S1: Devon Barley (plain basic and boring yet somehow he beat Rebecca Loebe??)

S2: Erin Martin (weirdest tone I have ever heard and not in a good way, she also couldn't stay on pitch)

S3: Daniel Rosa (he was the first successful returning artist, and frankly till this day I can't fathom how he turned a chair)

S4: Taylor Beckham (she was so underbaked, but at least she could say she lost to the winner)

S5: Anthony Paul (The Other Side was unintentionally hilarious)

S6: Ria Eaton (this girl sang the Cup Song, and badly)

S7: Justin Johnes (I remember hating everything about his breathy whniy voice)

S8: Kelsie May (probably my least favorite of all the country girls)

S9: James Dupre (I never got the hype around him, he was below average at best)

S16: Talon Cardon (at least Celia had a good blind)

S17: Shane Q (I just cannot stand his shriek)

S18: Cam Spinks (his singing is average, and he seems to have an attitude)

Kristen Merlin (S6): Her blind aired on the premiere episode, but that’s about all the help she got from the show. The next time we saw her with a full performance was 2 months later in the playoffs (!!!) since both her battles were montaged. And then her mic was cut during the climax of her T12 song. Yet she prevailed, and even safely avoided the T8 triple elimination week that sent home Sisaundra, Audra, and Delvin. Unfortunately, her luck ran out when they added a final last-minute Instant Save where she lost. Was she supposed to be the 3rd vote getter that week over Christina Grimmie? It’s possible but we will never know. Oh and of course she sang first in that final Instant Save.

Best: Jake Hoot (He’s got some really good performances like his battle, KO, semifinals and duet with Kelly. And his vocals were consistent for the most part too.)

Worst: Jake Worthington (His battle round with Tess was his best, and even so it was because of Tess carrying the battle. Otherwise, no other redeeming performances.)

TBH I like/don’t mind most of the people in this list, except for Jake W, Jesse, Josh G, and Dexter.

I’m mainly focusing on singers that got cut too early to show their full potential, but they did have some good performances (in brackets) that should have attracted more attention during their short run.

It has been done twice actually. First by Nadjah Nicole (S9) for her audition and again by Anatalia Villaranda & Missy Robertson (S12) in their battle. Granted, neither was particularly remarkable.

This song has already been sung by Donna Allen (S5) for her audition and Myracle Holloway (S17) for her Instant Save.

1. Arei Moon: First time hearing this song and she made me love it! Her performance, stage presence, vocals, everything was simply stunning.

2. Toneisha Harris: Super overdone song, but that was probably the best version I've ever heard.

3. Mandi Thomas: It was 20 seconds, but damn those 20 seconds were glorious. Upset that they didn't want us to see the whole thing.

4. Micah Iverson: Took me a while to get used to the song, but I didn't think this was bad? His conviction really sells the song for me. 

5. Tayler Green: I'd have liked it more if she'd sung a less overdone song, but still there should have been a steal.

6. Mandi Castillo: Might be unpopular but I just love her voice. Not a perfect performance by any means, but solid enough. I like how she ended the song.

7. Thunderstorm Artis: I loved his audition, liked his battle, but I'm not excited for this performance. He does have a killer tone, but I found myself losing interest as the song went on.

8. Cedrice: Her voice sounded like it's on the verge of cracking throughout the second half, but she's a good performer.

9. Jon Mullins: He went off the rails a bit after the key change. Also less is more; he belted through the song from start to finish.

10. Allegra Miles: Her diction didn't bother me as much as her arrangement; it sounded too loungey. Though I appreciate that she's also belting and not relying totally on her head voice.

11. Jacob Miller: Hate the original, didn't mind this as much, though it could use more dynamics. Is it just me or was his performance shortened?

4-Way KO

1. Michael Williams: I thought he was one of those singers who did well in the battles only to crash and burn in KO but he gave the best performance of the bunch. Pleasant surprise.

2. Samantha Howell: Default second place, but something about her tone grates me.

3. Nelson Cade III: The song doesn't go anywhere and he sounded strained in some places. Not a fan of the melodic changes either.

4. Todd Michael Hall: What the hell was this song choice??? Didn't fit him at all, especially with the poppy arrangement. The performance just felt minuscule and a bit cringey.

Girl Crush by Little Big Town. Meghan Linsey had a breakout performance with it in S8 Top 12, but since then everyone that has sung that song ended up being double montaged and eliminated. That song is cursed or something.

Imo these singers peaked at their auditions/battles and then just rolled downhill from there. I’m aware that some of them are better irl than their run suggests though.
