*Wallace
I'm still not really sure how to rank most of the dances from tonight but still thinking like this at the moment... 1. Chandler & Brandon - Paso Doble 2. Joey & Jenna - Samba 3. Danny & Witney - Jazz 4. Jenn & Sasha - Rumba 5. Ilona & Alan - Jazz 6. Stephen & Rylee - Charleston 7. Phaedra & Val - Jazz 8. Dwight & Daniella - Tango
*Wallace
3 minutes ago, m1key said: also, i hate how season after season, certain pros see Jazz as an opportunity to make a freestyle-esque dance with a bunch of lifts. Jazz is actually an extremely technical style of dance and i feel like that is rarely highlighted on the show (or ever commented on by the judges). the style does have plenty of freedoms of course, but i think a show that is about learning new styles of dance should encourage at least inclusion of the basics. You bring up some very good points here. Although I feel like the actual Jazz routines get panned/harshly reviewed on the show, i.e. Jason & Daniella's Jazz was a legit Jazz routine but it wasn't well received.
Luke Kryszewski
In my opinion This would be my ranking 1. Chandler 2. Joey 3. Jenn 4. Ilona 5. Danny 6. Stephen 7. Phaedra 8. Dwight so for the most part me and your rankings match Wallace!
Alex95
This is shaping up to be the worst season since 29. The competent Bachelor Nation star takes the win and we all forget about 90% of the season within 48 hours of it ending.

Her age has nothing to do with it. If we want to talk about age ; Julianne Hough was 19 & 20, respectively, when she won the mirrorball back to back & choreographing great routines for her dance partners. VintageVoice
Thoughts: If Rylee dialed back the choreo’s content a bit to give Stephen more time to focus on the steps, I think they might have less issues with getting ahead of the music; he also got the least ahead of the music that he’s been all season with the foxtrot, which is the only slow-ish not-stunt-filled dance style they’ve gotten so far. Hopefully they get a slower style next week & ease up on the need to cram “ALL THE CONTENT ALL THE TIME” into their allotted time on the dance floor. The fastest way to sour genuinely decent chemistry is for producers to stick their grubby hands in where they don’t belong. We already had a showmance, we don’t need a second one immediately following the elimination of the first one. Sambas are tricky & I wanted a samba roll in the mix, but Joey did really well with the content (and though I think a 25/30 was fair I wouldn’t have been mad if they’d gotten a second 9, tbh). Whatever worked to get Brandon back to the level of his cha-cha choreo for Chandler for their paso doble is something I hope he keeps going. Costumes, beautiful costumes…and that’s all I’m gonna say on Phaedra’s jazz routine. Speaking of jazz routines, I haaaaaaaaate when the producers give them back-to-back with contemporary dances; the content itself wasn’t bad, but it was a bit lift-heavy even with the context of it being inspired by Deadpool & Wolverine fighting. Keeping Dwight around just because the audience wants more Daniella Halloween choreo…choices. The donkey mask is some “thanks, I hate it” nightmare fuel. totes4totes
lol the fact that Stephen can’t get 9s and Chandler can’t get 10s at this point in the competition is such a bad look on Rylee and Brandon. When you look at pros like Witney and Jenna and how much they elevate their respective partners with their choreo and content (and Val, and Daniella, etc) it just becomes obvious how much weaker as pros Rylee/Brandon/Sasha etc are.

To add on to this. Just a small sampling but like, typically the “best” dancers start getting their first 10s in week 5. Even in season 29, Skai got the first 10 in week 4 and Johnny got his first in week 5 (Nev got the first 30 week 6). You have to go back to season 28 where no dancer is as strong as Chandler to get a season where the first 10s were given out later than week 5. I think one thing I disagree with is that a dance to a song from a franchise Chandler stars in would have been a perfectly 10-worthy moment. In fact it was her song they danced to from specifically the movie she starred in from Disney.
totes4totes
anyway, i watched all these on the trolley so a quick ranking: 1. chandler/brandon - she's carrying this partnership. he's actively not improving her. that's going to hurt her in the end and i think that's why it's been so hard for her to get a 10. we've talked about this over and over. 2. joey/jenna - again just an example of jenna being VERY good at choreography. she hides a lot of joey's flaws and accentuates what he's very good at. 3. jenn/sasha - i can just put for jenn what i put for chandler. sasha's very MEH choreography is going to hold jenn back this competition 4. ilona/alan - i like alan just fine but i was underwhelmed by the choreo. i just like ilona a lot. 5. phaedra/val - i think val is just the male choreographer that the men should be trying to emulate. phaedra and val probably hated each other and yet his choreography was still inspired for phaedra. 6. danny/witney - sure whatever. 7. stephen/rylee - you can tell that rylee is not a good teacher. that probably will come with being a pro longer. idk. stephen hasn't really improved since week 1 and that's on her. 8. dwight/daniella - i don't really need to say what's been said. team dances - both were pretty MEH to me. ilona lifting jenna >>>> dwight lifting stephen
