I honestly don't care about their originals, more than 10 seasons means we have more than 40 original songs exported from the show and the only memorable one was 'Wasted Love" by Matt McAndrew. So I'll go with the current format of 1 uptempo, 1 ballad and 1 duet. It makes everyone have a legit chance at winning.

The only thing I want is to have the coach duet back on Monday, so the finalists can bring back eliminated artists for one more group performance. COVID has costed us finalist's celebrity duet and group performance.

And the eliminated contestants performing in groups too... Miss that.

I still listen to "Deja Vu" by Lauren Duski regularly. That song is exquisitely beautiful and memorable. (For the record, I voted for Chris Blue and was stoked that he won, but Lauren Duski's original song was one of the best the show ever produced; there were others I liked too, including "Wasted Love" - but "Deja Vu" was my personal favorite.)

But I agree that I really miss the eliminated artist performances! Those were some of my favorites, like one last hurrah for a lot of my favorites (especially when they got to sing with artists they looked up to, like Vanessa Ferguson singing with Gladys Knight). I also loved those because eliminated contestants often sounded way steadier and less nervous during those performances (I guess because they weren't vying for votes, they were just doing it for the love of the music).

4 finalists, 1 solo + 1 original + 1 duet

But I wouldn’t mind 2 solos + 1 duet, just drop the whole uptempo/ballad BS.

I agree, I don't like the uptempo/ballad format. And to be completely honest, I did not understand the "uptempo/ballad" distinction at all.

Serious question - in what world was Danny Joseph's "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma" a ballad? Or Sofronio's "Unstoppable?"

Gonna be honest, most of the original songs sucked. Almost none of the contestants had a hand in writing them (I think Britton Buchanan and Red Marlow did co-write theirs though, not sure if more). But yeah, no bueno.

I like the uptempo/ballad format. It could result in chaos, but it can yield good results too. Plus, it actually challenges the finalists.

It's not. I think they put it in the wrong category on Wikipedia for Danny, Sofronio and Jeremy.

Oh yeah, I see that now. Whoever filled Wikipedia for finale night put "Dancing on My Own" as Jeremy's upbeat song, so yeah, I think it's just a case of them putting things in the wrong columns. Sorry about that 😅

Well it's very easy to get confused lol before it used to be:

ballad=that package when they read the diary

uptempo=that package when they talk with Carson

The originals were almost all forgettable with a few exceptions.

I agree that the "Upbeat + Ballad" thing challenges them and that is good even if leads to some messy performances.

Forgot to ask another question. Do y'all prefer 3, 4 or 5 finalists?

4.

3 finalists ensure one coach sit out which is sad to watch. 5 finalists move the coach duet to result night and take away their chance to sing with a celebrity singer.

You can still add the question to the poll, i think.

It might be too late for those who already voted.

Btw I'm not greedy for reputation points so for those who already voted before I added the other question, react with sad if you prefer 4 finalists and react with confused if you prefer 5, and reply if you  prefer 3

Oh right I forgot Lauren Duski's Deja Vu, love that song too.

Wasted Love, Deja Vu, Walk My Way are only good originals that the show produces in my opinion. May count "Stitch by Stitch" by Javier Colon from S1 too. Sometimes it's hurtful to hear those "originals", like the time Kyla Jade, who just screamed and belted at full power, had to go through a Garth Brooks rejected song.

Wish I Didn't Love You by Chloe should be considered too. Beautiful song, her live performance was a bit rough for her vocal cords but I still liked it. Btw someone else even covered that song in Comeback Stage and I was surprised.

I just went through all the original songs, and I realized you're right; I only regularly listen to, like, 3 of them (Deja Vu, Wasted Love, and "Velvet" by Chris Jamison - seriously, that song has an INCREDIBLE bass line and the coolest vibe overall). I occasionally listen to a few others. And I haven't heard 90% of them in years lol.

For the most part, thinking back on it, I recall that a lot of original songs were their artists' worst and dullest performances (including Chris Blue, Rose Short, Chevel Shepherd, Craig Wayne Boyd, and the infamous Garth Brooks reject they foisted onto Kyla Jade - and those are all GOAT contestants IMO, but sheesh, their original songs left a lot to be desired).

I understand why they went with 5 finalists to get more diverse representation in the late Blake seasons, but if Minivan could vote better I would ideally prefer 4 finalists, good in between number imo that would be realistic for the show and also gives every coach a chance to be represented
