Gustavo527
José Luis took it for me, easily. He is a master at emotionally connecting with the songs he sings. However, i'm impressed by the control Austin has over his voice, especially his falsetto. I think he is technically a slighly better singer than José Luis. I still liked José Luis more, tho.
Misirlou
I´m honestly not a big fan of Jose Luis´s tone, but there´s no denying he can sing. Him and Austyns were dead even, and I understand picking either. But I find Austyn´s tone to be richer and deeper, which I like, so I preferred him in the battle.
TeamAudra
Austyns for both. Tone preference.
nytsch
Both did great, but my choice would definitely be Jose, his tone is so clear and so powerful I think from what little we've seen, Austyns can probably hit more notes (and his falsetto was impressive in the battle for sure) but for me that's not the only thing being a better vocalist is about so idk? Like it's also about how you use your voice so on that basis I connected with Jose more so I picked him
FloorWax
For this particular battle, I would give the slight edge to Jose Luis because of the parts where he was using his upper register as well as the emotion he displayed. But overall, I think Austyns is the more well-rounded and versatile vocalist. I was pleasantly surprised by the runs he was doing in his low/mid range during the bridge. And obviously he has insane control of his head voice. Edited October 26 by FloorWax
QueenCami
Jose b/c of the emotion and because I'm a massive high belt fan. Jose b/c I prefer high belts to falsettos, but Austyns is INSANE and so smooth with his falsetto.
allistr
Jose because he actually connected to the song better, which I'm actually looking for. But I'll also give props to Austin because he has a well-rounded voice with exceptionally insane, smooth-as-butter falsettos. Dude is a helluva vocalist. Someone648
Love both, no complaints. No crumbs left. Preferred Austyns by a hair.
Hsamid
Depends on how much Austyns ends up using it in performances, I think he used it sparingly and in the right moments this battle But I wonder how long it will take for people to tire of Austyn's head voice like what happened with Terrence, or if it ever happens. As for this battle, austyns has a slightly more dynamic voice with the contrast of his rich mid/low register and soaring head voice, but i preferred Jose for the reasons other users stated. Also, it gets a bit overshadowed by his tone and belting range, but Jose's runs in this battle surprised me, they were really well placed and executed.
