Musician Videography Rankdown (Round 3 - Carrie Underwood)

MUSICIAN VIDEOGRAPHY RANKDOWN 

 

 

Music videos revolutionized the music industry!  With the help of MTV, YouTube, and the internet, music videos brought some genres into the mainstream and introduced millions to new artists for the first time. Whether by complementing the song, showcasing creativity, or sparking chatter and sometimes controversy, music videos have left and continue to leave a lasting impact on the music industry. Building on the success of the Discography Rankdown and other mini rankdowns, I’ve decided that a rankdown focusing on music videos would be a fun way for us to talk about our favourite artists’ videography. And, the ranking will be based on the music video itself, not the song or its lyrics which will set it apart from the Discography Rankdown. Each round will focus on one artist, and IDF will vote on their best music video ever. We’ll cover as many legendary musicians as we like. Eventually, I’d love for all the winning music videos to face off, similar to the Discography Rankdown. But for now, let’s explore and rank some iconic music videos!

 

FORMAT / RULES :

 

1. At the beginning of the rankdown, everyone is free to submit one artist of their choosing for an individual round. Submissions can be made at any point during the rankdown.

2. The order of the music video rounds will be first come, first served, to keep the game moving quickly.

3. Any song with a music video will be featured in the artist's round, including collaborations if there's a video (this does not include group work if the artist went solo).

4. The format of each round will depend on the artist’s videography and the number of participants. I’ll do my best to mix things up so each round’s format isn’t the same.

5. The final round will always feature a simple ranking completed via PM. Generally, we’ll have a Top 15 or Top 20 each round, depending on the size of the artist's videography.

6. Write-ups are not expected but are always welcome and encouraged!

The main post has been updated with the artists chosen, so far, and the second post is updated for the first round. 

Been getting everything ready for every artists selected so far - mainly going with what's shown on Wikipedia, but I am also doing my research to ensure  Wikipedia is accurate. For some artists, especially if they don't have as many videos, I have included lyrics video & visualizer if they're both an actual video that could work as a music video (e.g.: not a visualizer that's on loop constantly).
