Personally I would give all those Awards to Scotty ..he so deserves it IMOP ...But we know how all this works .🙏

I think a whole lot of prayers might be in order 🙏

From what I remember, there have been a couple instances where Scotty was on the 2nd ballot & for some major awards at the CMA's, but didn't make the final nominations. Back in 2019, he made the 2nd ballot for Male Vocalist, Song of the Year ("This Is It"), & Music Video ("This Is It"). The first year of COVID Scotty also made the 2nd ballot for Male Vocalist, Music Video, etc.🤞Hoping for nominations this year.

Thanks, Jonathan....nice to see Scotty's name on those lists.

Once again....the new artist category has some strange names on it - Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashley Cooke, and ERNEST.  (I know the rules are complicated...but Mitchell T has been around for ages and has released CDs for a couple of years.  Same for Ashley C.  ERNEST could be legitimate because while he's been writing songs for a lot of artists, he is relatively new as an artist/performer.)

Marshmello....I won't say a word.

Only two females in that category.  SMH.

Glad to see two actual country CDs nominated...ERNEST and Scotty.  Luke's CD will no doubt win...it's a sentimental favorite.

Think of New Artist as Breakthrough Artist. An artist just needs to have shown a significant breakthrough commercially or critically. This happens at other award shows. Many New Artist awards really mean Breakthrough Award. For example, Grammy Awards awarded country artist, Shelby Lynne with Best New Artist. She had already had a 10+ year career, released 6 albums, etc. when she was given the award. Looking at the current artists we know of on the 2nd ballot, I think all of them had significant breakthrough in the past year.

Luke Combs album is certainly in contention & will probably be nominated. I would be surprised if Chris Stapleton isn't nominated. His album was released late last year & wasn't eligible for awards last year. Considering how most award shows nominate him & he usually wins, I wouldn't be surprised if his album is the frontrunner to win.

I don't see Chris' album on the list...or his name anywhere else.

This is me just assuming his album will get nominated based on how critically acclaimed he is & well loved by award shows. Keep in mind that the artists/songs that made the 2nd ballot hasn't been all revealed. We know about Scotty of the ad in Country Aircheck. That's why we know about the others, too.

In previous year's, the 2nd ballot has 20 artists/songs in consideration for all of the major categories. That would mean there should be 19 other albums that made the 2nd ballot & not even half of them have been revealed. Same with the Vocalist, Song, Single, etc. categories.
