I’m actually not that hard to please. As long as they sing on pitch, enunciate properly, and have a pleasant tone, I’m usually fine.

I know I'm ragging on Michael, but he is just not good at this...this is his second battle we've seen and it's as bad as the first (at least based on the rehearsal.) It's like the guy doesn't know a thing about coaching these artists, and the song choice couldn't be more wrong for Mark.

His own damn fault.  He chose to turn for only one crooner.  If he'd lowered his own standards and turned for more of them, then maybe he'd have a better opponent for Edward and a better fit for the song.

So that explains why you liked Hailey Mia, cause I get that too. I put tones over everything else, and I also want mature voices. My other criteria for me is no oversinging.

She still had some issues, but I’ll give someone that age a pass on some things if they can sing on pitch and have a good tone. I did not like her Idol run at all, however.
