The girls have picked HUUUGE songs. Swinging for the fences. Looking forward to this.
-
Meh choice from Caleb? He's toast with this against those two!
-
Battle of the four-chairs! This better be good!!! These three can SANG! "Ain't No Way"... wow, Kaylee singing from the JHud playbook again! BOLD!!! Wynonna killing it as a judge!
-
Loved Alison, but yeah, Jacquie is next level. Really good first battle! Sad to see Alison go, compounded by the double steal for Tom (not that it wasn't deserved, but kinda wish Gwen stole Alison).
-
Niall with good song taste! Oooh, Alison improved from rehearsals. I like this! Not Jacquie level, but it's good!
-
Wasn't 100% sure about the Maren Morris choice, not that it's not a good song, but Jacquie SLAYED that! Still looking forward to "It's Too Late".
-
Aww, Jacquie singing for her little girl Her voice is incredible. Would have loved a battle between Jacquie and Huntley! Can we get a duet in the finale? The half step adjustment was spot on
-
Note: John, "And they pick their own songs this round." (from the cleared pool, of course) Wynonna!!!! Jacquie!!! Carole King!!! "It's Too Late"!!!! LOVE that song! Wow, sound coaching from Wynonna. Impressed, tbh
-
YAY! Knockouts baby!!!! About time too!
-
Very high technical paise from Niall vs. very honest assessment of her own team performance from Gwen
-
Okay, much better from Brandon. But those harmonies were a little rough, ngl Kara is fine.
-
Honestly, Brandon was rough in rehearsal. Luckily, Gwen recognized, and gave some solid advice. Hope it comes together!
-
BRANDY TIME! Let's gooooo!!!
-
Really hope so. With the braids, and I think he mentioned reggae in his post blinds banter, plus he sort of perked up when Gwen mentioned Bradley of Sublime. All points to reggae being his bag. He's versatile though. I honestly wouldn't mind more 90's rock for him along with some reggae, maybe "Black Hole Sun" and "Redemption Song" respectively
-
Huntley's voice is... incredible!!! Might be my fav male voice of the season, and "3 Little Birds"!!! The Taste!!! What are the chances we'll get to hear his reggae side in the lives??? Aww, matching braids are cute. Very good battle. She did well, but Huntley is undeniable.

If they're doing this arrangement, I hope they start the battle off in unison and/or harmonizing, before breaking off into individual solos. -

Oh, cool, thanks! That's a pretty emotional song, so it's got that going for it. I vaguely remember Kara saying she's a 90's R&B baby, or some such? Wonder how it'll work as a duet/battle though, especially for Brandon. This is confirmed, yeah? Edit: Brandon did earn a steal from John, so they made it work for them (for us, I guess we'll have to wait and see...) -

Aww, okay, thanks. Kara is the only member of the Top 12 from whom we've only gotten one performance so far. Curious to find out how she progressed, and with which songs. -

Hmm, is it just me, but does it seem like from the clip that Kara and Brandon are singing a ballad? What time do the contestants usually reveal their songs? Also, with Wynonna being mega mentor, I reckon that's a pretty good/timely choice, given the unfortunate death of Naomi and the recent release of the tribute album. With Blake leaving the show, TPTB would quite obviously want to retain as much of the country core base as they possibly can, so having a country mega mentor makes sense. Also, does it possibly pave the way for the "return" of the aforementioned Blake? As in, a later scheduled performance of this: Personally, I'd rather a clean break from Blake (for at least a couple of seasons before a guest reappearance), it's just too soon for me. If they do stage a Judds tribute, I'd much rather it be an all female coach/mentor trio of Gwen, Reba and Wynonna performing the song. That would be great! -
Agree with you, re: Kimberly's vocals -- so crystal clear and cuts through the mix. It was super close for me though, almost a tie between Kim and Payge -- the latter's emotional connection to the song really gets to me. In the end, gave the vote to Payge, but a bit of that was because I'm sorry I couldn't find a better video clip of her performance. I remember her opening being stunning, but it's sadly missing here.

Radiohead Poll here! :
-
[Part 1: "Creep"] Which version of Radiohead's "Creep" on TVUS do you prefer? Queen Kimberly Nicole's exquisite PMJ-esque rendition from Season 8, Payge Turner's "creepy", raw and emotional Season 19 tour-de-force, or the sweet sibling harmonies of Season 21 winners Girl Named Tom? p.s. - If anyone knows of a better, complete version of Payge's knockout, please kindly let me know/post a link. Thanks! Part 1. "Creep" (Radiohead Cover) - Kimberly Nicole (TVUS S8 Top 8 Performance) vs. Payge Turner (TVUS S19 Knockouts Performance) vs. Girl Named Tom (TVUS S21 Top 20 Playoffs Performance)
