They could've easily made another video with a dozen people dancing in a line, but in a refreshing departure, it is a house party with a hundred different things happening, and there is never a dull moment. This video loses points for its lack of the Wow factor that is present in most of Lady Gaga's videos.

DEREK

Quote

It’s cute. It’s a fascinating cultural snapshot more than it is a good music video. She does an okay job introducing herself to the world with this, there are some hints of her unique style/vibe POV and there is some choreo but a lot just skews trashy party-girl. Kesha will come later to take over that niche while Gaga will move on to different strengths. Can we talk about how random Colby is in this video and in this era. Kardinal version outsold I fear.

WALLY

Quote

I do love "Just Dance" and it's still up there as amongst one of my favorite Lady Gaga songs, but I do think this is kind of a basic video. That's understandable as this was her first (or one of her first?) music videos before she beame a super star, so the budget would be reallly low here. :haha:  It's a fun house party video but not one of her very memorable videos. I could have been fine without this being here.

CHRIS

Quote

"Just Dance" is undeniably a product of its time. It doesn’t have the timeless quality we’ve come to expect from Lady Gaga, especially compared to her later, more conceptual work. While the song itself is a pop anthem, the video feels one-note, almost like it was shot in one continuous take without much thought to pushing boundaries. There’s no real storyline or evolution, and the visuals don’t quite match the energy of the track. Although it helped establish Gaga's early image, it lacks the groundbreaking elements of her future videos. Personally, I wouldn’t have placed it in the Top 15.

TOM

Quote

It doesn't do it for me like most of the other Gaga videos; just some randos having fun dancing to the song at a party. She would go on to do much more creative ones.

The dancing may have been cheesy, but the direction of it was really good. Each cast member had their own unique look, and I love the way they all had their moments entering and leaving the screen as Lady Gaga saved the day with her dance moves.

WALLY

Quote

Of the Chromatica, I don't really agree with "Stupid Love" making it through over "Rain On Me" but oh well. This is a really cute and fun video.  The dancing is great and a lot of fun to watch. I never really thought of it as one of my favorite videos from Gaga but rewatching it, I feel I do have a little more of an appreciation of it and like it more than I remembered.

CHRIS

Quote

While I’m not the biggest fan of the “Stupid Love”  music video, I might be in the minority who prefers it over “Rain on Me”. This video feels very quintessential Lady Gaga, offering the perfect visual introduction to Chromatica with its bold fashion and vibrant aesthetic. While the video might not perfectly align with the song itself, it’s still solid - just not one of her best.

DEREK

Quote

Isn’t this the one that was shot on an iphone or something? It gets a little monotonous with the setting and the limited outfits in the same color palette.

ERIK

Quote

It's fine but I've never had an urge to rewatch this.

SOLA

All of Lady Gaga's videos are great but this one just felt been there, done that.

I don’t think this is her strongest song but this is when she starts to really thrive in the videos. The outfits, the lighting, the choreo, and she is starting to really come alive and command attention from the camera. Moving her branding from trashy party-girl to queen of the club, nightlife commander.

WALLY

Quote

This is a fun and hot video from Lady Gaga.  This is one of those videos where I don't really know where it ranks for me. However it did end up much higher than I expected. :haha: I still really like it a lot. It's fun and I do love the song (which I feel is kinda underrated on here as far as her first era songs go).

CHRIS

Quote

Visually, "LoveGame" is definitely more eye-catching than both "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" for that point in her career. The iconic body glitter look stands out, and the choreography feels a bit more thought out compared to the other two. However, even with these elements, the video doesn’t quite leave the same impact as her later works. It's solid, but in the grand scheme of Gaga’s repertoire, it doesn’t hit as hard or leave the lasting impression we’ve come to expect from her.

COREY

Quote

I like that the scenes follow her through the subway to a new location. At least there is progression. But other than that,  it's just dancing, and even that is average for Lady Gaga.

DIANA

Quote

Nothing against it really just sort of meh compared to the other's in listed to me and not one I would prefer.

Aww I wish "LoveGame" would have done better. But other than that, no real complaints. I maybe should have ranked "Stupid Love" lower but eh this was so hard to figure out.

Kinda surprised seeing "Just Dance" last but not mad about it. I just thought it would have done better as it got so many votes in the voting round. :haha:

There are a lot of weird things happening in the video, and it all makes sense when you get to the twist at the end.

DEREK

Quote

I’m living. So extra in the best way. Cinematography, fashion, hidden meanings/imagery that actually pays off in a clear way. Nice to know that she can still deliver this even during this later era.

CHRIS

Quote

When it comes to the Chromatica era, there’s no denying that "911" is the superior video. From the haute-couture fashion to the striking visual color palette, there’s something captivating that truly pulls you in. I love how it’s avant-garde without being overly extravagant or over the top. On a side note, I think Gaga has never looked better, especially in the olive-green dress. The execution of the short film concept was perfection, particularly the ending, which wraps everything up without feeling unnecessarily long.

LILY

Quote

I guess it's a bit of nostalgia bias, it's just the one I feel like I think of the least, but it's great

WALLY

Quote

Ooh a short film that is actually the time of an actual music video? I am shook here, haha. "911" is the only video of Lady Gaga's I haven't actually seen before. So hmm, it's hard to rank and judge this video as a first time watch compared to other videos I watched a ton before. This is an interesting video. Not really sure all of what's going on here.  :haha: I do feel bad for giving this a low ranking and not sure if it's just or fair but it just works for me right now.

"Applause" is another great and fun music video from Lady Gaga. There's a lot of bizarre and weird things going in it, but what else would we expect from Gaga? It's such a fun watch. Love all of the dancing she does in it too. I guess it's not one of my ultimate very favorite videos but I do still like it a lot.

COREY

Quote

The special effects range from amazing to silly, but they are still entertaining.

CHRIS

Quote

What really sets “Applause” apart is its stunning visuals. I love the nod to Andy Warhol, and it's iconic how she once again references "The Birth of Venus”. This video feels like a return to her roots, bringing back the avant-garde style, creativity, thought-provoking elements, and, of course, her signature choreography. While I do appreciate the video, I have to admit that some of her other works have left a stronger impact on me compare to this one.

DEREK

It’s fun! Not super iconic and kind of weird but that’s okay.

"Born This Way" is undoubtedly an iconic song, but the music video doesn’t quite match its energy for me. The intro feels overly long and somewhat unnecessary, which drags the pace and fails to grab the viewer’s attention right away. While the choreography, as always, is on point, I wish the video had a clearer vision and storyline that reflected the song's powerful message. If this video were to be remade in 2024, it could truly slay, especially during the moment when she sings, “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen”. Unfortunately, it lacks the iconic fashion moments and standout sequences that have defined her other videos. Honestly, I believe we placed this video in the Top 20 based more on the strength of the song than the video itself, which I’m certainly guilty of.

DEREK

Quote

Um starts out kind of weird, obviously intentional but I’m not super vibing with it. This song was insanely hyped when it was released and I don’t think the video quite matched. Something about it is just a little off to me. But Rick Genest could get it any day of the week, RIP.

  COREY

Quote

The middle of this video contains some subpar dance routines, and some scenes with Lady Gaga appearing as one half of a skeleton couple. It starts with a voiceover that is necessary to explain the perplexing images that follow, but at the same time do a terrible job at making us understand what is going on.

WALLY

Quote

"Born This Way" is another reallly interesting, unique and fun music video from Lady Gaga. It's..... interesting and a video I don't really have words for some of it. :haha:  I think this is one of those Gaga songs where I do love the song more than the video itself. I don't think it's amongst one of my favorite videos, but it's still good and cool.

Hmmm I'm mostly fine with this latest set. I don't know if I ranked "Applause" too high or not. I'm thinking I probably did but it goes to show how hard ranking videos really are. :haha:

I do agree with a lot of Chris' thoughts regarding the "Born This Way" video. For such an iconic song, I do wish it had a stronger video to match it.

I have seen the shorter/song only version video of "G.U.Y."  I don't know or recall ever seeing this Artpop film version of it. Again, this was when Lady Gaga was making these really long music videos that I didn't have patience to watch for at first. This is another video with an interesting storyline to it and has a lot going on with it. The way this transitions to "G.U.Y." does feel abrupt. But I do really like that section of the video and think it's fun. Though LOL at the Andy Cohen cameo. A lot is going on here but I do like this more than I remembered.

CHRIS

Quote

First of all, I didn’t even realize there were two versions of this music video, so I technically missed one for the round, haha! “G.U.Y.” is definitely reminiscent of early Lady Gaga with its extravagant style. The opening sequence where she's a fallen angel, transitioning into the actual “G.U.Y.” segment, feels like something straight out of Ryan Murphy’s mind. Personally speaking, I love the campiness of the whole video. Because as a Bravoholic, the cameos of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - Andy Cohen, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Yolanda Hadid, Kim Richards, and Carlton - always give me life. While Carlton is the most random inclusion ever, but at the same time, the video gives off serious Carlton vibes so it only makes sense why she was included. Overall, it’s an artistic product that perfectly fits the era, and only Gaga could pull off something like this.

DEREK

Quote

Thank you Zedd. I’m probably the biggest Artpop fan on the boards but seeing the housewives and andy cohen was just too random and dropped it lower lol. Jesus and Gandhi in a box? A million gay clones in suits? I mean she’s always out there but this seems even more strange than usual.

Is it me or is Gaga in that denim just soooo beautiful. The intro is long but it feels more heartfelt and intentional than some other long intros that she has. Also I’m a sucker for the dance class scenes.

CHRIS

Quote

In true Lady Gaga fashion, “Marry the Night” feels like a short film, effortlessly telling a story through both her acting and the dialogue.. The vulnerability she shows in the first moments of the video is a side of Gaga we hadn’t seen before, and it’s captivating. Sure, there are parts that feel a bit long or unnecessary, but this video is undeniably Gaga as she is pushing the envelope on top of its many references to pop culture, films, and literature. That said, the quality does dip once the actual music kicks in—the transition didn’t quite land for me, especially after such a strong and engaging start of the “short film”.

COREY

Quote

Based on Gaga's opening monologue, I expected this video to be epic. The buildup is not terrible, but once the music starts rolling, it is a big disappointment. The Honey Nut Cheerios scene bizarrely ends up being the top moment in the whole video.

WALLY

Quote

Am I still bitter that "Marry The Night" made it through over "Rain on Me" and "Video Phone"? Yes. Do I think it's a good video and deserving of being in this Top 15? Also yes. But okay this music video is insanely long - like a short form movie. This was at the point of Gaga's career where I couldn't really focus/pay attention or watch these long videos in full. I don't know if I ever saw this 13:50 video in full. But gosh, it takes forever to get into the song. :dead: The storytelling and acting is great and very strong here. I do really like the video once it gets to the song. I do love all of the dancing she does with her backing dancers. Though I still would have been fine with this missing out but oh well.

GIGI

I'm not a fan of the long intro.

Hmmm, this ranking may be too high on an objective ranking? It's probably not one of Gaga's most elaborate or outstsanding music videos. But I still do really love this music video. It's a fun, hot video and it's just so Gaga. :bobo: Also doesn't hurt that I do absolutely love the song and can never get tired of it.

DEREK

Quote

Just Dance was fine but this was THE Gaga song that really blew up globally. I think the song is 1000x more iconic than the video unfortunately. Like in Just Dance it kind of leans too hard on “trashy party-girl” which I don’t have anything against but don’t think is really Gaga’s brand. But the styling and the choreo is much more deliberate in this, hints of more to come.

CHRIS

Quote

"Poker Face" definitely has an iconic intro, especially the walk out of the pool—it sets a tone. But beyond that, the video doesn’t quite complement the song in the way you’d expect from Gaga. The song is undeniably iconic, but the visuals don't elevate it or make the video stand out as much as her other work. It comes across as a bit bare minimum, without the extra flair or bold concepts we've come to associate with her.

COREY

Quote

I'm a big fan of the song, but the video is really bare bones. The outfits are okay, but there is virtually no scene, and the dancing is lackluster. Where is the shock value I expect from Lady Gaga? Not here.

Aww I'm glad to see "Poker Face" make it this high. It's not as epic as a lot of her other videos but I've always really loved the video and found it fun. :bobo: I do get the comments and low ranks for it, as it makes sense.

I'm fine with the rankings for the other two though I'd like for "Marry the Night" to have ranked lower, lol.

Given that the entire video was shot on a single stage set, it is very well done. The flow of the shots is excellent and they never dropped the ball. I think I told my partners that this video was bad, but thankfully I watched it a few more times.

WALLY

I feel like "The Edge Of Glory" is a fun and joyous music video. It's also a video that doesn't seem to have that much going on. It's a good video and good watch but I just realized it's not really that elaborate like these other videos. But this song doesn't need or call for that. I do really love the coloring of the video as well. But yeah this is another one of those Lady Gaga songs where I realize I love the song more than the video.

CHRIS

“The Edge of Glory” is a more simplified video compared to what we had come to expect from Lady Gaga at that point in her career. She took a stripped-down, solo approach, reminiscent of her early days in New York, opting to forgo the usual theatrics and avant-garde flair - which was likely planned for the original concept - and instead focused solely on her. For me, the standout moment will always be Clarence Clemons' saxophone solo. However, as a whole, the video doesn’t stand out as much as her other works. I think I voted to advance it mostly because of my love for the song and the nostalgic significance of it being Clarence’s last appearance before his passing.

DEREK

One outfit. One set. No one else present except small snippets of the saxophonist. We love Clarence Clemons but that’s not enough.

This was always going to be number one for me so I’m glad it made the final ranking. Everything in the music video is perfection and the song slays.

CHRIS

“Judas” showcases some of the strongest visuals in Lady Gaga's career, and I’m forever obsessed with her looks and the way she slays the choreography throughout the video. The transitions between different segments flow seamlessly, and the tribute to Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus," where she stands on the rock with waves crashing around her in that haute couture dress, is forever iconic. In my opinion, this video is one of her best-executed works in terms of concept, editing, and vision - it perfectly complements the song and captures the essence of its message.

WALLY

I never really cared for "Judas" the song but ugh I can admit that it does have a great and fun music video to it. Just looking and basing this on the video, I do really like the music video a lot. It's a fun video. There's a lot going on, love all of the dancing and it's fun to watch. I love how colorful it is and how much is going on. I enjoyed this more than I remembered. So I guess the music video is deserving of a high ranking.

:haha:

DEREK

Norman Reedus as Judas always sends me, she knew what she was doing. This video feels very Fame coded to me, it’s like a fancy version of something she would have done for her debut album.

COREY

This is my favorite Lady Gaga song, but we are judging the videos. I find the dancing to be very energetic, but the story happening in between the dancing is not so great. So much attention is drawn to Lady Gaga and her two main guys, and yet the story doesn't seem to go anywhere, and takes too long to make its point.

ELLIOTT

Seeing the music video and the choreography nowadays just reminds of the AS7 finale and ew.

“Paparazzi” is the video that made me fall in love with Lady Gaga. The storytelling, acting, and visuals come together to deliver everything you want from a music video. Little details, like the newspaper and the money bills with her face, add depth and richness. The fashion is on point, especially that Chromatica look with the crutches. Gaga truly channels Roxie Hart throughout the video, which adds to its allure. Other highlights include the mugshot scene and the group choreography, marking the start of Gaga's evolution as a dancer in her music videos. And who could forget the iconic line, “I just killed my boyfriend”? Even after all these years, nothing comes close to this music video, in my opinion.

SOLA

I go back and forth on a couple of her best videos but upon rewatching today, this was the one that kept me engaged the most.

WALLY

I feel like this was Lady Gaga's first elaborate and really impressive music videos. This was one of her first videos with a big budget and storyline, which is fun and entertaining to watch. "Paparazzi" isn't amongst my veryy top favorite Gaga songs - but music videos wise, I think it's great and deserving of a high ranking. But yeah the storytelling and storyline is really scary towards he end.

COREY

It's a bit awkward at time, but tells an entertaining story, and the final twist at the end is awesome, outfit, facial expressions and all.

DEREK

Okay now we are doing full productions, plotlines, all kinds of stuff. This is Gaga in her true element. The video doesn’t really match the story in the lyrics but seeing a full production and vision is also fun

LOL Yeah my guess for Derek's last place video was gonna be "The Edge of Glory." Honestly, I do get it as it was kind of a lackluster/more boring video than I remembered it being. :ph34rwave: It's a good video but not really a standout.

Elliott ranking "Judas" last and preventing it from the Top 3! I'm not mad about it despite thinking it's a great video.

Oh wow I'm kinda surprised about “Paparazzi”  not making it to the Top 3. 😮 I'm not upset that it missed out but just surprised. I do love Chris' commentary on this one (though his commentary on all the videos have been great).

YAYY soo glad that my Top 2 made it to the Top 3! I really hope they end up being the Top 2 here, so fingers crossed!

Had to rank this first for popularizing the 8 minute music video and for being so dark and homoerotic.

DEREK

Quote

This is a huge production but it still feels more personal and focused than others from Fame Monster which were huge explosions and over the top. Dying laughing that the “Most Replayed” part on YouTube is just the naked boy in the bed. Some of the imagery here hits close to home as someone who was raised Catholic. Not sure if Gaga considers herself religious, I sure don’t.

COREY

The performance is great, and incorporates dancing that isn't really dancing, which is cool. The performance keeps changing throughout the video, which is also great.

“Alejandro” is arguably one of the most iconic videos that showcases Lady Gaga's artistry, featuring avant-garde fashion and exceptional creativity. With a clear vision executed flawlessly, this video truly stands out. The fashion is striking; Gaga is one of the few artists of our generation unafraid to push boundaries with her music video concepts, and this is a perfect example. I also love the nods to Madonna’s videos, which highlight how Gaga honors her influences while carving out her own identity. Overall, “Alejandro” embodies everything we appreciate and love about Gaga.

WALLY

"Alejandro" is a really cool, unique and interesting video. It has this dark, moody quality to it. This is another video I don't really know where it ranks for me. It's a great and strong video but I never really thought of it as one of my top favorites. It's definitely very risque and out there. Do not watch this video at work. :haha:

Some people may be reluctant to put a song with such a prominent feature at the top of the list but at the end of the day this is Gaga’s song, Gaga’s vision, Gaga’s video, and to me was a cultural reset in terms of music, videos, and fashion. The dancing! The branding! The artistry! The references! The cameos! Mark Kanemura! Plenty Of Fish dot com! It doesn’t get much better than this for me from any artist ever tbh. It was truly an EVENT.

ELLIOTT

Obviously. The video is meme central and the GIFs are still prevalent in pop culture like 15 years later. Still waiting on Part 2, tbh.  😘

While working and figuring out this list was absolutely difficult, I did know what my Top 2 favorite Gaga videos were and I knew that "Telephone" was my #1 favorite video on this list. Does this song featuring Beyoncé have something to do with that? Maybe, maybe not. But "Telephone" is also my favorite Lady Gaga song. I'm not sure how often my favorite song + favorite video matches from the same artist but I am curious to find that out. This is like the only one of those short film/movie length music videos  from Lady Gaga that I have and can watch a ton of times and never get tired of it.

I think this is such a brillant video. I really love the storyline and storytelling of this. There's so much going on where it really does feel like a movie. Lady Gaga out there being so bad getting herself in jail. And then of course, Beyoncé is there to help save her. Then the two of them join forces to cause so much trouble! Specifically with killing off Tyrese's character and some other people.... just oh my. Also not to mention, I love all of the dancing they do as they both slayyy the choreography here! :omg: This is such an entertaining video that I can never get tired of watching. :bobo:

First of all, without Paparazzi, this video would not exist but I digress 😘 What more can you ask for from a music video featuring Beyoncé and Lady Gaga? This video perfectly showcases Gaga's status as a triple threat—singing, choreography, and acting. The fashion is phenomenal, highlighting everything from Gaga’s sunglasses made from cigarettes and cans of soda in her hair to her striking caution tape look, prison entrance, prison release outfit, and diner look. The branding and product placement certainly reflected the late 2000s importance of music videos with the arrival of YouTube. Even after all these years, the video certainly had a lasting impact on pop culture - like Derek mentioned in his write-up, this was truly a cultural reset.. All in all, I love a long music video or short film when it's executed this well!

COREY

Quote

Rather than the traditional dance performances, the video follows a story. The plot and dialogue don't really make sense, but very entertaining still. I enjoy the quirky stuff throughout the video, like the shuffle Lady Gaga does while exiting prison, and the visual stuttering while the girls are talking on the phone.

ZOEY

This was iconic at the time but I hate the song which has impacted my ranking.

“Bad Romance” marks a pivotal moment in Lady Gaga's career, showcasing her evolution as an artist. From the fashion—thanks to the late, great Alexander McQueen—to the avant-garde elements, the video is a visual masterpiece. It topped charts upon its release, cementing its status as an important music video in pop culture, and it’s still considered one of her best works today. The choreography, especially the iconic "paws up" move, is elevated and refreshing compared to her earlier works, particularly during “The Fame”. Overall, “Bad Romance” stands out as one of her best videos, reflecting both her artistic vision and her talent as a multi-talented entertainer.

DEREK

Quote

Holy shit the massive transformation and leap forward from Fame to Fame Monster era gives you whiplash. Not my favorite song of hers but this is when she became a fully formed artist to me. Before she was experimenting, trying it on, figuring it out, and this is a fully evolved version. Shoutout to Laurieann Gibson and Alexander McQueen.

WALLY

While working and figuring out this list was absolutely difficult, I did know what my Top 2 favorite Gaga videos were and I knew that "Bad Romance" was my #2 favorite video of this list! This is such a fun, creative, innovative and entertaining video to watch. It's sooo out there! But I also love how elaborate and extra it is. I love all of the dancing and choreography. And yeah this is just such a kooky, scary but such a brilliant music video. I can see this being a contender to win and I would not be upset about that.

COREY

This video runs smoothly between scenes and there is never a dull moment. I also love how the fashions match the spirit of the song.
