Talking about song choices...

 

Aliyah in playoffs received I have nothing and now Jeremy I who have nothing. Are TPTB implying team Snoop will have nothing in the finale?

 

And what about Reba giving Chris Stapleton to Adam in Playoffs and now to Danny? Is she trying to countrifying them?

Honest question - do we think Shye did enough to win PV tonight?

 

I'm actually leaning towards "No," and not because I don't like Shye. I love Shye; her song choices were my only barrier to liking her more because she has an excellent voice. But she FINALLY found a song choice that highlighted just how special she has always been, and I think she was the best of the entire night!

 

BUT... I don't really think it matters how well someone performs in a high-stakes, heavy-elimination round if they don't have a built-in fanbase with the show's general audience.

 

As much as I love and defend Christina, I wouldn't rank her in my personal Semifinals Top 4. But looking at social media numbers (which I will not spoil here), it looks like Christina may be a lock for popular vote into the finale. In fact, just by social media numbers, my three assured locks, IMO, would be Christina, Sofronio, and Sydney, while I'm iffy on the 4th PV (possibly Jeremy, IDK). I just don't see it being Shye. At best, Shye is fighting for an Instant Save IMO.

Edit: I read the rest of your post, my answer is still "Yes". I don't think building a fanbase matter that much when none of the contestants are really that memorable to beggin with

I get this concern. I don't think many folks have much of a fanbase in such a short season, but Shye hadn't really risen to her potential till last night.  If that were top 12, she should be in great shape. As a semifinals performance, it risks not being enough for the demo. Also I love Brandi and have gone to see her a couple of times, but I do wonder how well the demo knows the song. If it doesn't, then Shye has to carry them with the performance. Fingers definitely crossed for her.
