Week 6:

1. Ilona & Alan (=) - She's pretty much the only one really keeping me invested this season. I'm excited for what she's gonna do each week and she keeps me on my toes.

2. Chandler & Brandon (=) - Please win.

3. Phaedra & Val (+1) - After Traitors I expected Phaedra to really be stealing the show. She didn't quite do that, but she was still fun to watch and she had her moments!

4. Danny & Witney (+4) - That butt really was out of this world and no one else gave me a reason to rank them above him so congrats Danny and your butt.

5. Joey & Jenna (+1) - They're just really safe I think. I'm not excited when they come out to dance. I want some danger! Like, he's a good dancer, but he's not excellent. He's got a fun personality, but he's not stealing the show. He's hot, but he's got not like sexy. He's just checking off all the boxes. And it hit me. He's just an overhyped Bachelorette woman, but he's a man this time around. I'm used to the men sucking. But this time he's just Kaitlyn or Hannah. And he'll win like them, in join them in their coven of the most forgettable winners.

6. Stephen & Rylee (-1) - Is the pre-season frontrunner fan favorite gymnast gonna miss the finals? Do we have a female Sasha Farber in our midst?

7. Jenn & Sasha (=) - The new faux showmance storyline. I'm not gagging.

8. Dwight & Daniella (+1) - F*ck off.

  1. Chandler & Brandon: I think the song choice made sense, given it was her movie, and the choreo was both fun and well-executed. (+2)
  2. Joey & Jenna: Give 👏 me👏 my 👏 sam 👏 ba 👏 rolls 👏 - and give Joey a better wig while we're at it. That butt drum move may live rent free in my brain for a while, tbh. (=)
  3. Jenn & Sasha: Good upper body movements, but a bit choppy on the choreography front overall. (+3)
  4. Danny & Witney: he can lift, but can he dance? Guess we'll find out next week now that the diet-freestyle choreography options are off the table. (=)
  5. Ilona & Alan: honestly, I liked this more than Danny & Witney's routine, but Alan's nightmare-fuel donkey costume tanked it for me. (-4)
  6. Stephen & Rylee: cute with infectious energy, but he really needs a slower dance style next week so he can work on his musicality. (-1)
  7. Dwight & Daniella: I'd have been fine with them leaving, but at least he moved around for more than half of the routine. (+1)
  8. Phaedra & Val: not the show getting rid of their on-call mortician the week before Halloween, flop move tbh (-1)

1. Chandler & Brandon - tw// thinkpiece incoming! once again, Chandler's the best one here. but the more i reflect on it, the more i realize the producers are not doing a great job at editing her. i feel like all of the other contestants have a "niche" or arc at this point, except her. Ilona is getting the emotional journey edit about what it means to be a dancer with an unconventional body type. Stephen & Rylee are the smiley, bubbly Gen Z pairing. Jenn has the showmance edit. Dwight and Danny have the shock value arc: Dwight with his height, and Danny with his “shocking” ability to perform despite his deadpan personality. Joey is the charming bachelor all the women are meant to gravitate towards. What is Chandler’s arc? TPTB are trying to manufacture the "bouncing back from the criticism you get because you are so perfect" arc, but that is just not going to cut it on this season. the only reason it worked with Charli is because her and Mark had the shared storyline of "falling back in love with dance", and i also think viewers appreciated how the juxtaposition of Charli being very polite/soft spoken/mature despite the fact that she is the face of obnoxious Gen Z TikTok influencers. i just hate to process that she is highkey being set up for failure because the show continuously does not know how to edit Black women who don't have the (harmful) stereotypical "sassy" or "dramatic" personality. i felt this exact way about Charity last season too. 

2. Joey & Jenna - i think he’s secured the win at this point and he’s proven that he’s capable and consistent. at this point i just want to see Jenna throw a lot of fun choreo at him and experiment.

3. Ilona & Alan - definitely the most interesting and exciting contestant this season! i just don't always love Alan's choreo for her. 

4. Stephen & Rylee - my take is that Rylee’s choreography has been great this season! Stephen is just… not at the level to execute it, which makes them both look bad. she needs to choreograph to his strengths more, because the other remaining female pros (Jenna, Daniella, Witney) are all GREAT at it for their partners.

5. Jenn & Sasha - she isn’t a particularly interesting personality imo, and the fact that her edit is now becoming consumed by the potential “showmance” with Sasha makes it even worse. i don’t find any entertainment or re-watch value in their dances.

6. Danny & Witney - i was starting to root for them, but his run is now becoming the *definition* of the privilege that comes with simply being an attractive, white male celeb on this show. i’ll enjoy him more if he can prove to me he can dance a style that showcases his rhythmic abilities more like Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, etc.

7. Phaedra & Val - sad to say i am disappointed with her run tbh.

8. Dwight & Daniella - worried that the contemporary this week is going to extend his longevity in the competition. though i generally think the fandom is on the same page about him being the worst one remaining?
