  1. I’m sure that the current success of Benson’s “Beautiful Things” has got them all feeling especially brave.
  2. They seemed to stop directly mentioning American Idol or including any American Idol-related hashtags in their posts too. In one post, Abi even writes, “You’ve made [my] dreams come true”.
  3. Michael’s sidekick, Ethan Langston, has attended the Grammy Awards before too. Certainly, they are a big deal.
  4. https://thebroadcastmusicblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/musicians-listen-up/ “Tonight Nic and I went to a fantastic business meeting (or as I’d like to consider it a passion meeting) with the president of Wanduta.com Michael Morrison. And I’ve got to say, both Nic and I agree if you are a musician in the United States it would behoove you to check the site out and sign up for this wonderful movement to “help save the music industry” as Michael put it. They offer various things ranging from personalized health care to discounts around the country at hotels, restaurants, and car rentals so when you’re on tour and broke as a joke you can get that delicious mexican dinner at a price that won’t burn a hole through your wallet. The music industry is changing faster than we could have ever imagined. Are you prepared?” Perhaps that is the pitch he used to convince them to sign with him.
  5. https://www.reddit.com/r/americanidol/comments/1b1qyxf/prediction_on_abi_carter/ Kayko: “This is tea”
  6. If the 3 of them withdrew or were disqualified, it could be quite disruptive for production. All 3 are in the same Top 24 group and only 2 are suppose to be eliminated from each group. If it were to become known before the voting for that episode took place, viewers would not bother to vote at all that night, which would be an issue, as the producers are anticipating that voting data.
  7. I considered that too, but I haven’t discovered any direct link between them. Also, notice that their singles are merely credited to Groundwork Records, rather than in partnership with 19. Plus, if that were the case, I suspect Blake’s participation could create the appearance of impropriety, which the rules also address.
  8. In fact, I see that Abi and K.B. have now been added to the roster page on Groundwork’s website. They didn’t appear on it yesterday.
  9. To be clear, Blake, Abi, and K.B. are confirmed to be with Groundwork. Nobody else is.
  10. Well, the Groundwork Management C.E.O. did follow Kayko and a few others on Instagram, too. Maybe he, with the help of his buddy boy Blake, has actually been poaching or attempting to poach several of them.
  11. Perhaps the producers backpedaled, deciding it was in their best interest to keep up appearances while they figured out how to handle a situation and control the narrative, which they are known to have done in the past in various ways? I should also mention that photos of K.B. were removed from the audition episode #2 page on the press website and not re-added. Is that explained by an issue that was widely assumed to be related to audio or editing? https://www.dgepress.com/abc/shows/american-idol/episodes/702-1/photos/
  12. Groundwork Management is managing Blake Proehl, Abi Carter, and K.B. Richins. The key difference is that Blake has been signed with them for years (which the rules allow), while it seems Abi and K.B. signed with them very recently, presumably at some point after they auditioned (which the rules forbid). “4. To accept an invitation to participate in the competition portion of the Program (currently scheduled to begin in December 2023), you must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer that you do not have any contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from fully participating in the Program and/or entering into any contracts required by Producer or any of the other Program Entities (as defined below), including, but not limited to, an exclusive recording contract, merchandising contract, a live and/or global touring agreement, a music publishing or songwriting agreement, an agency live performance booking contract and an exclusive management contract (subject to paragraph 5 below). 5. In the event that you already have a management contract prior to your first audition in front of the Program judges, the requirement to enter into a management contract shall not apply to you provided that you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer and the 19 Companies (as defined below) that such contract commenced prior to the date of your first audition in front of the Program judges.Furthermore, in the event that you have previously entered into and are still a party to a music publishing or songwriting agreement prior to your audition in front of the Program judges, then you agree to promptly disclose the existence of such agreement to Producer and the 19 Companies, provide material details of said agreement and/or provide a copy of such agreement upon the request of the 19 Companies, and you further agree not to extend the existing term of such agreement. Additionally, in the event that you already have an agency live performance booking agreement prior to your first audition in front of the Program judges, the requirement to enter into an agency live performance booking agreement shall not apply to you, provided that you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer and the 19 Companies (as defined below) that such contract commenced prior to the date of your first audition in front of the Program judges. By accepting an invitation to be a participant, you must timely complete and return such participant agreements, releases and all exhibits, schedules and attachments thereto that will be furnished to you by Producer and/or the 19 Companies. In addition, you acknowledge and agree that Producer has the sole discretion at any time to render ineligible and disqualify any person who, in Producer’s sole discretion, is sufficiently acquainted with the development, production, administration, judging, exhibition or other exploitation of the Program such that his or her participation in the Program could create the appearance of impropriety.”
