Let’s just say that if it wasn’t for Kelly, every single person mentioned probably would have signed with the label. She started the ball rolling on getting out of the label deal with Brynn, and then Chevel.
Republic doesn’t make any money on any of them, other than taking their share of touring/merch revenue, and the country winners seem to be more successful with that, post-show, so the argument you’re making doesn’t add up. The end.
Well then thanks to Kelly for not letting it happen.
Still your thoughts are confusing, you said here that

Oh, really? How much did they make on Sundance? Zero. How much did they make on Maelyn? Zero.
Actually, they probably made a little more on Sundance since they probably snatched some of his touring revenue.
I don't get this
Do you mean they(the republic) spent 0 for Sundance and they profited upon Sundance's touring and etc.
Or
Sundance failed to sell his records but they got money from his tours?

My expectation knowing how this show is:
1. Kenzie
2. Jordan
3. Rachel
4. Cam
5. Victor
If I cared enough/my faves:
1. Cam
2. Victor / Rachel
3. Victor / Rachel
4. Jordan
5. Kenzie - I just hate his hair
Ok, so Cam got PV twice over Jordan for nothing.

LOL, Republic did not "choose to let them go", those three had to jump through hoops to get dropped.
Republic just doesn't give a f*** about the winners and would rather just take a cut from their profits rather than lift a finger and help them.Lol. I didn't said that Republic just choose to let them go without any process and money involve. It's more like in the end they choose to let them go. You get what I mean?

I give up.Me too, nvm forget about that.
This is what I meant though
"The Traditional Role of the Record LabelDon't let anyone fool you, the purpose of a record label is to make money. Traditionally, to achieve that goal, record labels found music artists, developed them, promoted them, and manufactured and distributed their music in exchange for a percentage of revenues.
and I'm only saying that the reason maybe from their perspective is that Jake, Chevel, and Todd cannot sell that much given that Sundance = country and cannot sell that much that's why in the end they choose to let them go (with process and money involve) instead of insisting them to stay with the contract.

A 360 deal means the label takes a percentage of all the money they make, whether it be sales, streams, touring, etc. Sundance did a lot of touring, including 13 dates with Blake. He got screwed. That's what I'm talking about. LOL
It's all about the money.
Label = Republic Records right?

Oh, I almost forgot. It’s a 360 deal, so not only are they on the shelf for a year or more, but they have to give RR a percentage of their earnings from touring, merch, etc.
So, wdym by this?

They don’t promote any of them domestically or internationally, so I doubt that has anything to do with it. But they aren’t a country label, so that might. Incidentally, UMG does have country labels, so I don’t understand why they can’t work something out.7 minutes ago, FloorWax said:I don't think that's it, given they just ignore the winner every season anyway. I doubt they consider the possibility of the winner actually making them money
Even if they don't promote it's still all about the money.

I think that depends on whatever the arrangement is between RR and the show. Are they only letting country singers go? Carter signed with Republic. One thing I noticed, they are letting country artist go maybe because they are considering the international capability of the artist to sell. (I checked google again and found that even Ariana is under Republic too which is news to me. )
Since country is not as popular in other countries they are letting go of them.

You guys are jinxing it for Cam. This reminds me of S12, when people did that.
I'm not on IDF back then but to whom did they to?

Brynn: Signed with Republic. Got out a short time later. There were probably legal fees involved.
Chevel: Never signed.
Jake: Never signed
Todd: Never signed
I can see next
Cam: Never signed

If they sign, it’s usually at least a year of being on the shelf. Anything they write and record, while under contract, is property of RR. They leave discouraged, depressed and we often don’t hear from them for a while.Wdym? They can opt not to sign even if they win?
Honestly, even if Cam ends up on that record deal I think he will not sell that much of his record mainly because he's better to hear singing live (at least for me).
But who knows what will happen, he's 19 and if he's taking college better for him to focus on that first though while being stucked in this record deal.

Republic treats the winners like garbage, so it’s understandable why people don’t want their favorites to be stuck with that contract.Well I have read this
They can be stucked with that contract but I think not that long, they can opt to cut ties with them.
Still WINNING and taking home the voice trophy + $100k >>>>> being runner-up

All this talk about one cast member from Season 12 over the past 24 hours on a couple different threads makes me want to go binge watch all of my other favorites from the season’s performances.
Who????

It's been a while for me to post here
I don't really get why people don't want Cam to win because of the record deal/contract/whatever it is.
Honestly in a reality singing competition or any competition though winning is a big deal (even if the rewards are not that good) and ending as a runner-up is the worst.

What place did COUNTRY SINGER Keisha Renee come in?
I think Keisha is a convert she even said on her BA that she likes to do country-pop-soul. Of course it might be her strategy to do country because she knows and we know country gains a lot of votes in this show, but what happened? She didn't even made the finale.

Yep. People constantly complain about black females not winning but they forget Tessanne. They also forget that indie girls and rockers also don't do well on this show.
I know racism exists in this world but it's not the major factor here. Voters are just biased and they are gonna vote for those contestants whose genre they like. I mean if a person grows up listening to Country music and is not a fan r&B/soul then of course they're more likely to vote for Kane brown or Luke combs that Whitney or Aretha.

I seriously don't get why people don't consider Tessnanne as balck woman. Even she consider herself as a black woman and that's why she married a black man.

Desz doesn’t consider her black either. I wonder what Tessanne thinks about that? Aw, never mind. She’s probably been dealing with that her entire life, so this isn’t anything new to her. What?????

It confuses me... Brynn wasn't considered a country singer when she sang a country song. There is potentially more to this mischaracterization than simply song choice.
What??? I never heard Brynn singing a country song on the show. If there is, what is it?
Well I'm just citing example to what people thinks about Cam nothing more.
I also made a research about the difference between R&B and soul and here a short thing about it.
It would be correct to say that "R&B" encompasses all popular music made by African-American artists and marketed to the African-American public. "Soul" and "Funk" are each subsets of the larger category of "R&B".
Here some the first 2 links I found on google about it.

I don't wanna comment about this thing but it's still triggering me like avoiding that contract is overshadowing winning The Voice.
At the end of the day, most people won't care about it (not IDF though) but the people who doesn't know about that contract will really care on who wins the competition.
