Who would you have advanced based on their IS performance alone?

 

And who would you have picked based on overall run?

 

And 3rd question is who ultimately would have been your pick in the end. Which seems redundant given the 2nd question, but I'm assuming some people value latest performance over overall run.

I just kinda adored Christina Eagle, and I can't really explain why. I'd have picked her based on her overall run (and I voted for her in the Instant Save). Ever since her Blind Audition (which was one of my favorites of the whole season), I found her trajectory super exciting to watch. She had amazing stage presence, incredible attitude in every song, embodied every song she performed, and I looked eagerly forward to all her performances. I really wish she'd made it to the finale; I think it would have been interesting to see her tackle 3 songs with some variety. I've seen some of her ballads on Instagram; she has an incredible voice, and I wish she'd had time to show that side of herself.

 

I've never been HUGE on country music, but I thought this season had some strong country representation, so I'm shocked that in a season when the rep was pretty strong, absolutely none of it made it to the finale. Ah, well. I imagine a longer season with a more traditional live show format would have done her more favors.

 

But based on Semifinals night as a whole (combining the main performances AND Instant Saves), and not considering overall run...

  • I kinda have to concede that Danny Joseph earned his spot. He stepped up on both nights. I admittedly wasn't a huge fan of his rendition of "House of the Rising Sun," but it was vocally impressive, and no more than halfway into his performance, I knew he'd made it through.
  • And Jan Dan had the best Instant Save performance in my opinion. It was nearly pitch perfect and embodied everything Gwen has said about how artistic he is, how smart and artistic his note choices are, etc. I actually think it's kinda tragic that (at least IMO) he gave his season best performance at literally the last minute. I really didn't care for his run as a whole and never considered for his IS performance, even if I thought it was the best. (I also think Christina had the 2nd best IS performance.)

I’m not mad that Danny advanced tbh

 

Also unpop but I honestly didn’t think Christina’s IS was all that much better than her T8 performance…

Better song choice for sure but the vocals were still messy (at least Danny had some redeeming parts)

It definitely wasn’t. She can’t sing on pitch, and the coaches knew it. She also loses control whenever she goes for the higher notes. Those are probably the reasons she barely got 1 chair to turn. But, this is reality TV and Snoop needed some contenders, so they did what they had to do in the autotuned rounds, probably hoping for a growth arc that never materialized.

I'd volunteer but I get bored thinking about it too long. I barely finished this post 😴 🤷‍♂️

If we analize the second question: 

 

Christina was good on pre-lives but then she crashed and burned on her first live performance. And her duet, and her IS....

 

Jan Dan was boring on pre-lives (close to mediocre), except for his Playoffs performance where José Luis was better than him.. 

 

Adam had an awful audition, then he improved even if i'll never understand what Reba saw on him. But his IS performances was awful. 

 

Danny had a good audition, a great battle, a solid knockout (even if 19%), a good playoff and honestly his semifinal's performance sounded fine to me. He only flopped on his IS, and maybe his duet.

 

Honestly i would rather take Danny over any of the other three.

Notice they went from pimping Christina every round to dropping her for Snoop’s KO save. They says a lot right there. Snoop tried really hard for a Mikaela growth arc too. He had this idea that she should be a powerhouse.  Why is that?

I definitely would have picked either Jan Dan or Adam. Danny would have been my third option to be honest. 

 

I have enjoyed all of Jan Dan and Adam's performances.
