Seasons 1-11 were pretty much classic Big Brother UK. It's a bit different from UK as they have nominations points. Like instead of nominating two housemates they get five points and give like three points to nominate Housemate A and two points to nominate Housemate B or whatnot. I actually prefer the points nominations system of BBAU to the one of BBUK. I think its more strategic deciding if you want to give out 3 points to one person and 2 to the other. Or 4 to one person and 1 to another. There's other twists and stuff like in the UK, but it's generally the house nominated and the public evicts. Then in S12 they changed it and tried to go closer to BBUS and it just hasn't worked at all imo.

Thanks for explaining all of this. I saw and was curious about the points stuff as I had no idea what that was either. But with that twist, it does sound really fun and strategic. :haha: Interesting that they changed the format so later into the series but it not working out lol.

Think I'm missing all Derek's write ups from today! There's still just over an hour left to get them in if he wants!

Brandon & Serene

BIP's Serene Russell Opens Up About Ex Brandon Jones' Cheating

I've seen a little bit of Bachelor in Paradise but I've spent more time doing write-ups for it than watching it. Blah blah the format blah who cares what I think. This is a couple chosen at random from the list from this show. First thing I see when googling is that they broke up and Brandon is a cheater. So that seems like a fine enough reason to eliminate them! Presumably they were vaguely entertaining on the program for them to win and also make it past the first round of this game. It seems that Brandon disputed the claims that he was a cheater. He wrote a whole thing on Insta about "his truth" which is just a disturbing phrase to hear from anyone. How about THE truth lol. I will not be investigating further

Beekman Boy Josh Explains His Amazing Race Win

I googled worst amazing race winners and a random reddit thread popped up so these guys lose the game. "The Beekmans probably take the cake for me since they gave up on like 3 challenges," says user fruitcakemofo. And they were available to cut so that's as far as I looked. These guys are goat farmers. Damn, whoever writes the fan wiki does NOT like them either lmao. "managed to win an upset victory when it mattered most to become one of the most unexpected winners the race has ever seen and the poster boys for the fact that anybody can win the Race." shade. Getting last place on a non-elimination leg is never a good look, but hey they played by the rules that everyone was subject to and managed to pull it out in the end. Looking at their placements for the legs they seemed to only barely make it in the top half of the placements a couple times and then pretty much every other time were second to last hahaha. Well, that's the name of the game! Stay out of last place!

Justine & Caleb

Love Island' Winners Justine Ndiba, Caleb Corprew Split | Us Weekly

Sola is not here to help me get rid of the dating show people so I've got to step up and do the legwork alone. This couple is the winner of Love Island USA 2, and per usual the first thing that appears when I search them is an article about their breakup. What even is the point lol. In any event, this particular split seemed amicable enough and they forever get to know that they were the first black couple to win and that they got to split $100K between them. So maybe there is a point after all... But then reddit says that Caleb is a liar F-boy who only chose Justine because it would help him win!? This has been a roller coaster of emotions but now I think I'll forget they ever existed.

Oh Derek's cuts are interesting.... as I was considering saving Brandon & Serene and cutting Josh & Brent. :dead:

Ughh the Brandon & Serene cut hurts a bit, as I reallly loved them and rooted for them as a couple. I thought they gelled and had great chemistry on the show. They were easily my favorite couple on the season they were on (which I forgot what number that was - season 7?). I knew of their breakup afterwards. Then I read some really disappointing post-show drama, which kept me from saving them and it was just UGH. :broken:  Still... I loved them on the show and they were amongst my favorite couples of the franchise. Wish they could have lasted a little longer here but oh wellz.

Dangggg Derek cutting another couple I put through. Ouch. :broken: Anyway.... Justine! Obviously I'm a big fan and love Justine on all of the many reality TV shows she's done. I really liked her and Caleb as a couple. Again, they had great chemistry and had a strong connection/bond that I really enjoyed following on the show. But then yeah Caleb had to mess it up with post-show drama and all of the stuff that came out of it. So that was all disappointing. 😐 So this is all conflicting for me of who to save/support and all of that.

Jeff Mauro (Food Network Star season 7)

undefined

Welll... a lot of my entries have been cut yesterday which has been rough, lol. Granted that many of them weren't all-time favorites or anything but that just means I just gotta care less, I guess. Though I do get it'll be different each day where each of us will lose more favorites on some days than other days. :haha: But okay, stepping off from my soap box to make some cuts now.

At the time of the show, Jeff Mauro was a 32 year old Corporate Chef from Elmwood Park, Illinois, who won the 7th season of Food Network Sta, which aired on Food Network from June 5 through August 14, 2011. I'm pretty much doing this cut to help ensure that we get the rightful Guy Fieri win for this show. Jeff's Culinary P.O.V. on the show was "Sandwich King." I'm not sure what that Culinary P.O.V. is about but cool to learn. Oh dangg, I don't see that much info on the wiki page, oops. But okay there is a Camera Challenge winner, which I would guess is a fun mini challenge before the main dish/food challenge? Jeff only won one of those on Episode 8. But boyy, he really did dominant and crush the competition for most of this season it looks. He won 5 out of 10 of the main challenges on the first 10 episodes. He won the main challenges on Episodes 1, 3, 4, 8 and 9. He had a high placement on Episode 5.

As most frontrunners do, he did have a weak/low moment where he landed in the LOW Bottom 2 on Episode 10. This maybe made him an underdog going into the finale? On the first part of the Episode 11 final, he was just IN/safe while Susie won the first camera challenge. However things took a change when Jeff really stepped it up on the last challenge. This challenge was where Jeff and Susie joined Guy Fieri to film their pilots. This was where they would film their food show and showcase how to make their dish. They had four takes to do this. Jeff ended up winning this challenge! This meant that he had his show, Sandwich King premiere the next week. Jeff looks like he has had a successful career, having hosted or co-hosted various shows such as The Kitchen, Kitchen Crash and Worst Cooks in America. Lol the last show is a show I really do want to see and I think I've sene a bit of it in the past. :giggle: But yeah, well done to Jeff on his successful career!

Charlie Bruce (So You Think You Can Dance, UK Series 1)

CHARLIE+BRUCE-ANN.jpeg

LOL okayyy, so Mr. Derek has been advancing a number of SYTYCD winners that I don't care for, which is cool and totally fair. But also at this point, I guess I need to cut at least one winner I don't care about, so I guess I shall do so now. :haha:

At the time of the show, Charlie Bruce    was a 19-year old Jazz dancer from Leicester, who competed on and won the first series of the UK version of, So You Think You Can Dance. You would think with Charlie being a young, beautiful, burnette Jazz dancer that she would be an IDF favorite - but that actually wasn't the case. From what I've seen, it seems like people fake stan her and she's kind of a meme type contestant? I didn't really watch much of this season but I did watch some dances here and there. Many people felt that Charlie didn't have many stand out dances - and it seems like people like Tommy, Alastair, Lizzie and Mandy were more popular, at least on here. I'm thinking many people were surprised with her win? Her standout dance was her Lyrical to "I Surrender" in which she danced it with Drew McOnie. I'll post that dance below.

Anyway, I also wanted to make this cut to help Matt Flint get the win for the UK franchise, as he seems much more loved and I do know of him/still hear about him (as he choreographs a number of group routines on Strictly). It's also kind of a shame that the UK version was kind of a flop and didn't take off as well as other international versions of the show. But at least Charlie will always have the title of the first winner of SYTYCDUK. Ooh and it's also fun to know and note that Charlie dated/is still dating Strictly Series 10 winner, Louis Smith, and they have a 3-year old child together now!

Russell Ferguson

Sorry but Kathryn McCormick will always be that girl to me so in turn, yes, I'll never get over this. Russell and Mollie did nothing for me and I was so sad Kathryn was robbed.

Anyway, Russell was a hip hop dancer and produced some good dances I guess. I couldn't remember any really iconic dances but maybe I am shielding my brain from that season because I was so mad about the winner.

Sorry to Russell fans but this cut shouldn't surprise anyone. My feelings about season 6 have been that way since the season aired. I am always the one cutting Russell so let us keep the gag going lol.

Taylor Hicks

640px-Taylor-Hicks.jpg

So, let's continue my theme of cutting winners who had no reason winning their season and cut Taylor Hicks. You had Katharine McPhee and Chris Daughtry right there and Taylor Hicks went on to win, lmao.

It's embarrassing actually.

Does anyone actually remember anything Taylor did or did he make a name for himself after winning? No and no again.

I had to go to his wikipedia page to even try to think of any music he has released. They educated me that the latest single he released is called Porch Swing in 2023.

Hicks made his Grand Ole Opry debut on June 16, 2023. So I guess he will always have that.

I find myself unable to watch The Voice anymore but that said there a good chunk of the Voice Champions left and that is also not great either lol so I am going to cut one but also save one of the very few I love.

Brynn Cartelli is the season 14 champion..what I do know from what what I have seen around social media and then Idol Forums is that Brynn Cartelli was a very underwhelming winner.

I watched a few of her performances and yeah ooof is that really the best they had? She clearly benefited from a very popular coach because without Kelly I am doubtful she would of won lol..

CALEB JOHNSON

Caleb Johnson is the winner of Season 13 of American Idol. Caleb Johnson was like an alternative rocker type of artist, that’s what I want to say but I could be wrong because quite frankly, I really didn’t care for him too much. I was much more rooting for Jena Irene, Jessica Meuse, Sam Woolf, Malaya Watson, Majesty Rose and MK Nobilette. Caleb Johnson’s just isn’t something that I enjoy and therefore when he won, I was extremely disappointed. But it’s typical with American Idol, my faves almost never win LOL. Anyways, Caleb can leave the rankdown now.

KYLA COLEMAN

Kyla Coleman is the winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24. I just feel like Tyra had already predetermined that Kyla would be the winner of this season because there’s NO WAY you can convince based on Kyla’s portfolio, modeling ability and personality, that it was giving winner. She is probably one of the worst winners in my opinion, I just never liked her. She was a fine person but should’ve been eliminated by like Week 4. So, that’s why I’ll be cutting from this rankdown early so she won’t be overstaying her welcome.

HANNAH BCYZKOWSKI

image.jpeg.c82e4f25d88887576dcabcff3f189500.jpeg

hannah (surname to be added when I can) was on Season 1 of The Traitors UK and she was basically able to win by default. She was a horrible faithful and had no proper track of the game, it was incredible how wrong she could be all the time. She just got lucky at the end that they had voted out Wilf. I was glad though because I despised Wilf. However, let it be known that I was happy that Wilf lost, not that Aaron, Hannah and Meryl won. None of them deserved to win, well I do like Aaron so maybe his win I was happy with but yeah Hannah & Meryl sucked so yeah it’s time for Hannah to leave the Rankdown.

Aww I love Russell so I'm sad to see him go. :( I do get and am not surprised Diana cutting him. I'm not like overly upset about it, but still sad as I did really connect to him, his run and rooted for him. I do think he was a victim of some bad routines. I'll never forgive this season for that first hip-hop they gave him, lmao. I really loved his Afro Jazz with Noelle, his two dances with Mollee and especially his Hip-Hop with Kathryn. ❤️

Of their respective show categories, I'm more or less fine with Taylor and Brynn going. I like them both but both are amongst my least favorites of their respective shows. With Taylor - there was a lot of other talent I loved and was more invested in like Katharine, Elliott, Chris, Paris and Mandisa - so him winning over them was disappointing. He did have some solid and really good performances though.

Then with Brynn, I didn't get to watch her season in full properly. But I do know I was/would have been rooting for Kyla. I think Brynn was a little too young to really showcase her potential (she was 14 during the show, I believe) and she would have been much better - had she waited 5 years or so. I will say, I LOVE how much Kelly has been invested and molding Brynn's career with having Brynn open up for Kelly and having her on her talk show multiple times to promote her music. Kelly legit believes in Brynn and I still hear about/see her and I love that for Brynn.

I do think Caleb is really talented. Not really my cup of tea but I do appreciate what he brought to his season. Though that was also one of my lesser favorite seasons so I was hardly invested in it. :haha:

Aww I liked Kyla. She was cute and I did really enjoy her. I get that she may not have had a super strong run. But I did like some of her photos. It was just hard for me to get invested in the VH1 seasons compared to the other seasons though.

ALI VINCENT

BIGGEST LOSER - SEASON 5

ali_vincent-1-9d4b5b6511404e708a0a625d30

Ali Vincent was the winner of the 5th season of The Biggest Loser, which happens to be my least favourite reality TV show of all time. Honestly, I regret ever watching it - I was young at the time, and I definitely fell for their marketing of it as being an "inspirational" show when, in reality, it was far from it.

On the show, Ali competed alongside her mom in what I believe was a family edition. At the time of her win, she made history as the first female to claim the title of "The Biggest Loser." Her journey was  impressive she was eliminated, returned to the competition, and ultimately won the grand prize with a total weight loss of 47.86% from her starting weight. Since then, Ali has been open about her post-show struggles, including gaining back the weight she lost. Nowadays, she seems to be happy with her current weight and is happily married to her wife, raising their children together.

With Ali speaking out at various times regarding her journey with her weight loss and weight gain, it shows how the show itself never addressed the reasons behind weight gain, or there's more to weight loss than extensive workout. In other words, it never provided contestants with real therapy to explore the root causes of their weight gain, eating habits, or lack of physical activity. Instead, the show constantly pushed contestants into intense physical activities and challenges, all with the end goal of winning a cash prize as a reward for their weight loss... I will talk more about the issues with the show in my write-up for Rachel.

RACHEL FREDERICKSON

THE BIGGEST LOSER - SEASON 15

rachel-frederickson_612x380_2-07c98c49b7a649a0a89bc032694e1e07.jpg

During the last reiteration of this rankdown, I’ve made my feelings known regarding The Biggest Loser. It’s truly one of the worst reality TV shows to ever exist - I would put it in the same category as The Swan and Celebrity Fit Club. These types of shows, where the producers and company find people with body weight issues - or other issues depending on the concept - and make them open up about their trauma so the public feels sympathy/empathy for them, and then give them a transformation in the process so, by the end, they can be seen as an inspiration.

In the case of The Biggest Loser, the contestants had to face hardcore workouts, being yelled at by the coaches who saw it as a competition, and would shame them if they didn’t lose enough weight.  Many contestants have come forward to express their issues with the emotional abuse they experienced on the show, the problems with Jillian Michaels’ coaching methods, and the lack of support once the show ended. They weren’t given the tools to really succeed outside of the show because the focus was always on working out and never on understanding dieting or the deeper issues behind their weight struggles.

By the time Rachel appeared on The Biggest Loser, it was in its 15th season, also known as Second Chances 2. At that point, people were starting to side-eye the show due to the issues mentioned earlier, but people were still tuning in, watching contestants compete against each other to see who would lose the most weight and win the big money prize at the end. Throughout the season, Rachel was determined to lose the most weight, and she was consistent with her progress. One notable example was her losing 18 pounds between Week 4 and Week 5, which was truly impressive. It came as no surprise when she made it all the way to the Top 3, and the question on everyone's mind during the final weigh-in was: would Rachel win?

The moment Rachel revealed her final weight, time seemed to stand still. She had lost a total of 155 lbs and weighed in at 105 lbs, down from her starting weight of 260 lbs. Everyone was in shock. This meant she had lost a staggering 59.62% of her starting weight - the highest percentage ever in the show's history, as winners typically lost around 45 to 55% of their weight. Following Rachel’s win and her reaction, the public began to realize that perhaps the show had finally gone too far. Did Rachel go too far, or was it the show? It was later revealed that, at the time of her final weigh-in, Rachel was actually underweight. She eventually regained the weight, admitting that it was a good and necessary thing.

In other words, Rachel's controversial win ultimately exposed the deeper problems with the show, and The Biggest Losertruly never recovered from the backlash. Anyway, I’m glad the show is finally off the air, and we can thank Rachel for playing a role in that - essentially why I decided to give her the win for the show over Ali Vincent.

Mickey & Pete

Photo_of_Pete_and_Mickey_Mouse_480x480.j

Oops...I mean

600x338_JM-with-Season-2-winners-19_1.jpg

Am I cutting them because I think they need haircuts? Am I cutting them because Mickey was on Traitors Canada and boring af? Am I cutting them because in a She's So Crazzzzzzzy Love Her moment they took off their pants to cross the finish line when they won the show? I think it's some combination of all of the above. Mickey & Pete were the winners of the second season of The Amazing Race. I didn't watch their season, but it doesn't seem like they raced too strong of a race. They were pretty consistently towards the middle to the bottom of the pack the first half of the race. They were consistently top three the second half of the race, but never won a leg till the final one. And they only won because they beat the girls at a rowing competition and they're experienced rowers. I understand that physical tasks are part of The Amazing Race, but I don't think a physical task should be a huge part of the final leg. Especially when it's an all guy team vs. an all girl team. I don't think I'd root for them otherwise though. Their "goofy" personalities are giving BJ & Tyler from TAR 9 who I also don't like. I've had a vendetta against TAR Canada and the show's refusal to leave Canada, but I did watch the most recent season and enjoyed it so I've thought about going back to watch some of the earlier seasons. But there's so many other shows I want to watch it's very low on my list of priorities. Ask me in like 2030 maybe if I've watched this season.
