But I think this season was like.. somehow both proof that the show ought to cast older and more mature dancers with JR and Kim bringing a different quality to their routines than the 18-year-old blonde contemporary girls the show runners tend to favour can (I did not realise TJ was 20 and Melanie was 19 at the time of the show, but tbh my point still stands) and also it was proof that the show was never going to stop casting those girls because they run away with the win over the others because open sexuality on TV threatens middle America/Canada or something sorry i usually leave my unhinged runaway sentences to DMs but hey here I am

And I have my reasons for liking TJ less than the other three but I do like her!! It’s just wild that I think while Vincent was a better partner than Everett for her in several respects I just am a Hater and don’t think he brings anything to most routines he dances lol

I’m not a Vincent fan LOL (I am a huge Melanie fan though) but the other three are #3-#5 for me so yes technically I am winning

Also the group routines when they get in here definitely get in here because they’re generally from seasons where we fight over who the best girl is and therefore the one thing that fans of them all can agree on and that’s the tea lol. I actually don’t begrudge someone not liking Kim because I think a lot depends on whether you can look past Emanuel’s often subpar performances in their routines together and it’s true she also had a journey where she wasn’t always the most challenged. That said I think she’s Great and I maybe like her only slightly less than JR and Melanie but her highs were super high and some of her routines are still my favourites of the season overall.

It is indeed easier to be a hater honestly because outrage is cathartic and fun in a way gushing just isn’t. That said I’m very surprised TBAH isn’t better liked, I was anticipating the Kim/Everett routine from Megan’s earlier comments but not this one. I will die on the hill that it’s superior to the other contemporary that’s yet to show up though why do I think that one’s going to win

I feel so ashamed of myself when Megan and I disagree dkdkd but I am somewhat an Everett apologist in general so also even as a “JR girlie” which I think is a false dichotomy at this point because I think I maybe like the other two girls better than TJ OR JR, I think there were a lot of her routines that made it where they didn’t really need to and some of TJ’s could have. See also I am an Everett apologist lmao. also re: afro jazzes, sometimes I remember that ca1 had two and neither of them had racist costuming (and the Melissa/Shane routine in CA4 did not also, which is what I meant when I wrote shosholoza in my comments, SORRY) and I’m like “imagine a world where they did this with Bollywood also… what a world”

I do remember actually watching a lot of these routines you haven't found but I think it was probably from Jim SyracuseMug giving me the video files, and he hasn't been around on IDF for a very long time :(( and the computer I downloaded them onto is also long dead and gone, alas

as there should be!!! there are several routines i actually wouldn't mind at that spot

Rankdowns are fun honestly because of the petty moves and cuts and what that leaves us, but I do wish we’d do more cumulative lists like Jess used to do so that we get a more objective picture of what everyone thinks is the best. Though that’s also: a Lot of work for one person, so I get it, unfortunately.

IMO we need more dutch exclusive rankings bc those seasons tend to be soft targets since fewer people have seen them

Sent! I had to think really hard about it tbh, this season was top-notch. I'm even inclined to agree some TJ routines should have made it in here that didn't, but that just speaks to how good it was across the board.

Mostly just sad about Medicine and Bird Girl but the latter is just a bit more of me thinking the Dutch seasons got done dirty ;;
