Song suggestions for Finalists (Upbeat, Ballad, and optionally Duet if possible) - S26

I need either Sof or Jeremy to perform "Both Sides, Now" for their ballad—I feel like it's gonna be a good finale moment for either, while "Fast Car" for Shye's upbeat—I feel like that's the kind of upbeat that fits her vibe best

Hmmm, I was listening to Cat Burns' cover of Teenage Dirtbag and it kinda fits Shye for her upbeat...but "Fast Car" is a much more minivan friendly song choice...I can also Sydney doing "Teenage Dirtbag" tho

Shye

- One of the most beautiful tones to have ever graced this show. She has a natural dramaticness to her voice and I think she'll need to bank on that in order to win. Could definitely use a pimp spot too.

Ballad: Breathe (2 AM) [Anna Nalick], You Lost Me (Xtina), Strong (London Grammar), She Used To Be Mine (Sara Bareilles), Starring Role (MARINA), Cedar Lane (First Aid Kit), Maps or Lost Without You (Freya Ridings), You Ruin Me (The Veronicas)

Upbeat: Plastic Hearts (Miley Cyrus), Devil Side (FOXES), Crying For No Reason (Katy B.),

Jeremy Beloate

- Much like Shye, I think what Jeremy needs is something that will feel similar to Impossible Dream, so I also tried to pick powerful songs that could help recreating the magic of that performance and give him a new moment.

Ballad: Born to Die/Young and Beautiful (Lana Del Rey), Defying Gravity, Autumn (Paolo Nutini), Guns For Hire (Woodkid), I Found (Amber Run), All My Friends (Dermot Kennedy), Bitter Sweet Symphony (The Verve), A Bad Dream (Keane)

Upbeat: Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush), Stargazing (Kygo), Runnin' (Losing It All) [Beyoncé], Happiness (NEEDOTBREATHE), Half Light (BANNERS)

My upbeat suggestions sucked, but overall, I just want any of them to do something that hasn't been done on this show. They know it isn't gonna make or break their careers, might as well go down with a rendition that will be eternized in singing shows history.

Very insightful! Do you have any recs for Sofronio, Sydney, or Danny tho?

Hard choices with such a short run, but some good suggestions here. Just a comment about Shye and an actual suggestion for Jeremy.

Having taken a big step forward, I'd hate to see Shye slip back to light pop like Story of My Life. But song choice can be random so I don't have good guesses. Maybe look at Eva Cassidy's covers - two of her best have been done (Fields of Gold and Wonderful World) but there are lots of others. While the voices are different, Eva's covers had some scope and freedom in adaptation that might be a good jumping off place for Shye. Here's one top 10 list. https://www.classicrockhistory.com/top-10-eva-cassidy-songs/

For Jeremy, You'll Never Walk Alone.  It shares a vibe (to me) with Impossible Dream and he'd do well to revisit that. Fwiw it's Liverpool's home song in the PL. lol

You Lost Me (Xtina)

She should definitely do this, I don't think there's been any version yet on the show and she can do it justice

I'm not confident I have good ideas for them, but some I'd like to see:

Sydney

Ballad: Home or The Power of Love (Gabrielle Aplin), Come Home To Me (LÉON), My Blood (Ellie Goulding), The Lamppost (Abi Carter)

Upbeat: Strangers (Sigrid), Fallingwater (Maggie Rogers)

Sofronio (I really don't know here)

Ballad: Helium (Sia), Take Me Home (Jess Glynne), Flashlight (Jessie J)

Upbeat: I have no idea

Danny

Ballad: Leave a Light On (Tom Walker), Only a Human (George Ezra), Little Black Submarine (The Black Keys), Sam's Town (The Killers)

Upbeat: Cold Little Heart (Michael Kiwanuka), The Wolf (Mumford & Sons), Sorry (Nothing But Thieves)

Shye

Ballad: Gone (Lianne La Havas)

Uptempo: Chasing Pavements (Adele)

Danny

Ballad: Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)

Uptempo: Dazed And Confused (Led Zepplin)

Sofronio

Ballad: Jealous (Labrinth)

Uptempo: Locked Out Of Heaven (Bruno Mars)

Sydney

Ballad: Flags (Brooke Fraser)

Uptempo: Thank You (Dido)

Jeremy

Ballad: Grow As We Go (Ben Platt)

Uptempo: I'm Still Standing (Elton John)

Shye

Ballad: Take Me to Church or Stay by Rihanna. I know they're overdone but I can't think of better songs for her voice. She would absolutely kill Ice Cream Man by Raye but I don't think it would connect with the audience

Uptempo: Pink Pony Club or Put Your Records On

Jeremy

Ballad: Defying Gravity. I think this will secure him second place. My dream song for him is Honest Man by Ben Platt but again I think that's too niche for the audience

Uptempo: Adore You by Harry Styles

Danny

Ballad: Simple Man

Uptempo: Whipping Post or that "I Feel Good" song

Sydney

Ballad: Ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine (I think this counts?)

Uptempo: That's So True by Gracie Abrams or You're So Vain

Sofronio

I think he will win even if he sings the Skibidi toilet theme. But anyway...

Ballad: I Can't Make You Love Me or Somebody To Love by Queen

Uptempo: 24 Karat Magic. I feel like he's a good dancer

Michael would give it to him lmao, and Sofronio would think it could be fun/good like karaoke night in the Philippines.
