Who won the battle: Gina vs Kala.

Let's decide this for once and all.

 

Here is the battle. Rewatch it before voting, please 

 

I won't make the poll public, but don't vote just because and don't troll. I'm interested in knowing IDF's genuine consensus about this one.

It’s a tie for me. The problem I have with this battle is they sound like the same singer. It’s just not that interesting.

First of all, are you kidding me with this poll, lmao? What am I supposed to do? /jk

 

Second of all, both of them are pretty even and that battle is truly an all-timer. Gina had a rich tone that shone throughout the performance but Kala's emotional delivery and different varieties of her voice sealed the deal for me. Also I thought Gina had a little bit iffy part while Kala had none. So yeah, Kala for me, her tone is more for me as well.

Idk, I liked it but wouldn't consider it an all timer. Thought Anti Hero from that season was better off the top of my head. Maybe it's the song choice? Too cookie cutter indie girl for me.

Yeah I agree with that. It was nice but nothing exceptional.

Gina for me

 

Kala was nearly neck & neck with her, but then when the second half happened Gina just took over for me. Her belts here were especially clean and powerful

I voted for Gina. I think Kala had the cleaner vocal but Gina has the more distinct tone and as @nytsch said, expressiveness to her voice.

 

Overall though I think the battle is good but not great. It could be a me-problem though as I love the original so much that the versions which focus on being "pretty" don't connect to me as much.

So you pretty much liked the original Bon Iver's version then. I remembered Jordy Searcy from s7 covering it in its original form and it was a ridiculous 3-CHAIR MONTAGE.

It kinda irks me that males never cover that song on the show. I could see someone like the guy who won the most recent season of The Voice AU doing an interesting version of it.

A country/folk-rock guy covering it wouldn't be out of the questions. The important thing is to really connect with the song like Bon Iver did.
