  1. Mary Kennedy and Aidan Fogarty complete Dancing with the Stars line-up

    IPB Image

TV presenter Mary Kennedy and Kilkenny hurler Aidan Fogarty are the final contestants to be confirmed for the new series of Dancing with the Stars when it returns to RTÉ One on Sunday, January 5.

Having graced our television screens for 40 years, Nationwide presenter Mary Kennedy said she is "really looking forward" to taking to the dancefloor in January.

"I'm quite petrified but I'm looking forward to learning new dances and doing something different," she said.

"I've always been a fan and I've come out to watch the live show every year it's been on so now it's time to pony up and put my money where my mouth is..."

With eight All-Ireland titles to his name, Aidan Fogarty is used to taking home his share of silverware, but this time his eyes are on a shinier prize… the glitterball trophy!

Speaking about joining the show, he said: "I feel really excited and really nervous.

"I've played in All-Ireland finals and I was coming up here today thinking I'd have taken an All-Ireland Final any day over this, but really excited and really nervous is probably the best way to describe how I'm feeling."

Kennedy and Fogarty join the previously announced Brian Dowling, Michael Carruth, Yewande Biala, Fr Ray Kelly, Gráinne Gallanagh, Sinéad O'Carroll, Lottie Ryan, Ryan Andrews and Glenda Gilson in the DWTS line-up.

As expected, we got the older woman spot filled as well as the male athlete spot filled. :haha: Looking forward to seeing how everyone does!

  13. To be fair, none of this season's female celebs deserved a perfect score. I think this is the first season where the male celebs were on a whole different level. Last season we had Faye and Ashley but this season I don't think any of the ladies were good at all.

Really hope Kelvin takes it but I have a feeling Emma will. She's been safe throughout the whole season and it would be neat to have Anton win, I guess.

Agreed with this. Especially when we bring up the fact that all-time greats Alesha and Kara never got their deserved 40s..... even though that's a story for another day. :ermm: And I know it's not fair to compare scoring from different seasons/judges. There's no denying that Kelvin and Karim have owned and dominated this series, and it's rare having two amazing standout males on the same series, with the women quite behind. I think Michelle & Saffron were the best of the women and delivered some amazing dances (Michelle's Foxtrot + Saffron's Foxtrot + Waltz) and had more to offer, but even they had clear weakness and don't really compare to the past legendary female celebs of the past. :ph34rwave: Emma could still get a 40 but don't think she's been quite there though her Charleston was super close to deserving that.

Definitely rooting for Kelvin to win it too. I would be happy with Karim winning but don’t think he has the votes to win it. Unless he pulls an Ore surprise win which don't see happening. But gahh, Emma's vote base is so strong and not to mention this being his best celeb partner, him getting his first 10s with her and getting to the final. I really feel like it could be geared of "Let's get Anton the win" moreso than Emma earning it. :ph34rwave: In Series 13 there was all that buzz to get him to the final with Katie, but she wasn't strong enough dancing-wise or fanbase win to win it - whereas Emma could have that fanbase.

    My thoughts:

Emma & Anton Cha-Cha - Their best attempt at a Latin dance, but still a pretty weak dance. I really wish she had a different pro because her Latin could've been better if she did.

Kelvin & Oti Quickstep - FLAWLESS. Like Diana said earlier in the thread, dance of the season. So fantastic and so, so deserving of the perfect 40 it got. :w00t: And to think he wasn't even initially cast on this season.

Chris & Karen Viennese Waltz - Automatically not the worst "Somebody to Love" VW by virtue of not being danced by S**n. Still not too impressive though. At least they scored him realistically for this. For a great VW to this song, I'll direct you to Queen Mel B.

Karim & Amy Argentine Tango - A really great job! I'm just happy we got a good Argentine Tango from one of these shows after DWTS dropped the ball with that this season. Craig with the 8, though. :)

Emma & Anton Waltz - Gorgeous! As expected, they nailed this. Anton really knows how to choreograph good Ballroom routines.

Kelvin & Oti Paso Doble - We all knew that Paso would suit Kelvin well, and he didn't disappoint. This was fantastic. This deserved all 10's TBH. Thank you for coming through with the 10 Motsi.

Chris & Karen Rumba - WHY ARE WE GIVING THIS 8'S, JUDGES? Literally. There was zero Rumba technique to be found on Chris' end of things while Karen did as much as possible to hide his shortcomings...which apparently worked since they got 8's for this. At least Craig realized that 8's are nonsensical scoring and gave him a 4 which is more accurate. Thank you Craig. I'm confused how this scored higher than his VW, which is better LOL.

Karim & Amy American Smooth- This was such a cute and enjoyable routine. It's hard to top their flawless Jive from last week, but they still did a fantastic job here.

Loved reading your thoughts as always, Amanda.

I was also confused with the scoring of Chris' dances too. I found his VW better than his Rumba (although the storytelling/performing was good in that but lack of technique was noticeable) too. And agreed that Kelvin's Paso deserved more 10s. I rewatched the show again and still thought ti was a fantastic dance.

Well honestly bone have deseved it outside of that one dance (Saffron's Waltz). The females overall were mediocre.

Yeah, it was definitely the weakest year in the female department from.... as long as I could remember.

  14. Just watched the last results show sooo…..

    Results show Thoughts:

    - Really loved the opening group routine that was a mix of Paso and Ballet. The ballet dancer and Katya were really great in that! Ooh Carlos Acosta is his name.

    eryYeVDvlNs

    - Really cool performance of Niall Horan’s “Nice to Meet Ya.” Really like that song. Also great dancing from Katya & Gorka in it too.And wow Katya got spotlighted in two dances this episode. :o

    - The Bottom 2 was Karim & Amy vs. Chris & Karen. LMAOO Chris’ “But against Karim, shall we just call it a night and just go home.” :dead: Clearly Chris knew his time was up and his time to go, but he’s a great likable guy with a fun personality and lmao love how he was able to poke at himself there with a positive attitude. Of course it was a unanimous vote to save Karim and Chris left. Very glad Karim made it into the final! And yeah Chris has done extremely well to get this far despite not being technically great and having the public on his side - but he did showcase improvement and had some really enjoyable dances. I would say he’s amongst my favorite comedian type celebs on this show. And actually really loved his partnership with Karen as they were so fun and great together… they were such a joy to watch. Loved their final words to each other too.

    MIBjw8d9c8Q

    You poor thing.

This question should only be reserved for Dinah. :bye2:

    RVd_71ZdRd4

    HALSEY + LAUREN JAUREGUI. (!)

What's going on with Dinah? :'( She was one of my top favorites of the group but is the one i least hear about. :( I don't hear too much about Lauren either like I thought i would have. But I do think Lauren is the best vocalist.

As far as fame goes it's Camila>>>>>>>>>>>>>Normani>>>>>>>>>>Ally>Lauren>>>>>>Dinah.

Not that DWTS ever really helps someone's fame lol, but I've seen a lot more of Ally lately between that and Miss Universe, otherwise I'd have Lauren above her.

Yeah I've been seeing Ally on sooo many shows and promoting her music since DWTS. Also seen her on GMA and a Disney Christmas special. She's keeping busy. Although "Low Key" was a nice moderate hit earlier this year.

  17. You can leave TS3 alone!

YOU DON'T KNOW MY #28. Leave me alone. :* :* :* But you're coming for Aladdin and Lion King, soooo....

    (I'm just being dramatic).

Is it Toy Story 3 since it’s the only one left that wasn’t released on VHS?

  20. I think Giulia might be getting Ryan who can move so yay and fingers crossed!

I also think John will definitely get a duffer, Deirdre and Mairead weren't obvious contenders prior to the start of their series being older and John is known for being the nicest of all the dancers like Jonathan Roberts or Tristan MacManus.

I would prefer Ryan the pro to get a middler or duffer since whenever he gets a contender he comes off cocky and obnoxious and super competitive. Last year, he had a duffer and left first but he was calmer and more patient since he didn't have a realistic chance at winning.

Digital Spy thinks that Brian is with Laura, one of the newbies, since they were spotted rehearsing together. Emily was also spotted rehearsing with hurler Aidan Fogarty.

Oooh that would be good for Giulia to have Ryan, if that happens which seems likely.

Oooh I can actually see John as the Jonathan/Tristan type, personality-wise. He had a great run with Mairead, and true she wasn't viewed as the obvious frontrunner/contender type and was more of a surprise type.

Lmao I read these comments about Ryan being like that with contenders. :haha: I only properly watched him last year with the older lady, Eilish I think was her name? He seemed really nice and easygoing with her but yeah I'm a bit afraid to see his competitive side.

Oooh interesting at this spoiler here. :shifty:

Ooh cool that Brian is on! Between him, Sinead and Yewande, this is definitely the most people I've known on this show, so definitely going to have to follow.

Anyone know places to watch old dances? I've always wanted to get more into DWTSIrl, but usually find myself burned out by the end of DWTSUS and SCD... but this year in general has felt a little underwhelming so I'm looking forward to watching this time around, and it'd be good to get to know the show/pros more too!

Yesss! She wasn't actually on the show that long and was one of the quieter contestants so I'm a little surprised she's on the show, but she was mostly popular in that time I believe. Hopefully she's a good dancer as I'm sure you'd also stan

I do find it funny that Yewande's doing the show with Curtis now gone, seeing as he was on Love Island UK this year too. :haha:

Ahh that's cool! I only know Brian (and know of Sinead, solely because of B*Witched but didnt know their names) but that's already more than I've ever known before. :haha:

There's a vimeo page with DWTSIRL dances here: https://vimeo.com/user46810372. I'm not sure if Season 1 is there but Seasons 2 and 3 should be. I also want to familiarize myself with the first two seasons if I can. Not sure if I can squeeze it in before the new season or wait until after this season.

Oooh wow this is interesting and surprises me how Yewande got casted - if she didn't last long and is a quieter personality. :o At least she was popular. And lol yeah it's really ironic that she's on the show but Curtis isn't. Kinda sad I didn't get to see Curtis as a pro. BTW Here's a cute clip of Yewande where she most wants to learn the Salsa and I'm already really liking her from this: https://twitter.com/RTEOne/status/1203240983288254464?s=19.
