The Voice Philippines (Any Version) Thoughts

Since apparently there are many filos here, I def want to share a lot of my thoughts with the show.

 

I didn't fully watch Season 1, but they were definitely still finding their feet. The set and sound production was terrible, but the talent seemed solid. Didn't fully watch everything, but it seems like many of the stars today originated from that show, even if they didn't make it too far.

 

Didn't fully watch season 2 as well, but there def seemed to be many solid performances. The Wannabe performance seemed pretty cool.

 

I do think the show started to probably peek with the Kid's seasons which is probably why they continued with that. Many of the stars now have also came from that season. I know many complained about the first winner, but she does randomly get viral every now and then lol. The second season was also interesting as this was the first and only one where a coach wasn't represented, and that happened to be the favorite coach with many fans, but she didn't necessarily pick the fan friendly ones in terms of voting

 

The first teens season was probably the one where I was most invested. Sure, I do think there were some iffy choices by some coaches, both within song choices and decisions, but overall it was a really solid season. They also had the 3-way knockouts here without any steals or saves so it was pretty much a bloodbath lol. 

 

The second teens seasons was def iffy. I don't think it had the strongest talent, but the ones that were left seemed pretty solid, but unfortunately this was the pandemic season, and covid was already around before the lock down stuff happened, and by the time of the knockouts, everyone seemed to be sick. Even one of the coaches was already sick. Then the finale was really disappointing. It was basically just a group performance with the coach, then all the coaches just graded them. Then they did this thing where they said the winners of each time were just the winners of the show. Everyone was a winner lol. They didn't even try to give them a solo performance. Not very exciting, but understandable given the circumstances.

 

The two last seasons of the voice within the original franchise was okay. They changed two of the coaches, but the original one still seemed to carry and there was still banter. Unfortunately, both seasons seemed to have problems with song selections and it was very limited. I liked tbe talent but it didn't seem as solid as past seasons, but might keep a lookout on some of them.

 

Well, the current one, with the GMA format, is a different world to the abscbn one. Completely different choices and editing styles. It all comes very flat. The banter just isn't as strong, and at times feels unnatural. Host is very awkward and so much dead air. While rhey might have a wider song selection range, the problem with them is that majority of them oversing to the max and it is just so annoying. Overall, while the show has potential, it just comes across as flat. They need an entirely new production to fix the mess. Even at this point, some of the comment section now is all about how good the coach is, and not even talking about the contestants lol. And that went for both versions lol.

The Voice Teens S1 was good, Christy vs Mica is an ICONIC battle even if Mica kinda messed up her English part of the song. 

 

S2 was ruined by the pandemic. Heart was robbed of being the sole winner.

To be fair tho, I don't think Heart still would have won with the Team Sarah fans. I remember the guy balladeer seemed to have a lot of fans. And I feel like if it were pure votes in the semi-finals, I think Kate seemed to have more fans as well. But Bamboo probably would have pushed Heart tho with his scores.

 

I wonder where she is now tho.

For the Regular, S1

I think Mitoy deserved it but my favorite is Thor of Team apl.

I liked Morissette after the show. 

 

For S2, 

I kinda don't like Jason Dy winning, I prefer Alisah winning back then . Also I was rooting for Tanya Diaz of Team Bamboo back then.

For the Teens

S1 -  Mica is so good, I prefer Nisha and Emarjhun for their respective teams to be in the Finale. The winner kinda stepped up in the Finale but not my cup of tea.

S2 - I really liked Heart a lot, she could've won alone if only not for the covid.

S3 - didn't watch

 

For the Kids

S1 - Darren deserve it more the winner. I liked Juan Karlos post show.

S2 - Elha, the winner deserved it. This season is so funny, the winning coach of S1 didn't have a finalist this season. I was rooting or Sassa, her BA, Chandelier is so phenomenal back then, same team as the winner.

S3 - Don't like the winner here, Antonette and Justin deserves it more. I was rooting for Justin here because he's from our city. His cover of 7 Years was so good.

S4 - I really like the winner here Vanjoss, deserved it, his BA is one of the best.

S5 - onwards, didn't watch

I've never watched the show, but I remember when Kokoi Baldo's audition was circling everywhere in singing competition compilations, and to be fair it's one of the best reggae performances I've heard on any TV version.

 

Also wild that Morissette Amon was on the show.. I consider her one of the best singers right now, but i didn't know she was on the voice till a few months ago and tbh I didn't come away too impressed with performances (relatively speaking) even though the vocal talent was clearly there.

 

I know she was only 17, but other Filipina teen powerhouses like Kaylee Shinizu and Jessica Sanchez impressed me more at the same age. Ofc, it was 11 years ago, and it speaks to how much she's improved since then (especially since now, Morissette>>Jessica)

 

 I'm curious though, what y'all would consider the best performances on the show?

Not The Voice but this performance from Idol Philippines really stuck out to me at the time. Elle was such a unique singer and this performance showcased everything that made her great. The spoken word part

as for the winner of that season, Zephanie, this performance was probably her best. Maybe I’m biased because I like the song, but her range, emotion,!and vocal clarity were all on-point. oh and she was 16 years old.
