issues when is the expiration date for the GOP on animal welfare issues? Before Halloween?

  6. So i officially am against Fauci now. He already had a checkered past with the AIDS epidemic and has been wrong man times about covid. Animal testing is gross and by and large unneccesary especially to dogs which are not similar enough to us genetically.  Now if only people would get upset by factory farming... but one thing at a time I suppose.

No way would I trust a booster touted by that man.

She's now 56, and that was 29 years ago, so she must have been 27 or so when it was released. That was her first record.

So I bothered to check the rest of the Top 20:

Jim from Jim/Sasha is a year older than her, so he must have been 28 when it came out, wonder if he heard it back in the day.

Paris is 32 and Holly is 31 if I'm correct, so they must have been 3 and 2 years old respectively when it came out.

Jeremy is 29, and was actually born months before Wendy's first album came out.

The rest of the Top 20 weren't born yet.

Other contestants that were alive, albeit babies, when it came out that didnt make lives: Katie Rae and Kinsey (both 6 years old or so), Manny (2 years old),  Jonathan and Parker (1 yrs old)

I'm sure the members of The Joy Reunion must have been alive too,( but fairly young) albeit I don't know their exact ages.

Jim is 57?? Now I really feel like a creep. I thought he is attractive but I literally thought he was 40. I thought Sasha was like a teen but maybe not

If Idol and TV have similar viewship, why the former crowned 4 black women (Fantasia and Jordin in the past seasons and Candice and Sam recently) while in the latter no black woman won?

Because the idol contestants are less polarizing. I havent seen all seasons of the voice but the ones ive seen are all r and b and gospel singers which isn't as popular with middle America. Sam was a pop singer and Jordin was a straight up pop singer. Kelly was more r and b influenced than both of them. Candace was more jazz inspired which is a popular genre for older people because its easier to listen to. They also massively rigged her season. The only exception would be Fantasia but she's more unique in the gospel/r and b genre than the contestants on The Voice are

  9. I would presume American Idol and The Voice have similar viewship. In 2020 a black woman won Idol. She was also a lesbian with tattoos and from NYC. Not exactly minivan bait. Sam sang straight up pop and I think that plays better. Gospel and actual R and B music is too polarizing stylistically

Factories being shut down for a few weeks caused a bit of a problem last year, but that’s not what is happening now. I won’t go as far as to say Biden caused the problem, but his vaccine mandates will make it worse, don’t you think?

Wait until there’s a shortage of prescription drugs. Stay healthy, kids.

What do you think caused it? Biden isnt laying off people or sending workers home. The supply chain issue wasnt automatic because America has so much excess and now the excess is drying up

Not school lunch, but more evidence of a food shortage.

Biden didnt cause supply chain issues. It started when factories were shut down for long periods during the peak of the panemic and this is the direct result.

  12. I think Hailey has the best chance to go far but I think 4th place is her ceiling. She has a good voice but as expected for a middle schooler doesnt seem to have a great connection to what she sings (based on what I heard). Brynn and Chevel both seemed to connect to their songs and both acted a little older than their age.

He’s barely above water in some of those blue states too.

Here’s the complete list of states where Biden currently has a positive approval rating.

    New York +2

    Delaware +2

    New Hampshire +1

    Oregon +5

    Rhode Island +7

    California +9

    Maryland +13

    Massachusetts +13

    Vermont +14

    Hawaii +16

Just sayin but sans CA  and NY I wouldnt mind moving to any of those if circumstances were right. My neighbor Alabama? Not so much

But Joe's numbers are pretty bad especially becuise majority of polls have a slight Democrat bias. But the Democratic party deserves it for their rigging the past five years)

I'm obviously against breaking an entry or spying or whatever happened. But she does not give a shit what is best for America. She cares about her career and pocketbook just like Manchin as well as long standing figures on the right like McConnell. They are the reason for America's downfall. Her biggest donor is Goldman Sachs

I’m actually shocked NBC is reporting on this.

I actually find this odd. I feel terrible for these caribbean island nations devastated by Hurricanes and poverty but how did all these Haitians manage to even make their way into Mexico in the first place? Mexico requires passports and other regulations just to enter

I mean…this is what you said two months ago, and you were right. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against the vaccine. I’d get it again, knowing what I know now. Probably not the booster, though.

    MNMa1Os.png

The way it was presented was more so along the lines of it preventing covid rather than usually just lessening symptoms. I guess I feel like even though the vaccine is far from perfect its a net positive or at the worst neutral so I dont get the uproar about getting it. But i obviously dont think you can mandate the vaccine to the general public and I'm over masks.

If he’s a nut, he’s a nut with an impressive resume, including a Harvard medical degree, and a Harvard PhD. He’s opposed to mask and vaccine mandates and lock downs, so I’m not surprised by the opposition from the left and the media. BTW, based on comments you’ve made in the past, I don’t have you pegged as pro-mandate or pro-lockdown.

For the mandates I think they should be dropped for the most part. I'm not sure about kids since they cant be vaccinated but I see both sides as this could be hurting their mental health being masked every day for years. And for the government enforced vaccines I'm fine with that.  I use the uno reverse card and if people dont like it then maybe other people didnt like getting fired over their sexual orientation😉

The left is absolutely losing their minds over today’s announcement of Florida’s new Surgeon General. There are even racist comments coming from the left.

Well looks like he is a bit of a nut. Anyone remotely associated with Stella"demon sex" Immanuel I wouldnt pick. From the Orlando Sentinel:

For starters, the new surgeon general took part in a news conference in July 2020 — organized by a group called America’s Frontline Doctors — on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court building to promote hydroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID (it’s not).

Ladapo was among those doctors in their white lab coats, as was Dr. Stella Immanuel, she of the demon dream sex theory. Another participant was the group’s founder, Dr. Simone Gold, who also has been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol by Donald Trump’s supporters.
