  1. Listening to the Kelly/Nick interview (on ET) he was saying that some of the contestants were sponges, and some were artists in their own rights, and that the later didn't work on the show. I am sort of wondering if Joanna, is someone he is putting into that category. I can see her having a strong viewpoint of who she is as an artist. For those types of voice contestants, Blake is a great coach, because he does tend to let artists showcase who they are.

Small News. Just confirming Ellen's is back Tuesday for the 2nd week so we only have Monday after the first week premiere.

I'm beginning to think Ellen has blackmail tapes on the NBC execs. Despite slipping below a 1 rating in 18-49 and a 4.5 share overall, Game of Games has been renewed for season 4

edit: sheesh I just checked the overall ratings numbers for NBC, and Game of Games is solidly middle of the pack. The Voice (fall season) btw is NBC's highest rated show in viewers this TV year, and second highest in the 18-49 demographic, so I highly doubt it's going away.

"You can have my jacket" had me cackling 😂

    That definitely looks like Allegra.

Also Cedrice - turned John but we already know she's the last chair turner so it adds up.

-Nelson Cade at 1:55 - he turned at least John's chair.

-Toneisha Harris singing I Want to Know What Love Is

-Tate Brusa singing Perfect with Nick on guitar. He turned at least Nick but not John.

Nelson Cade is from Baltimore (actually my neighborhood in Baltimore). The Baltimore sun did a big write up on him today

Maybe the difference in cost vs. ad revenue still makes Game of Games come out ahead of The Voice even if the ratings are much lower. Are the coaches paid per episode?

Coaches are paid per season, and at least so far the axing of Tuesday shows has not had a big impact on the number of days coaches work. So I’m not actually sure it’s a money saver either.

  5. Blake’s fans are also (generally) the least range obsessed. And also by genre choice, country as a genre tends to be less into range then say r&b.

I am hoping Blake lets her lean into more of the kacey musgraves/Brandi stuff & think she could do very well with that on the show.

  6. The last time they did taped play-offs they were filmed shortly after knockouts. Currently 1iota has no voice taping's scheduled. Flying contestants into and out of LA is an expense. If they were going to do taped play-offs at this point, I would expect them to film relatively close to when they would have filmed for live shows i.e. not till the end of March.

I'm going to hold off commenting specifically on any contestants, but from what I've seen so far I'm generally impressed at the quality of performances the contestants have been able to deliver. This isn't acknowledged that much on here, but this show is incredibly stressful to be in and that can cause the artists to be more nervous than they usually be and not perform up to their abilities. While there have been a few people that haven't given their best performances and had execution issues here and there, I can only think of one complete disastrous performance of the three tapings I attended.  A lot of these battles and knockouts are going to come down to preferences and how the coaches want their team to be balanced out.

I've really been enjoying this season so far,  at this point I'm not really sure who the front runner is in my mind, there are a lot of really talented people and they have different strengths. Probably one of the most interesting things about this season for me is there are a few stylists who also have power and range. I would say it's mostly the case that singers are either categorized as belters or stylists, but there are contestants that do well at both.

Regarding the move out of Stage 12, I didn't speak with any crew members about it directly but another audience member heard that they are moving to stage that is way on the other side of the lot. Stage 12 is the largest soundstage on the lot, I would imagine they would have to utilize multiple stages to house everything that they can fit in Stage 12. There was one season, I think it was Season 16 where they used Stage 25 for Battles and Knockouts and the size of the actual set was only slightly smaller even though the building it was housed in was significantly smaller so the audience at home probably won't notice that much of a difference with how the set looks.

Question, are you willing to divulge the team sizes?

    Thank you for the tip!

    TEAM BLAKE:

Toneisha Harris (Diamonds - Rihanna) vs. Cedrice Webber (Love on the Brain - Rihanna) - STOLEN BY KELLY

-Both were good, Toneisha "murdered" her song, Kelly says Cedrice's has the "magic"

    TEAM KELLY

Megan Danielle (Piece by Piece - Kelly Clarkson) vs. Cam Wesley (Say Something - A Great Big World) - STOLEN BY JOHN (Nick tried stealing as well)

-Cam got a standing ovation; both were very emotional

-Cam was originally Team John, faced Brandin Jay in battles, they apparently sang Señorita...

    TEAM NICK

Allegra Miles (Chandelier - Sia) vs. Jacob Miller (TBA)

    -Average KO, No steal

    TEAM JOHN

Mandi Castillo (Stand By Me - Ben E. King) vs. Thunderstorm Artis (Preach - John Legend) - STOLEN BY NICK

-Both were good, Thunderstorm has a unique tone but messed up the beginning of his song

-Both were originally 4 chair turns

    TEAM JOHN

Zan Fiskum (The Story - Brandi Carlile) vs. Joanna Serenko (Angel from Montgomery - Bonnie Raitt) - STOLEN BY BLAKE

-Both were good, Zan's tone is more "piercing" while Joanna's tone is more "specific"

-Joanna was originally Team Nick and turned Nick and Blake at the blind auditions

    TEAM BLAKE

Joei Fulco (TBA) vs. Levi Watkins (TBA)

-Both good, Joei was "generic country", Levi had a big voice

-Blake chose off of a "gut feeling," but Levi was better

    TEAM KELLY

Micah Iverson (Graveyard - Halsey) vs. Tayler Green (Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper)

-Both were good but the coaches had all been rooting for Tayler and were practically saying goodbye to Micah

-Kelly said Micah's performance was so good that she expected him to make the finale and his battle song was a Lewis Capaldi song

-Kelly had another gut feeling - chose Micah; people were surprised

-Micah is Kelly's only guy post-KO apparently.

No saves for KO's again, steals all used during the first taping as expected.

The 4 saves from battles will be competing in a 4-way KO and America will choose the winner.

How even is that going to work? Wouldn’t that have left an uneven number for knockouts?

We’ll know for sure in about 3 months!

Seriously, though...if she did lose her KO, it really might be time to cancel this mess of a show once and for all.

Well it is apparently the last day ever taping at stage 12 (note no this doesn't mean the show has been cancelled, just that we get a new location for lives)

Will the show’s viewers allow 2 male country singer winners in a row? Even though it’s never happened, it’s possible. The key is the voters need a strong alternative. Last season had that, but one was extremely polarizing and had terrible song choices, and the other two struggled to connect with the audience all season, despite being very good.

Blake’s mafia likes Kelly fine. So last season a whole bunch of them voted for Hoot because he was the only viable country singer. That gave Hoot Kelly’s fanbase + some of Blake’s & he won. For a Blake team person to win they need to hold Blake’s fans & get at least some of the causal cross-over vote.

It's worth noting that the tapings are 9:45 and 3:15.

If I recall correctly, they used to start a little bit later in the morning? That could be another explanation.

Yeah check-in times used to be like 10:30 and 2:30 or something around that. My guess is those check-in times are to accommodate more groups going in each session. Starting earlier, and a later start time for the afternoon group. Looooooong day for the coaches.

  12. Jonas brothers and Blake both have shows on Saturday, and then Sunday is the grammy’s. Jonas brothers then have a show in Europe on weds. That might be the reason for the 1 day. I think they have done one day occasionally in the past. It’s 8 tapings per session, so long, but blinds have 10.
