We know TPTB always do what they can to get the narrative they want for their TV show. In which seasons you consider that the audience just say "Nah, we are not falling for that. Thanks"??

Pick as much options as you want from each question. And discuss.

As I was going through the options, I was amazed at how often they got what they wanted. I was also amazed at how often they let Blake win. Two notable exceptions to that were when there was a female country singer in the top 2. They did everything possible to pull the rug out from them.

there's been a LOT of seasons with pro-blake bias but i can guarantee you they did not want him winning season 22 with bryce, especially after the fiasco during the semifinals. omar getting a near perfect song choice and the pimp spot felt like damage control for sure, but they still really clearly wanted a bodie/morgan top 2, right?

I didn't really even think that TPTB had "agendas" during the first six seasons.  But for the first group, I picked season seven since I do think that they would've liked one of Gwen or Pharrell, their new coaches that season, to take it.  They didn't see it coming that both would make so many errors along the way and get wiped out before the finale instead.

For the second group, I definitely did start sensing agendas more.  They clearly wanted Alicia or Miley, one of the two new kids on the block that season, to win, and again didn't expect them to make the choices that they did.  Season thirteen was clearly a push for Miley again, with Jennifer as a possible backup, but Miley fouled up all on her own again, and Jennifer just had a personality too big and too strong for the cat ladies of Minivan.  (Seriously.  Why do strong, boisterous female coaches turn Minivan women off so much?  You'd think that they'd like stronger, more outspoken women over quieter, more submissive ones.)  Season fifteen I do suspect was a push for either Jennifer to take it with Kennedy or for Blake to get the first black country winner with Kirk.  They clearly didn't see Chevel's popularity coming, nor did they see Chris's quiet juggernaut of support.  Season seventeen . . . I'm fairly sure that they wanted either John to win with Katie or Gwen to win with Rose.  I don't think that they wanted Jake to win that season.  Season eighteen was clearly when they wanted Nick to win, hence so much Thunderstorm and even Allegra attention.  But Todd pulled out too many stops to get the audience to love him that TPTB didn't even try to temper.

For the third group, I picked season nineteen.  I don't think that they expected Gwen to finally get her win until Carter came flying out of the gate with his "You Say" Knockout and cinched with "Rainbow Connection" in the semifinals.  Many of us here suspected that they wanted Payge to win, if not at least be Gwen's finalist, given that she was leaked twice (Battles and Knockouts).  But I'm not sure whom they actually wanted to win that season.  Season twenty-one, I'm sure that they wanted Ariana to win, since that was going to be her only season.  They didn't expect Minivan to hate her so much or to make the decisions that they did.  But the first group winning in Girl Named Tom was probably their next best option.  Season twenty-two?  I don't think that they wanted Blake to win at all, but wanted to save it for his final season.  But after he won with Bryce, all bets were off.  Lastly, I picked season twenty-four, because I think that they wanted Reba to win her first season and didn't expect Ruby to tank in the Lives and Huntley to pick up steam there.  I'm fairly certain that they wanted Reba to win season twenty-five and either one of Michael or Snoop to win season twenty-six, so I didn't pick either of those.

Season 15 easily lmao. I mean Chevel got zero pimping all season, had a montaged battle (which to be fair no finalist had their battle aired in full), and the narrative was all about Jennifer through pimping the f*ck out of Kennedy. Only for her to need an IS to even get to the finale and ultimately finish in 4th despite closing the finale (which never happened to the IS winner before then).

I'd argue S11 and S22 as well for similar reasons, Sundance and Bryce had basically zero pimping.

i don’t think a single person on ariana’s team was given even a ghost of producer attention during the pre-live rounds aside from… what, bella getting her audition leaked? barely any leaks of note, next to no pimp slots, the fact that the auditions felt the need to emphasize ariana’s immaturity first and foremost?? there’s no world in which they were gonna push for an ariana win, especially with wendy and GNT in the mix

That’s because her team sucked. Hailey might have gotten some pimping had Ariana kept her.

I think they also tried with Holly but abandoned it when the pimp spot with a country song (I suspect) didn't do much for her

I would say:

S7: They want Taylor John in the finale for Gwen so they brought up the Wildcard twist, at the end it didn't work out and team Adam had 3 in the finale. Also they clearly wanted Matt to win, Craig basically got no support from them and had to perform early, then Matt flopped and Craig took home the win.

S13: they tried to get Noah Mac to the finale to have a 4-coach finale, then Noah sabotaged himself and voted for his 2 competitors. Nobody saw that coming at all.

S15: they pimped Kennedy a lot to make sure she wins. Turned out she couldn't even get a PV to the finale.

S22: I'm sure they didn't want that winner. It would be bodie who they wanted, they pimped him the whole time. Also I felt like they did set up for Aaron to win the IS, not expecting Brayden took a PV and the whole team John landed in the bottom.

S25: they tried to get Maddi Jane to the finale so all coaches get represented, then Bryan won the IS. Yuck.

It should be noted that they used to have the instant save performing order based on the coaches' chair order. Then they realized it made team Adam winning the IS all the time if he had someone in the bottom. They changed that from S15 onwards, with whoever they want to move on would have the pimp spot. Funny that prior to that change, Blake only won 1 instant save, and after the change was made Blake won almost all the instant save.

I think most of this is who they want to win and to avoid winning the season.

S2, im pretty sure they don't want Jermaine to win

S7, they want Matt to win obviously

These seasons they are desperate for an AA Female to win

S11 - Wé or Ali

S14 - Kyla

S15 - Kennedy

S17 - they want Katie to win, TCO of the season

S18 - same case, they want Thunderstorm to win, TCO of the season.

S21 - They want Wendy to win or any of Ariana's "weak" singers 🤣

S22 - for sure they don't want Bryce to win, either bodie (unique) or Morgan (TCO of the season) were their choices.

I will always say that Jake Hoot was the secret TCO. They intentionally gave terrible song choices to Katie in the last few rounds. I have this theory that they wanted to give Kelly a win after her team got wiped out in season 16.

I don't think they cared who won in season 2, 18, and 22. You can't convince me they were pushing hard for Thunderstorm when in reality they allowed Todd to keep singing minivan friendly songs and didn't try to bus him at all.
