How far do you think Alexa Wildish would have made if she was chosen in Niall's top 3 instead

Imagine a world where Alexa was actually chosen for the PO, how far do you think Alexa would have made? Suppose that she still maintains the consistencies.

Ideally: Second with Nini first

so the short answer is i think she would've at least cracked semifinals. having said that, i'm going to overthink this anyway because i've got nothing better to do rn  

 

first off, i bet that if there were any world where she advanced, she would've taken mara's spot – huntley and nini were niall's ride-or-dies at this point, and i think that last spot came down to whether niall would take the risk of bringing a KO steal to the voting rounds. she might've also been picked over nini based off of the quality of the playoffs themselves – i don't think it's controversial to rank nini's playoff as a lower point in her run, whereas alexa was delivering banger after banger for four rounds straight without breaking a sweat – but i'm gonna frame this situation assuming niall stuck to his guns and 

 

so let's say she took mara's (or maybe even nini's?) spot and made it to the semifinals – which, let's be real, niall probably would've had to give her a disaster song choice at the "thnks fr th mmrs" level in order for her to be at risk in the long run. yes, it's safe to assume she was a shoe-in to at least crack the semifinals thanks to gwen's frankly terrible live show outing this season, but, beyond that, i think she could've been finalist number five, but it would've been close. she embodied something folksy and beautiful that the audiences tend to gravitate towards (see: maelyn, girl named tom, lila), and niall's momentum this season was absolutely unreal, but she would've also been fighting with lila herself to occupy that niche – lila, who the producers pushed hard to crack the finale (if only to mitigate the possibility of a finale composed only of niall and reba's team members) from the playoffs onwards.

 

it would've been a possibility, but it might have been close. assuming alexa neither bombs nor delivers a moment on the same level as "believe", i think the top 4 of the semis would've ended up being huntley, ruby, ONE OF alexa and lila, and jacquie, with the other folksy storyteller girl vying for spot #5 – from there, she'd probably be fighting nini and/or mac for spot #5. on the other hand, if alexa took the place of nini in niall's voting rounds team, alexa would've been absolutely cooked unless she had a moment of resonance with the voting audience, because she would've been in the exact same place nini was from a popularity/trajectory standpoint, which was playing third fiddle to two artists that were just straight up getting more votes. maybe alexa would've had more of a shot in the instant save, but jacquie would've always been a hard act to beat that night. 

 

obviously there are SO many things that could've happened to shift this trajectory. alexa could've bombed once the live shows started or she could've continued to soar the way she had leading up to the voting rounds, if not fly higher. maybe alexa would've overshadowed lila in the vote and the producers would've pushed for mac to crack the finale instead, or maybe they'd push harder for lila. who knows! this is just a thought
