  1. The unfortunate truth is that the internet is a place where anyone can choose to express hate in any way they feel like. It's unavoidable to the point where any time any person chooses to share their life on social media, they have to accept the potential hate and criticism that follows.

This is why if at any point in auditions, someone is doubting their ability, they should wait before they try and be a part of The Voice. If they don't believe in their own abilities, all that will happen is that the negative comments they hear on a constant basis will knock them down and cause even more doubt. Meanwhile, the people who know their self-worth can more easily shrug the comments off and continue pursuing their passion because they already know that they have the talent.

(P.S I don't condone making fun of contestants or anything like that)

Everyone has the chance to move on, but in my mind Ray had more of an uphill battle to convince me. If he gave an incredible performance, like an A/A- and NariYella was a C for example, then I probably would’ve chosen him. Emphasis should be on the current round, but I also don’t think the past rounds should count for nothing.

In the Ellie/Braiden example, if I were a coach I just wouldn’t have let Braiden get that far to begin with, so maybe the KO performance is beside the point lol

Not sure how much that makes sense, but maybe agree to disagree? That’s how I feel at least.

(I like NariYella more than Ray btw, but she’s not one of my favorites, so I don’t think it’s an emotional reaction to her being eliminated for me anyway)

On one hand, I think this is entirely valid that underdog contestants should have to work even harder to come out on top, and that it can provide a good amount of motivation to really be the best you can be.

On the other hand, I think the fact that The Voice is a competition by default means that all contestants should be playing on an even playing field. I might be aware of what someone is capable of through other rounds (or even through hearing clippets of them sing outside the show), but they need to show that to me this round for it to mean anything

I believe both sides are valid, and if Chance chose to utilize the first or the second when deciding a winner, that’s entirely fine.

I agree with you for the most part. Yes battles/knockouts decisions should be based on how it went in the moment (see Micah vs Tayler, that's one decision I will personally always disagree with) but how do you decide when two artists are equal in the round? At the end of the day there are more factors that are inevitably taken into consideration. Part of the coaches critiques were also that they were very equal. The reason why I personally think NariYella should've gone through is that again, both performances were equally as "ok" (both did alright, no one did anything super special to push them over the other) but based on their past performances you can see who is more likely to give great performances and put up a fight later on.

I still like Ray (especially his personality) and won't call him "undeserving", but also of course people are gonna feel some type of way when their favorites (who have built up hype after previous strong performances) are getting eliminated over others who most people seem to agree aren't quite hitting the mark. This happens every season.

Oh yeah for sure, I 100% agree that if someone believes both people are equal, that it’s entirely fair and understandable to make that decision based on other factors. I think it’s more about the people who believe that one person is better, but still think the other should be chosen where it gets weird.

At the end of the day though, it is everyone’s opinion, and as long as no one isn’t saying rude and nasty things about Ray or Nariyella, it’s entirely fine.
