Kyla had the mediocre blind and the finale performances weren’t up to par for her abilities. So, advantage Wendy. I don’t remember enough about Sisaundra’s run. I just remember thinking she oversang quite a bit.

Kyla

Kyla - Let It Be

YDOM and ONO will probably be the more popular choices but I kinda felt like Let It Be was the culmination of all her best moments plus her gospelized take on the song was what made it my favorite.

Gonna rank the options bc why not lol

1. Kyla - Let It Be

2. Kyla - One Night Only

3. Wendy - You're All I Need

4. Wendy - Over the Rainbow

5. Kyla - You Don't Own Me

6. Sisaundra - Ain't No Way

7. Sisaundra - Oh Sherrie

8. Sisaundra - New York State of Mind

9. Kyla - With Help from My Friends

10. Wendy - Jolene

11. Sisaundra - Man's World

12. Wendy - Ain't No Way

13. Wendy - We Can Work It Out

Kyla > Sisaundra > Wendy

Honestly I felt like Sisaundra and Wendy were relatively close, I don't feel like Sisaundra's song choices got to show the best of what she was capable of. But although both had some "boring" or overdone songs I felt like Sisaundra made those songs work better than Wendy, so I chose her.

I'm really not sure about these 2 though, could flip them depending on the day. I'd also say I stan all performances 1-7 which is at least 2 from each of them.

Im not sure who has my favourite performance or what order I'd rank them just yet, but I do think overall Kyla Jade had the weakest run. Neither Wendy nor Sissuandra had as messy a performance as Kyla Jade's "this is me". Then there was the mediocre finale original too.

I know it's splitting hairs, but you kinda have to in a comparison between these 3 cause they are just that good.

I’m also not really familiar with Sisaundra’s run besides her first three performances. Her Battles were absolute slayages and the Audition too but I prefer Wendy’s cover of Ain’t No Way.

Actually surprised you have 2 Wendy performances over Sissuandra since you don't seem to be a big fan of her tone and have always thrown praise at Sissuandra's way.

I mean I’ve always liked her last 2 weeks and I gained more appreciation for Jolene lately. There’s just something about clear tones hitting these crazy high notes that doesn’t really move me? It’s impressive but idk. Mainly applies to female vocalists since they’re the ones most capable of hitting those notes in the first place but like Todd Michael Hall is a male example I can think of, maybe even Joshua V to an extent? I feel like Wendy showed more vocal and performance wise at the end of her run which is why I liked those better.

Also giving some preference to live performances otherwise Kyla’s KO or Sisaundra’s BA would probably be higher.

yeah i think it’s that she lacks a grittier texture. like her high notes are some of the most impressive we’ve heard on the show, it just doesn’t intrigue me as much if they all sound very similar; it sounds rather dispassionate (to me!) to be singing all of these songs with no vocal texture.

Fair enough, I personally love how crystal clear her high belts are, but I also do love me some gritty vocals. In the end, which one I prefer depends on how they use it, song choice, etc.

Yeah I think this is why I prefer Kyla's voice.

Wendy sounds the same throughout her entire range with her crystal clear tone. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, and if you love her tone thats a good thing (if anything, it might speak to a healthy technique as well so ive heard).

But for me personally, it's more interesting when a singer has more tonal variety to their voice if that makes sense? For example, the contrast between Kyla's highest and lows are pretty drastic, she goes from this really full, deep sound in her low/mid register to sounding like a banshee at the tip of her range. Almost like an entirely different singer. She also employs raspy vocals on occassion which does add a little more variety.

Wendy and Sisaundra are techincally superior vocalists, but I enjoyed Kyla´s run the most. And Let it Be is my pick for favorite performance.

Not even disagreeing but curious what makes you say that? Is it cause of how good they are in their 50s which indicates excellent technique? Or that they were a bit more consistent during their run?

Their belting, and overall technique to reach out the big notes sounds healthier to my ears, and yeah, overall they were more consistent. (Solely due to Kyla´s finale performances not being a hit).

But tone is what drives me to Kyla. In particular her haunting lows, they sound heavenly.

Yeah I think I hear what you're saying. Kyla's belts are a bit thinner than the other 2. I do think that's partly because hers go a bit higher, But also it looks more effortful for Kyla to hit those high belts. (Although Wendy is probably the most effortless singer on the show so that's no slight).

I also think I recall Kyla saying she's more comfortable in her lower register.

i think i actuallt prefer high notes to be particularly “thick” like it makes it feel more agile and fluid when their voice is a bit thinner? Kyla works as an example but probably a better example is someone like Julia Cooper

Bit confused, did you mean to say "thin"?

I dont have a preference either way. I mean, Kyla's high notes are still very powerful but I do consider Sissuandra and Wendy the best pure belters on the show. I see what you mean with thinner feeling more agile and fluid though.

Anyways, I actually think all 3 showed very good agility and fluidity in their high notes.

Jesus this is an insanely hard poll .. how dare u @Hsamid lol

In terms of overall runs, it's Wendy > Kyla > Sisaundra. In terms of what I call THE ultimate powerhouse performance, it's Kyla's "One Night Only" but Wendy's OTR is def up there. Love all 3 DEARLY so this one was a toughie

right? I still haven't picked any of the options on the poll, lmao

I do think Kyla's one night only is my favourite performance of the 3, but I have trouble with the other questions lol.
